Theory about the results:
Past wins, the next game takes place is the Great Turf War
Present wins, the next game keeps the squidbeak splatoon story and characters
Future wins, this game ends teh squidbeak Splatoon story and we get a new story, location and characters
I thought the same of so u would want past to win cause I think it would be cool however it's probably gonna be the least favourite

Gonna be honest present seems the least enticing out of the 3 option. I'm slowly feeling lik the characters are overstaying their welcome. I don't mind references or callbacks but I think this franchise needs something fresh that either *past or *future might fill. "*" cuz for all we know they might find a way to shove some of these characters regardless of who wins

Why I think humans are not going to be in Splatoon at all besides bones and pictures is because I don’t think they would want to model a human in the game. I just don’t think that they would do that.

There will be a sizable drop-off, but you’ll still be able to jump on and play some matches without much issue. However, you’d be correct if you were talking about Japan specifically. They aren’t going anywhere.
I think Splatoon 4 should talk about another adventure like from what we’ve seen in the 1st and 2nd installments when it comes to the single player story mode. The New Squidbeak Splatoon goes to another area that is under the Octarians or being able to go into a Octarian city as another agent of the Squidbeak Splatoon. We were in Octo Valley in the first installment, we were in Octo Canyon in the second installment, including the crater in the third installment. I think a new area could come into play as well as seeing flashbacks of the great turf war after completing missions in the new area. Splatoon 4 should continue the storyline starting from Splatoon 1 to where we are currently.
i do wish they could add a LOT more like other countries to explore. new entities. rabbits. new powers. new lore. and more PAIN. Cuz everytime we splat we pop like balloons.

For anyone wondering if this is the last splatfest, it might not be because it has been proven in the game files that there are models of pearl and marina in their splatoween and frostyfest costumes. I'm not saying there definitely will be splatfests after the grandfest but it's just in the game files so idrk
I think they called it grand festival because final fest didn’t account for the reboot splatfests.
It's not even been half a year since i started playing splatoon, for me, this is pretty sad that it ends here, but i'm exited for new to come, I really don't know what to expect!

I think its stupid if they make a 4, its not hard to do what PlayStation and Xbox and just make a Next-Gen version of the game. I hate the argument ever since Splatoon 2 where the next game is just the last .5 (ppl saying Splatoon 2 is Splatoon 1.5 and 3 being 2.5) but I'd argue for now that 4 would be exactly that. It's so annoying having to grind for a bunch of stuff just for a new game to come out.
It’s very clearly the last *NEW* Splatfest, but Nintendo seems to be planning on doing reruns previous Splatfests going by the files.

Random theory, what if the splatfest isn’t Shiver, Frye and big man on a different teams, but squid sisters, off the hook, and deep cut on there own teams, seeing how there are eyes representing each idol on the themes and each group is in there own team and how they are all on the stage together. I think it would be a fun thing to do, and maybe the other groups interrupt the broadcast when the theme is revealed
They confirmed it with the choice screen using each idols symbol in the options.

Oddly enough, this splatfest takes place on weekdays. So take a educated guess.
I bought splatoon 3 the first month it released, played maybe about 5 hours of the story mode and a little online and proceeded to sell the game out of boredom. Such a shame because i enjoyed splatoon 2 quite a bit in 2018 for like a year, but now this game just feels sooooooo boring to me. I hope they reboot the series and makes the gameplay faster

First, its probably not the finalfest beacause there were leaks for Pearl and marina frosty and splatoween versions added and secondly I think the theme will not change timeline beacause splatoon year is the same as in our world

Okay, so going by the established formula:
Past = prequel, maybe not the Great Turf War, becouse that would change the tone of splatoon to a more serious, darker one. I think it would take place some time after it, so maybe the story of establishing the SplatLegue(?), the road to the very first Splat Fest.
Present = were still in the same town but in a different district again, because let's not forget Inkopolis, Inkopolis Square and the Splatlands are 3 districts of the same city. So everything stays the same it's just a new district with the previous three available via metro and season passes.
Future = basically new town, new districts with little to no connection to the previous one.

So I've got splatoon 3 and played through it's story mode, but never got nintendo switch online, so I'm very out of context here. What exactly is a splatfest?
A special event where all players pick a team (the theme changes every splatfest) and compete in ONLY turf wars to fight for their team to win. The lighting also turns to nighttime so it’s such a different and cool environment

splatoon won't be that far imo, it will be most likely 2026 or maybe if they want to take it slowly on 2027 but they would need some big title for the year 2
Considering the code name of the next game is spiral and the theme of the final splatfest maybe the theme of the story of the next game will revolve around time travel

As a die-hard Splatoon fan, I'm really, really, really, REALLY EXCITED for the Grand Festival Splatfest.
I only have massive problems with this Final Splatfest:
1) Having to choose between these three teams, which is very hard for me because of the theme (Past vs Present vs Future)
2) Having to choose between one of the three Idol Groups that I think should win, which is ALSO very hard for me since I like all three groups equally
AND
3) No matter which team I pick, it won't even matter in the end because this is the end because--I HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE TO ALL THREE IDOL GROUPS AT THE END THE GAME AND I'LL NEVER GONNA SEE THEM AGAIN IN SPLATOON 4! 😭

I am in the same boat about what team to join.
My first Splatfest was last September (the DeepCut splatfest) and I got my own copy of the game for my birthday one month and a half later. I'm so happy I got into Splatoon 3 in time to experience so many amazing events ☺️💜
When splatoon 3 ends I will still play it until splatoon 4 and for the final splastfest I'm either chooseing present or future but I'll see and who will win we will all have so much fun during it and let's see who will win and about splatoon 4 and other stuff
From what i Remember, in the very first 40 minute nintendo direct bout splatoon they said splat 3 will be the last splat

I hope they keep to the current art style and character style, change to character and characters as well as lore and maps could effect things a lot when it comes to gameplay and rating. Either way I can’t wait for splatoon 4.
I hope if it becomes future! There are really epic weapons that have more functions and that you can make your character to your playing style with perks better as now to make you a tank / speed demon or a soner
I think it's refering the different games and their idols. In that case I think the past is the most important because without splatoon we wouldn't have splatoon 3 and onward.

I think it’s way too early for a final splatfest and if this “grand splatfest” is the final one im sure they would’ve just called it that. But I have no doubt that because of the size of this splatfest, I think it will tie into a future story.
I don’t know, something about this game allegedly coming to a close this early kind of breaks my heart…
I believe that Team Past represents the release of Splatoon (2015), Team Present represents the release of Splatoon 2 (2017), and Team Future represents Splatoon 3 (2022).

I'm totally choosing future, future could possibly bring completely new areas, weapons, characters, maybe even new species!
I want future to win because I think the story reflected by this choice will make a great story but I wouldn’t keep my hopes up. I think either future or present will win and I’m leaning more on present winning.
I think if past won we will see the great turf war which will be cool. we will hopefully see cuttlefish again but a lot younger which i would love too see
I gotta go with past here, the first splatoon came out when I was younger and has so much nostalgia tied to it that I never felt with the other two games as great as they are ^^
Its weird because in the description of the video it says the final update releases september 12th, a week after the alterna callie and marie amiibo, so it'll be weird to see that nintendo will then only give us a week to goof around with the amiibo gear, right?
I might not get Spoon 4 right away. Three just felt different in a way I can’t put my finger on.
I’m choosing past, I would rather have a port of Splatoon 1 than a Splatoon 4, I never had a Wii U to play Splatoon on. Obviously they’re still doing Splatoon 4 but I hope it’s similar to Splatoon 1

Futur: Prepare for the next entry of the series and choose the path that you want.
I do beleive that the present team will win, as in a recent poll, off the hook was the most popular, as deep cut did not get the fame as people thought it would which is reasonable. Squid sisters actually pretty much got last, as most people are tired of them being in every single game. Even though they are important in the story modes, they are pretty basic. Off the hook is very popular, as not only did they give us the most fire D.L.C’s, they were the first group to have an octo, which is also the more popular species in both splatoon 2 and 3. Even if present doesn’t win, it’s definitely going to be future or present. Present is definitely getting first or second as off the hook is the most popular group.
I think I get what the splat fest will change splatoon 4
Past - games like splatoon 1
Present - keep the series how it was in splatoon 2
Future- change the game up a little bit like splatoon 3
I hope that in Splatoon 4 we can finally splat some oons that would be cool I think
I think of past won they may show us what happened with DJ octavious and captain cuddlefish in the old turf war
If they do choose to show the characters (Callie, Marie, Pearl, Marina, Shiver, Frye, Big Man, Captain cuttlefish, agent three, agent four, agent 8, etc.) in splatoon 4, then it might be something like this:
Past - Captain Cuttlefish isn’t as old, all the idols are children or teenagers, and the agents are children.
Present - it just continues on with the story, all characters are still the same
Future - The idols and agents are older, not old old tho. Captain cuttlefish might be around sense Nintendo most likely won’t kill him off.
It depends if future win what if the games are worse so I’m really not sure which team to pick.
I feel like past will have us find old feudal japan relics that will be tied to the lore and will probably delve deeper into the world before the inklings.
Present might focus more into the urban style 1 and 2 had and the different music bands the game has, and will probably use them to make interesting musical evolutions due to bands disbanding and experimenting by themselves. While lore wise it can sound boring, it could make for some awesome slice of life type of story without the tension of some past or future catastrophe looming over us.
Future seems to want to focus more on the unnerving perfect geometries with clean environments like the white spaces in Nier Automata. An odd, almost virtual looking world, most likely devoid of life. This might expand the concept of the side order DLC, although most likely not gameplay wise.
I’m sad that Splatoon is ending
It’s coming to an end, this fest goes through my birthday. If I was playing, I’d choose future or past
I think the trilogy thing is just the storyline of story mode. They’re probably going to just make a completely different story mode that has nothing to do with the past game, but of course they’re going to make the next main line in the series a Splatoon game no matter if it’s different or not it’s going to be Splatoon so it’s not going to be anything different of course I am expecting some spinoff games, but I do think that the next game will be very similar
They should make the great turf war a dlc in splatoon 4 and how you enter the dlc is by talking to captain cuddlefish(if he's even still alive💀). I also think present and future are the best options to pick because for present they would probably give us a new location, weapons, customization, and characters but the game wouldn't be as futuristic(plus the game time takes place as real time in the real world(us now). For the future they can have future future futuristic content but the future of the splatoon world looks grim tho because of the salamonoids(constant big runs). I don't know how the past option would work on splatoon 4, the future game.
I won’t lie, I am having a hard time choosing what team to be on. But no matter what teams win or lose, I can’t wait to see what the future for Splatoon holds.
My headcanon is that if past wins the next installmemt will be a prequel surrounded around the great turf war.
I think now that the trilogy is coming to a close, maybe they could open up the series abit. Like for instance maybe the great turf war is a RPG game something very experimental for the series. Of course i do want another splatoon game but with switch 2 possibly being backwards compatible maybe we get something different first then splatoon 4 later. If they do this they could open it up more make splatoon a biiger franchise, i could also imagine a rythmn game where they could have the splatoon bands singing in the background and your pressing the buttons to a certain beat.
what stinks about this is that we HARDLY seen any enemy octolings or octarians redeemed and enjoy the grand festival. it's just jellyfishes! JELLYFISHES! It hurts! they were soliders till the end with no sign of joy. just death

Not really looking forward to fighting against Octolings for the 4th game in a row if past wins. Though I also don’t want to risk the possibility of Splatoon 4 being indifferent to the rest of the games if present wins. Future is the best choice in my opinion not just for the concept but also because it’s a chance for the Splatoon community to move onto something new. Then again you gotta realize that if it IS literally the future then that also leaves a giant plot hole for the Lil Judd + grizzco stuff.
I am curious as to how new players will get super snails after the final splatfest I remember when I first started playing Splatoon 2 I bought it after the Chaos versus order splatfest had already ended meaning that you can no longer get the super snails
I think I'll be choosing past! Perhaps present, though .... No offense to future (vibes), it's just not my preference!🎉

I’m really hoping that it doesn’t come out year one or two. I don’t want them to release the game sort of half baked like I saw from splatoon 3. I’m hoping they take 3-4 years so they are able to polish the game a bit more and make it the splatoon WE DESERVE!
Honsetly this game is a game me and my son play daily. Its just soooo good. I'm also scared for when they take splatoon 3 off online play. Hopefully its not for a while
