personally i dont have a plan B. ive been in college for 3 years and have nothing to show for it. i wish the education system was better, otherwise i would feel the desire to continue. :/ eh
Eetevan Martinez You're talking to the guy in his 4th year of college who has -2.0gpa. Yes It sucks. I have for a while made poker my plan A and while I win it, doesn't secure my future. I am putting my degree back on plan A going into my 5th year, and poker on the back burner. My dream is to be a poker player, but like a child wishing to become a professional athlete, I really need to focus on the opportunities I've been given (going to college) and making the best of them. The rest can be an afterthought,
i want to be a tattoo artist. i already draw and everything, another is to be a clothing designer and start my own line. i was never going to go to college but graduating with honors in HS got me a scholarship. which ended last year. being low on money to keep going is a huge let down, but i hope it'll give me time to focus more on my art. just not get a degree. i know it'll work out.
Man. 100% legit observation here. Rhymesayers ENT and Strange Music have more talent stacked to the ceiling than major mainstream labels could ever stand to stomach. I like the authenticity and heart that a lot of Rhymesayers artists put into their music, more but that's personal taste. Just damn though. Why aren't THESE artists getting radio play instead of (insert any name). It's rhetorical, so no one answer. I'm just saying I think that the Rhymesayers roster should be what's coming from your speakers. If you know someone who isn't familiar with any artists from here...clue them in. Share the wealth.
i fucking love this guy. his lyrics, his stories, his beats...the fact that he is true to his style and stays in the best place to be for rap...underground! can't wait to see him at summerfest! my inspiration as a writer myself :) June 28
Very simple riff yet very powerful. Reminds me of the the other video of just him and a guitarist live on stage, I think it's called "Not Another Day" or something...similar poetry. Both brilliant
For all of us that love Atmosphere and think they need more exposure, please request any of the UA-cam music react channels u watch to do their songs. It's a great way to get their music out to a new audience. Everyone that I play Atmosphere to, love it, but can't believe they have never heard of them. Let's help real hip hop artists get the love they deserve.
Its been years since ive listened to this album. I remember buying it at Electric Fetus a few weeks after it came out and this song in particular was on repeat for a good week or so. One of their best albums imo.
95% of everyone I would have said has already been mentioned in these other replies. What I didn't see is Pharoahe Monch. Also, if you like the cross-genre stuff, Nappy Roots is pretty good for Southern rap. And if you understand Arabic, check out El Rass.
I contemplate very dark things, especially during these days- I look to Atmosphere to heal and keep myself awake for the next day. #StillNotThere #HopefullyOneDay
My better half is mad at making magic out of canned goods My tax bracket status got her questioning my manhood My shorty got caught smoking weed at a concert And if I smack him everybody treats me like a monster My neighbors ain't doing much better And we make it competition instead of sticking together...
Apparantely it's "marriage ain't doing much better, we making competition instead of sticking together". I always thought it was neighbours as well, but that's not true.
Can't remember and listening to it still makes me hear neighbours and not marriage, but marriage seems to make more sense so whoever thought of that was good.
this song reminds me of my dad, he worked his whole life from the age of 13 doing all kinds of dirty jobs for clean money, in the end all those dirty jobs killed him, he died this year at 58 of lung cancer and secondary cancer all over his body and the last thing he said to me was to be a man, to me what this songs message represents is that of a Man.
Tristan Redding 806 now. Bitches. Gonna get worse before it gets better. Wage inequality is absolutely disgusting in America. I can't for the life of me figure out why we put up with this. Maybe Cheeto fingers was right about one thing. Maybe we should take our fucking country back. I hope these bastards choke on their trickle-down...

Kill the ends introduction
Man I should have schooled it up
When I was younger should have stuck to plan
Always had the dreams of being more self assertive
And my kids a teenager, now he needs the health insurance
So break my body
Break break my soul down
Just another zombie walking blindly through your ghost town
Pull up to the bar to politic and tap the power
Ain't nobody really all that jolly at your happy hour
But I don't want to go home yet
So I'm gonna talk to my cigarette
And that television set
It doesn't matter what brand or station
Anything to take away from the current situation
No overtime pay no holiday
Months behind on everything but the lottery
Went around the corner guaranteeing that my car died
Wifey having trouble trying to juggling both the part times
My cup ain't close to filled up
We trying to build up so we can have enough
And when I finally get the colour
Won't be nothing left to paint on
A friend of mine tried to kill himself to the same song
My better half is mad at making magic out of canned goods
My tax bracket status gotta questioning my man hood
My shorty got caught smoking weed at a concert
And if I smack em everybody treats me like a monster
My neighbors ain't doing much better
And we making competition instead of sticking together
Can't save no nest egg in fact this nest is rented
In fact that rent is late, wait
The money ain't here the raise ain't coming
Just me and my son and that crazy woman
And those bartenders this whole fucking country
Got everybody swallowing that lunch meat
Maybe we can speed up the process
Kill me in my thirties in the name of progress
Put me in the dirt and then change the topic
Some time it seems like the only way to stop it
Contemplate my departure date
Doesn't take a lot to get a lot of us to talk this way
Take a shot at me that's all I'm obligated for
Apparently my only guarantee is a walk away
The only guarantee in life, is a life worth dying for
'Cause death don't wait for no one
Sitting on your front door
The only guarantee in life, is a life worth dying for
'Cause death don't wait for no one
Sitting on your front door"

Well the cool thing is now you can listen to all his stuff and experience it for the first time!
+Gordy Luft welcome to a new stage of your life. We heads welcome you wholeheartedly!
Atmosphere is more of a band. Slug is the rapper, and Ant is the producer. Combined, they make Atmosphere.
+Lucas Thornton became is a awesome song, I like all atmospheres records he's dope
I understood this as a teen, I feel it as an adult 🔥💯
this song has been stuck in my head for the last week. just bubbled up randomly after not hearing it in years.
God's Bathroom floor is my personal favorite.. kinda relate much to my own life story too ... Big ups to Slug and Ant. You fellas save my life everytime I'm about to have a breakdown
Did you make it?
Who still playing this in 24?
Me, I’m playing this shit in 24
Me for the first time...
Me too@@MargaritaCarriere
Us all
Obviously you if you here
This song is a must at every campfire. BEAUTIFUL!
this song is one of the greatest of all time. its a shows the struggle of a working person, and is truly one of the best songs about class struggle I have ever heard. Thanks slug.
Song is very reflective of what’s going on today
Always a generic ass comment like this
@@gunner4126 For real.
The PM Doesn’t make it any less truthful, though, does it? Whereas your comment....kinda pointless, no?
It’s been going on since the Great Depression
And always will be 🙌🏼
So break my body, break break my soul down. Seen atmosphere last week and this song was to good! “Friend of mine tried to kill himself to the same song” crowd all yelled it still get chills
Cody fieldnig I've been lucky enough to catch him twice and Detroit and I've never seen an audience so dead set on reciting every lyric accurately...
man this video used to get heavy play on mtv2. miss those days.
WLG1 wow I was wondering if anyone else saw this on there. I was 10 and it was my intro to atmosphere and a big piece of helping me get into underground rap which is now my life
i was like 17 and a huge atmosphere fan already. would scream and tell my family "slug is on mtv slug is on mtv!"
Thank you Atmosphere, we all needed you, you just happened to know before we did. Once again, With all my heart, thank you for being you.
I graduated because of this song.
This is your "wake-up call" song.
Education is the only way to escape poverty.
false, its not the only way
Eetevan Martinez
Correct. You can play basketball or rap, etc. But that should really be plan b
personally i dont have a plan B. ive been in college for 3 years and have nothing to show for it. i wish the education system was better, otherwise i would feel the desire to continue. :/ eh
Eetevan Martinez
You're talking to the guy in his 4th year of college who has -2.0gpa.
Both brilliant
poet, rapper, artist.
Everybody who listened to this when it came out, knows exactly what he's talking about now.
I just lost a nephew today; he was the one that put me on Atmosphere and got me into hip-hop. Rest in Paradise buddy.
Doesn't matter what brand or station anything to take away from the current situation
this song man.......... thing song
Who else is here during quarantine?

Go fuck yourself
Dude your comment was 7 months ago, we are still in quarantine. Fuck this
@@badeend2095 Let's make the best of a bad situation
@@honeytorres2312 good music defo helps!
Its been years since ive listened to this album. I remember buying it at Electric Fetus a few weeks after it came out and this song in particular was on repeat for a good week or so. One of their best albums imo.
So sad that this is how so many people live.
Too many people.
stoplyinn
agreed
“Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.” -Henry David Thoreau
cruhg Solid quote.
This is my life. Minus the having kids part...
Who could recommend some music that is along the same lines as this?
***** I feel like you just told me a candle was better than the sun.
95% of everyone I would have said has already been mentioned in these other replies. What I didn't see is Pharoahe Monch. Also, if you like the cross-genre stuff, Nappy Roots is pretty good for Southern rap. And if you understand Arabic, check out El Rass.
more atmosphere
blue collar ballad- Sweatshop Union
The only guarantee in life ..
Is a life worth dying for..
Cuz death don't wait for no one ..
Sittin on your front door..
I contemplate very dark things, especially during these days- I look to Atmosphere to heal and keep myself awake for the next day. #StillNotThere #HopefullyOneDay
My better half is mad at making magic out of canned goods
My tax bracket status got her questioning my manhood
My shorty got caught smoking weed at a concert
And if I smack him everybody treats me like a monster
My neighbors ain't doing much better
And we make it competition instead of sticking together...
Apparantely it's "marriage ain't doing much better, we making competition instead of sticking together".
I always thought it was neighbours as well, but that's not true.
MrMushasii Where did you hear that from? I just checked a few different lyric sites and they all say that it's 'neighbors'.
Can't remember and listening to it still makes me hear neighbours and not marriage, but marriage seems to make more sense so whoever thought of that was good.
MrMushasii neighbors. U dont compete with marriage as you do with neighbors
MrMushasii Uh 100% it's neighbors just keep rewinding to that point and you'll hear it.
Wow...so this is hip-hop
Yes, ignore stereotypes. Atmosphere and many other underrated artist are poets!
Thats what I'm sayin...
Not really, there's no drum-break.
Slug is indeed a poet though.
Its real rap man true rhythm and poetry
hip-hop raw poet Cool good lyricism love song best ever poetry raw lyrical era
I remixed Yesterday by Atmosphere! I dedicated it to my grandpa who passed away. I hope I did it justice! Lemme know?
I can listen to this over and over without it ever getting old.
you can tell brother ali was of some inspiration here
this song reminds
me of my dad, he worked his whole life from the age of 13 doing all kinds of dirty jobs for
clean money, in the end all those dirty jobs killed him, he died this year at 58 of lung cancer and secondary
cancer all over his body and the last thing he said to me was to be a man, to me what this songs message represents is that of a Man.
590 people don't know what it's like to struggle and work hard
Tristan Redding 806 now. Bitches. Gonna get worse before it gets better. Wage inequality is absolutely disgusting in America. I can't for the life of me figure out why we put up with this. Maybe Cheeto fingers was right about one thing. Maybe we should take our fucking country back. I hope these bastards choke on their trickle-down...
I watched this video right after it was uploaded, still come back all these years later.
Enjoy the music scroll back up
Thanks you saved me
Six years later and I needed this tonight. Words of wisdom from a stranger. Thank you.
Is this slug or ant in the video?
Slooog
you must be new here....
...this is hip hop.. welcome.. we embrace you.
slug
Nathan Hurst yes...just...yes...well said hahaha
Nathan Hurst at least this person understands Atmosphere consists of 2 members, and isn't just one 'he', like lots of people that make me cringe
only ant can make a sick ass beat without using any bass
So many songs to relate to this guy. Been years of listening to this guy and memorizing every word he has to say. Love the new and old but this is the only song of its kind in his library. Needs to change that
Crying for help in 2012 now again in 2023...
Hope you’re doing good, just know it’s not ever that deep. It’s only ever ankle deep mama, love yourself, and your cup will never empty. I play you’re in a beautiful place
Sounds like the chilly peps on this one
***** sounds like slang, maybe he was saying they are chill. Rap song after all : )
***** I'm pretty sure he means the red hot chili peppers
***** haha what?! He was talking about the red hot chilli peppers.
Yeah I agree. Dig it.
slug reminds me of anthony kiedis here
probably also because this song sounds like it belongs on on a RHCP album, sound very frucsiante and yes he does look like kiedis. strange isnt it, really nice departure form the typical atmosphere song
kiedis/RHCP are massively overrated haha wack shit
This song always has me coming back. For years now.... Good old college years
Slug saved my life from suicide back in 2010 2011
looks like lorde got some music video ideas from this one
Haha word!
how come some pages i can reply to the comments and see replies to comments, and on others(like this one) i cant. i see "in reply to SomeDoucheBag"
Comments made before the change in comment system can no longer be replied too.
i have been a serious hip hop fan for 10+ years and this is real hip hop. a legendary emcee in his prime. unreal. the art is real.
+ Albert Einstein. cause its not a beat its an accompaniment
Anthony Kiedis should be jealous.
AK sucks
By far one of my favorite Atmosphere songs out of his entire catalog.
I miss THIS Atmosphere.
But I will always be a fan. Much Love from St.cloud MN
