I had a DVD+vcr combo player that was really nice but it has unfortunately died after taking it apart to remove a stuck DVD (the movement had killed something.) Me being dumb and young I had spend a lot of time trying to fix the power supply, sometimes while it was completely hot and bare because I was dumb. Thankfully I didn't die, but this video reminded me of how stupid I was :P

I've just put this comment on your part two video, just in case you missed it...I might have dreamt this or it might have been a different 8mm recorder you were working on, but didn't you say in a previous video that the capacitors were no longer available to repair these mechines. Or that you could get a few from old remote controls. I live in the UK and have a Sony EVA300ub that at the very least seems to have the same initial loading problem as the EVS you are working on. I'd really like to get it working to use as a player for about 40 8mm tapes recorded back when. I've not ventured inside yet, but I've contacted a few electonic video people who say they can't repair 8mm mechines.

They don't want to get involved because they assume you don't want to spend money on fixing it. As you can see, almost everything is repairable. I fixed a Fostex G16S reel to reel machine that everyone said isn't fixable. After 720 capacitors and around 100 ICs, transistors and diodes, is a perfectly good machine.

@@dorelgogu8631 no. People don't want to fix these old things. The problem with leaking caps on multi layer boards is the damage that happens to the inaccessible internal layers. When the corossion eats into these traces more problems start.
Sure if it is a one off machine that is absolutely needed to play old media then know yourself out. I know a guy that spent 7500 restoring an old ampex vpr 7900 and time base corrector.
This is for the obsolete 1" A format tape. He charges 1000.00 a hour to transfer video from this obsolete broadcast format. Needless to say there are a few people that are mist upset at what he charges. They are thinking a couple hundred max and then they get the quote. 1000 per hour and another 450 set up fee. So 1450 for the first hour tape and then 1000 per 1 hour tape.

I too am now having a problem with the V6000 Pro camcorder cassette deck the head is worn out and I need to find the same one otherwise I will have to buy the same camera for parts or buy an external recorder that will record directly to digital video without recorded on tapes

@@12voltvids digital video camera and camera i have , what i want is just a real analog video camera, not a dumb app on mobile that gives the effect of video tapes, do you know any hi8 video camera that has good image quality and does not have problems with bad capacitors and bad connections?

@@salvatorev_ three were many late model hi8 that don't have capacitor issues. I don't have model numbers handy. The best hi8 handycam ever made was the ccdvx3 3ccd camera however I don't kbow how the caps fare on that one. I have a friend that has one but i don't know if he wants to sell it.
