    I used these settings on my 50W laser and it came out pretty good. The only difference is while engraving, the powder coat flamed up a lot and there was quite a bit of smoke. Never had that happened when just powering through the powder coat and engraving the steel beneath.

    So glad I found this channel! What power laser are you using? I currently only have a 20 watt with max frequency of 80. Do you know how your settings would translate?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 роки тому +2

      if anything it will be easier with a 20w, the trick is to put down enough power to remove the coating but not so much that it marks the metal. Try the same settings in the video and max your khz out at 80, from there increase power as needed. Don't forget to defocus! A large dot size (you get when defocusing) keeps the power spread out so it isn't all focused in one spot, lowering the chance that you will actually mark the metal.

    Nice! What's the max width that your fiber laser can engrave? Can this be expanded with different lenses? 🤔

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 роки тому +1

      All comes down to the lens. Lenses are cheap and easy to purchase. As long as you have enough power you can go anywhere from 2 inches all the way up to 12 or 15 inches.

    Great tutorial. I noticed your workflow for spacing objects evenly is a little lengthy. The distributed alignment tools will save you grouping time. I know its seconds but still. To align with distributed alignment tools you place the top and bottom objects in the proper locations for spacing and then select all to be aligned and select the desired alignment. In this case horizontal center alignment is what you want. does exactly what you did without grouping but just by selecting all the objects. those alignments are just to the right of the normal alignment tool buttons.

    Hey, great video. Would this also work on a co2 laser?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 роки тому

      This is only difficult on the fiber, on the CO2 this would be a breeze! You can throw as much power as you want at this with the CO2 and it's not going to mark the metal so you can get away with a lot more of the curve before you start running into issues!

    Rather than a role of tape, or chuck style rotory too, couldn't you use a roller type rotory tool? I've never seen someone use a roller style rotory on a fiber laser. Is there a reason for that?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Рік тому

      They simply aren't marketed towards owners of galvo lasers. We'll be covering this topic on the channel soon though we have some great roller rotaries I'm excited to check out and show off on the channel.

    Are fiber lasers really that fast? I noticed you put 5x as you were doing those final passes. Were those other realtime passes? I have been using a diode for everything and it takes forever to to even do simple things. Been looking at the 20w fibers available, but haven't bit the bullet and made a purchase yet.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, any footage of the laser running in this episode without a speed modifier label is absolutely real time. :) It's immensely faster than using something like a diode laser.

    Maybe this is a stupid question, but why would you do this on a fiber instead of a CO2?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  7 місяців тому +1

      No stupid questions, some people just don't have a CO2. A lot of people start with fiber, only have space for a fiber and require a machine with a super small foot print etc. CO2 is certainly the more appropriate wavelength for this work but we like providing people with circumstantial options. ✨
