Yeah... don't spend £10 of a can of MAF Cleaner to fix the issue but pay a Dealer £150 for 1 hour to Diagnose the issue and then charge you £100/hour on top for a 1min fix and wait just 30 to 60mins to dry and refit. Amazing that this is NOT part of a Service when the can even says it needs doing every 10k Miles. Jesus fekking Christ. What a 1st World problem to know about. Fek this thing. Buy a fekking MAF Cleaning Spray Can for £10.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I've heard dealers do that.

There's more to fixing a car than reading the instructions on a can of aftermarket cleaner. To start with, not all manufacturers allow you to clean them. They're easy to damage and feel its safer to just replace them. Now, of course you're going to say that its a big conspiracy to sell parts. Most of the time these sensors are replaced under warranty. You're also assuming there's nothing else wrong with the sensor and cleaning is the only repair.
In the real world, techs have to prove their diagnosis. You can't just get a code and replace a part. That's what Scotty Kilmer does. If I fixed a car that way, I would be fired on the spot. Do you know what the procedure is to check and verify that the airflow sensor is really bad, and not something else? We have to do that. A lot goes on behind the scenes that customers just aren't aware of.
You don't have to take my word for any of this. Get the workshop manual for your vehicle, and read through the diag and repair procedures for the problem you're trying to fix.

@@AT-wl9yq that too. Yet for me and most at Winter the real issue is a Battery which is not getting used and charged fully by small trips to another town and back even ywice a week.
Once the battery is below 12.5V it only takes a hard Winter to deem it as faulty and needs the new REPAIR FUNCTION we find in Trickle Chargers like Hulkman (their Sigma 5 is for Cars NOT Sigma 1).
A poor start adds many Faults like flaps not opening and then adds to other issues when running it with EPC Light on as in "Rich Mode".
Reality is, those were not real faults but needed more startup Volts.
Worth buying one and using REPAIR FUNCTION to keep battery living longer than the 3yr span instead of just buying new Batteries.
