  • A very timely product review.
Seems to do what it says, a bit too complex for this old dinosaur , yet quite intuitive to use.

My first car in the late 1970’s was a Ford Escort mark 1. No ECU, everything was basic. Points, spark plugs and cables, and rotor arm were easy to replace consumables. I even learned how to reset the timing using a timing light.
From time to time mechanical items failed and these were quickly replaced following a trip to the local breakers who allowed me to strip parts from wrecks stacked two high. No health and safety.
Those were the days of happy, joy free motoring.
Now the car I have scares me with its warning codes, most of which require a trip to the garage. The days of “simple repairs” with Haynes manual to hand are over 😢.
The ODB scanners are great tools for those who understand the codes and what needs to be done.

Looks like you need the battery cha4ged and load tested……many things on recent cars only need a higher voltage output. 👍🧐

First off all cheers 🍻 for the mention Ian have The S600 I can't praise it enough. The first bit you are in is Live Data it's really handy. What I like about the Kingbolen is straight forward. I going to be honest I have used it on a few car's now I also use Launch and TopDon, which is Bluetooth. Very handy, no cable. I bought a few of them because of my job as you know Ian I can't fault the Kingbolen at all. 👍

MiL status is if the ECU ( Engine Control Module) has an active Check engine light.

I just got a new smartphone, it asked so many questions on setup 🙄 i was just stabbing in the dark. So i know how you feel with this gadget, at least you can learn it bit by bit.

I just bought one last week. Had a bad sensor which put my GMC into limp mode. Sensor is NLA so had to find a good used one. Good video buddy. :)

I think if I put something like that on my car it would have a heart attack and advise to scrap it! I wouldn't have a clue what it was telling me anyway. Take care, Poo

Well it does as much as an OBD tool can do which is give you some vague information that a qualified mechanic will try and figure out. It's true though the battery on your vehicle looks low again. I think this must be chronic to newer cars. My mum has a mazda that has been into the shop under warranty for battery problems many times to no avail. Eventually she just put it on a charger whenever she is at home.
For me I have an older JDM diesel without any diagnosis tools on it. When it runs like shit I tell the symptoms to my neighbor the mechanic and then I try things. The good old days eh?

In truth a diesel is the wrong car for me as I only travel 7 miles to work. I’ll put the battery conditioner on it for a spell

Yeah the more tools you review they will send you I bought a kingbolen mini diag obd for special offer £55 because seen it on chops garage their stuff is good 👍

I was offered the mini Bluetooth to review but they said I would need a tablet to properly view it, so Kingbolen offered this self contained unit instead.
