Morning Ben! Great video for a beautiful Sunday morning. We are having services this morning but we’re calling off night services to allow members to have time with family. GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸🇺🇸
That’s nice to do I think, I had considered mentioning calling off our services today but decided not too. Time with family is important! Hope you have a great day!
When I was. Teenager, I worked in a machine shop. I would do all the entry level jobs including keeping the grass short. I think cutting grass leads to cutting metal. Most of the mowing was done on a Sears garden tractor. But, he also had a sickle bar for his old Farmall tractor. It did a good job, but scary as hell watching it cut through the high stuff. I was always cautious of running it. You are bringing back memories for me. Happy Independence Day
I like not having rops for getting under low limbs and sheds. A lot of places I plow has low hanging lines where I couldn’t get to with rops. But I do understand your concern! Thank you!
I’m sold on a sickle mower. Amazed at how well it handled both short and long grass and weeds. I couldn’t ride that hill on my Kubota like you did with the Massy. My spincter would be puckered up still 😂 Nice Job 👍
I wouldn’t on my Kubota either going around the hill like that. Sickles do good until you get into fallen and blown down hay, then they clog bad. I enjoy using them some but sure wouldn’t want to cut all my hay with one. Thanks for watching!
Ben good morning 68 sunny we used sickle mower on Massy 44 learned we were putting in storages my buddy had the tip of finger cut of learned from experience Have wonderful Independence Day God Bless All PaK
Yes anybody has to be very careful when raising them up. I got the tip of my glove caught once, luckily I had gloves on that time. Thanks for watching and sharing your story.
Thanks Ben, lovely footage. I made the mistake of not securing the pitman arm in transport on my MF732 mower pulled on a restored 1972 MF135. When I dropped the cutting arm, I bent the knife blade. Hadn't realised it had bounced out along the field. Such a mess!.I always transport with a strap now. The MF manual makes no mention of this. Thanks again from England!!
Good morning Ben, glad to see you enjoy the " Lock n Lube". Im really waiting for the day that i see you on some flat ground lol. A sickle would be a nice addition for me for the pond edges and ditch banks, i guess id have to find one at the right price im sure someday one will come along. The disc cutter bars are definitely a big upgrade from the old sickles.
It’s coming in handy! Yes a disc mower is a big improvement for cutting hay. The sickles are nice around rocks and potential hazards. Thanks for watching!
Cool video. I have a old new idea pull type I trim with. I find myself getting way to rough with it. Good points about watching your hands when lifting the sickle bar!!!
That grease gun works great! I want to get myself a good sickle bar mower, but even a good used one is expensive up here! Sure beats hand cutting that. Lol. Take care
We had a Massey sickle bar mower once, it didn’t hook up to our Deere’s too easy, so we got rid of it and got a Deere 350. The Massey mower mowed good, once we got it on the tractor. Our Massey mower, I think was a model 41, it was all belt drive. Massey had some good points on their mowers, other than not playing nice with green tractors 😂 I guess I should’ve found a little Massey or Ford to put it on.
You’re welcome, your channel is great. I enjoy the videos y’all share. The 350 does pretty good, I can mow as fast with it as I could a disc mower, I’ve got a Hesston mower conditioner too. I keep the 350 for back up, and areas where the mower conditioner it too big.
Good day Sir and Happy 4th of July 😊👍 That side cutter is working realy good and I do think that you are responsible for that to happen by the great way to you maintain your farm equipment's Sir 👍😊 You are very courageous man going high pitch angle side hill 💪👍 Have a great and blessed Sunday and week Sir Cheers 😊🍻
Thank you! I do try to maintain my equipment well, it’s important. As for being courageous, it may be more the lack of good judgment 😂! You have a blessed day as well!
I was hoping you might break out a Sickle Mower. Just started looking into them and am hoping to pick one up after I know enough about them to make a good decision.
I’ve had a Ford 501 and hated it, a John Deere 350 which did pretty good and of course this Massey 42. The Massey is the easiest to hookup. A lot of people really like the New Holland 451’s. Then of course you have the newer double cut sickles which mows great but less durable. Thanks for watching!
Ben Kennedy 66 million years ago the dinosaurs went extinct due to the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction and because of the Chicxulub impact in Mexico and the Deccan traps eruption in India and the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction is an extinction event that happened at the end of the Cretaceous and the end of the entire Mesozoic Era begins with the Cenozoic Era and the Paleogene period and paving the mammals to take over.
Very cool, Ben. That beats holding a string trimmer all day!
That’s for sure! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing this! I always enjoy hearing about other people’s memories and experiences! You have a great day as well!
If you are going to work on that hillside, please consider adding a ROPS!
I like not having rops for getting under low limbs and sheds. A lot of places I plow has low hanging lines where I couldn’t get to with rops. But I do understand your concern! Thank you!
@@khtractors You can get a folding ROPS.
Great video you make trimming those steep hills look easy.
It’s a good combination to use on the hills. I like it a lot better then a weed eater. Thanks for watching!
high pucker factor on them hills, stay safe Ben
Pretty steep for sure! Appreciate you watching!
You get around obstacles mighty fine with that old mower. Great job buddy.
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!

Now that made me crack up! Lol
I live not far from you in pikeville ky I know the feeling when ur tractor is leaning like that it’s hard not get a pucker face great job and be safe
Oh yeah we go to Pikeville pretty often. It’s all steep country in our part of the country, unless you can find a good strip job. Thanks for watching!

That's definitely better than a string trimming all of that.
I thought so 😂! Thanks for watching!
Another great video Ben,have a blessed day and stay Safe.🚜
Thanks! You too!
Thanks for showing the Orchard in action! Love hearing the Perkins! Happy 4th buddy, hope you have a good one!
I’m like you the sound of a Perkins is so enjoyable to listen too! Thanks for watching and you have a great day too!
best weed eater ever..and the best part ya dont usualy get covered in grass or poison oak
Very true! Thanks for watching!

I started strapping mine up because I had the same issue! Thanks!
Would you mind doing a side by side comparison doing all that with a string trimmer? For research purposes... haha!
Ok I’ll time Hayden weed eating it all next time it’s needing done 😂! Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors As a completely different and unique person, I also believe Ben should time himself doing some gas trimming of that entire area!

@@khtractors Yeah, disc mowers are great, but they will almost put a rock in orbit!
Very true!
That lock N lube fitting on that grease gun is worth its weight in gold .
It’s really nice! Thanks for watching!

They do hold there value good, can’t hardly find one under $1,000. I’m really happy with the grease gun! Thanks for watching buddy!
Wayyyy easier! Looks good!
😂 Thanks for watching!

I can see it being hard to hook to some tractors. A 350 Deere is a good machine. Thanks for watching!

Sure beats using the hand held string trimmer 🤣, Happy 4th of July Ben.🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
Oh yes it does! Thanks, you have a great day!
Appreciate the trick with the grease zert love your videos sir
I use the grease zerk trick pretty often on things. Thanks for watching!

Great video👍
Thank buddy!
Good tip with the grease fitting. Also do you make your pitman rods or buy them from Agco?
I’ve bought some and I’ve had my uncle make some. They last pretty good usually by keeping it in the dry. Thanks for watching!
