2500 items? Narrowing down your sourcing to higher prices items makes life so much easier. I lower prices weekly by 5% so I don't accumulate dead inventory. This seems like a good inventory system other than my start dates always change because delisting and doing sell similar helps with the algorithm. I make sales almost immediately after that. I don't do anything except keep like items with other like items. With clothing I pre-bag them and put sku numbers on them. Then they are protected from moths and they are ready to ship. Whatever works for you though. Thanks for sharing.
It's my understanding that when you end a listing and sell similar, or when ebay auto relists an item, the listing start date resets. That's doesn't jive with what you're saying.
Aye, understood. Thanks for the follow-up. Another question, if you will entertain it: If you do not end and sell similar ebay does relist after 30 days, am I correct about that? This auto-relist by ebay doesn't change the original listing date...is that right?
@@jennifercarney1762 I'm not a believer in the end listing and sell similar leading to more sales, I'd rather spend that time sourcing better items that sell thru faster :)
Dude, that's a terrible system where you have to sift through clothes by date of listing. The best system my friend is the simple number system. Every garment has a number from 1 to infinity.. You give every piece a number and you put the clothes in order from 1 to infinity. You don't need to make a video about that!
That adds an extra step 2 steps to the listing process, adding the # to the item and adding that number to your sku, slows down the listing process, I prefer the date based system for speed, I can list more items / hour this way, the more you list, the more $ you make 👍
His system is actually great with the bonus of date listed helps to know when to put items on deep discounts, weed out the old etc. 1 to infinity is ok too, but everyone has their own preferences and what works best for them.
How do you manage your markdowns? When do you start marking items down and do you follow a regular schedule? I noticed you have some pretty high discounts on your items. Some as high as 80%. Thanks
I do markdowns based on how long items have been listed, items listed for x amount of days get marked down x %, I have like 5 or so different tiers of days listed ranges, I could make a video about it if you would like :)
How do you keep up with delisting and selling similar? Does it go into a new date or the same date it first started? Also how do you deal with heavy sweaters that stretch at the hanger? P.s. they can still find your ebay store by searching up the exact title so no need to hide your store name lol
I don't delist and sell similar, if I have to for some reason you can copy the start date and paste it in the sku for the new listing, heavy sweaters I usually fold them around the hanger so they don't get stretched out, and true it's not too hard to find my store lol
You mean like in a bin holding them together vertically? It could work as they hold themselves in place, but as jeans get sold and removed they would all fall onto eachother and get more sloppy
Ye and as your touching those items on the racks i can see loads of dust flying off the items. So how do you control that? Do you have someone go though once a month with a vacuum? If not why not? I mean everything is exposed to the elements. Image that over a 90 day period. Not only dust but moths and other material eating pests?
I do the Daily refinement thing with bags and boxes. On the boxes I have a dry erase label where I can put the starting number and the starting date for that number. On your date system, do you do the "Sell Similar" stunt to relist listing and freshen them up? If so, that is going to wreck a dating system, which is why I use both. I had an issue yesterday where the SKU didn't end up in List Perfectly and I had to look. I knew by the date the appx SKU number and was able to find it. Also, doesn't your system create a lot of dead space above and below? How many Items are we looking at? I'm at about 500 and have 3 shelf units with 15 boxes each in a small room 15x10
I have around 2300+ items listed and another 100+ in a draft bank, I don't do end listing and sell similar, if I did I would copy the start date and paste that in the sku of the new listing, the racks and shelves expand and shrink throughout the year as stuff gets added and sold, racks expand and shrink more naturally so not a lot of dead space, the shelves have more dead space if I don't move any of the dates around, but that's an option if I want to, you do gotta make sure you have the right amount of space for your total items 👍

You are correct the photo screen does add an extra step, but it flies by for me and keeps everthing in order for shipping very nicely. I hang everything as well since I have the space. I organize by size like the stores do and just put the different brands in alphabetical order. Anyone else do that?
I actually used to do it similar to your way, but i didn't like how long it took me to put items away, it's nice with the date based system to just put whole days together at once instead of 1 by 1 in each size, also I would get a lot more duplicate items in the same section which drove me nuts lol, but I think that way works pretty well if you don't have a huge amount of items
