The people who are saying this season is bad because “there is no action” or “Thorfinn isn’t a badass” are missing the entire point of this story arc
So far it’s one of the best arcs I’ve seen in anime so far. So many good characters it’s breathtaking.
I acctully waaaay perfer season 2. As someone who is strongly against war and violence the first season made me really sick because I knew all the action and fighting was so pointless. So I really like the message and the direction the second season is taking.
As someone who loves Vinland Saga to death; I can understand people having issues with season 2 for not having action like in season 1. From their perspective, it can seem too odd of a tonal shift. Personally, I feel that the direction season 2 and onwards was going to take tonally was heavily foreshadowed back in season 1.
They just don't have the attention span more than a child I guess. They just want immediate satisfaction and see cool stuff and that's it I guess

Same. Love Season 1, but season 2’s themes and character development are some of the best I’ve seen on television
Tears to in my eyes. One of greatest anime openings ever. Went from badass Rock music in season 1 that represents the rage, pain, and anger inside thorfinn to a somber pop song in season 2 that represents thorfinn drowning in his tears, sadness, pain, regret, and sorrow. His rise will be beautiful.

The OP is literally about Thorfinn’s sorrow and regrets keeping him from the gold fields of Vinland. Just beautiful.
True that's why I like about season 2 because of Thorfinn trying to confront his past sins but tbh it kinda dragged but still I thought it was a good season I know I wasn't that gore like season 1 but storywise was great.
Thank you Shuhei Yabuta, Takahiko Abiru, Hiroya Hasegawa, and the rest of the anime staff for continuing the Vinland Saga anime! Can't wait to see how you guys adapt the Farm Arc!

I don't like mappa's art style. Because it is very similar to cartoons and not as deep as wit. But I still watch it because I trust the author. And I enjoy good stories.

If you guys didn’t notice, the credits in the op were in English. You can tell they were making this show with people from overseas in mind. If I remember correctly, Vinland Saga was more successful overseas than in Japan.
There was an actual Icelandic person speaking in the intro segment of ep1 too

The opening is an artistic masterpiece, it tells all the concepts of the first half of the story, the music and the beautiful visuals are a masterpiece.

From everything releasing this year, the only two that I can think of that might come close to VS are
Mushoku Tensei S2 (depending on how much they adapt) and
Insomniacs After School (which is probably only because of my specific taste) so yeah VS already IS the best of the year

The visual symbolism in this opening is INSANE
One of the best openings ever in my opinion. The video is amazing and the song is just epic. Perfect for Vinland Saga. I love the Rorschach/mirrored look at 0:57. It’s so cool. It’s just such a different type of style for an opening I’ve never seen before. Can’t give this a high enough rating. Love Vinland Saga!

The female vocals they get for Vinland Saga are top-notch. They're epicness is wound with tragedy and rings with a passionate desire for acceptance. They synergise so well with the opening and the direction of the series.
Why does this give some James Bond opening vibes? The singer, some of the great effects, etc. Awesome stuff

damn, this anime went from people slaughtering each other every episode, with heads flying everywhere and not a single scene without any blood and guts on the floor
to some emotional eye-opener that screams *make love not war*
The great thing is the message was always there. "You have no enemies."
Spoiler: just wait for the final episodes of this arc, you will see blood
Berserk also switches between horrific atrocities to the pure humanity and love of two people being vulnerable and helping each other through their traumas.
Like real life, Vinland Saga juxtaposes the absolute horrors and beauty of our world. And demonstrates the reality of the struggle in changing as a person. That's what makes stories like Vinland Saga and Berserk last.

I love how there's so much attention to detail and inner meanings in the visuals. Like the crown, covered in blood and soaking into Canute and changes him from what was a cowardly man with empathy, to a ruthless man who will do anything to achieve his goals.
This may be my favourite op of all time now, the visuals make it even better

Genuinely one of the best openings I've seen in the last 10 years. Fits so well with the themes of this arc and was meticulously crafted by the song artist and the animation team.
I don’t like how often the term “masterpiece” is thrown around but Vinland Saga deserves it. When this opening started playing I started welling up with tears just cause I can feel how much love, time, and effort went into just the opening much less the entire season. Words can’t describe how excited I am for this show!

after finishing s1, when i headed to s2, in the opening, when i saw thorfinn, i wasn't excited. BUT when i saw the crown, i was like, "isn't it canute's crown now?" then, his face showed up, the beard, the scar on his face, his eyes, WOW i was so surprised to see the change of canute! he has grown older, he's the king now! that little girly guy who couldn't even speak and just stand alone in the corner with ragnor is now that typa badass king! excellent!

This is OP of the year, hands down. This is downright beautiful, the visuals, the lyrics, the back drops, it sends chills down my spine.
Everything is perfect. The lyrics, the aesthetic, the music that feels like a whisper and hits hard in your soul and the symbolism involved in all the frames.
Yo something about when Thorfinn and Einars reflections smash the Ice at the end, almost symbolic of them smashing throught their traumas and becoming the men they become at the end of the season.
It's been a while I've seen an opening I genuinely classify as perfection. Haven't been this hype for an op fitting an arc since chase from jojo's part 4. Mappa outdid themselves
0:44 I love how here they show that power comes with tragity and tough decisions that will lead to some blood shed. And he takes a moment to think before he puts the crown on, as the blood changes him. Showing all the burdens of the crown transferring to him.

I think this is the most nailed S2 opening far exceeding the already huge hype and anticipation and multiplying it. This is so extremely beautiful.

I think I'm gonna rewatch S1 after I finish S2 because I love this show too much
I might be late to the game on this one, but I just noticed during the sequence where it shows Canute, the literal scar open his face opens up signifying the old wounds being opened up from season 1. Season 2 shows a more calm and pacifist Thorfinn whereas in the previous season he was bloodthirsty and animal like, but Thorfinn is still haunted from these past scars and they constantly come to terrorize him. Truly great imagery and writing

I love it when the music and visuals are so intricate, well made and matching, that they invoke other senses. Whenever I hear this song, I feel like I can feel the smell of melting snow, soap and yarn and something else I cannot quite find the words to describe.

This is my favorite opening, having now seen all four. Mukanjyo is a very close second, but the animation and music fits the tone so incredibly well.

I find Aot's writing immature and shallow, nothing to compare with something like Vinland Saga, Mob Psycho (or Full Metal Alchemist).

This entire anime is a masterpiece and is so incredibly written. It's amazing.
I can't express how grateful I am for the creative effort of the team behind this anime. After watching the first episode I can already tell they understand the depth of the story and what Yukimura is trying to convey through his art.

This is one series that I’ve NEVER skipped the intro of.
First time in my life that I love a chill opening...
I've show that Op to my girlfriend. She was astonished directly after 15 seconds. Visual art, the music, the feeling you get by watching it.. She does not read or watch anime but soon, it will be the case cause because of that, she want to watch Vinland Saga 😁
