We were told no film title, no plot, just 'project with Gaga' , free entry . BUT, just before she came on stage for the first time, Bradley walked on stage, thanked everyone for coming, and told us that her friend had just died and asked to support her by our attention. We were in that theatre 4+ hours, she did a number of full uncut song takes. each one different. with long breaks inbetween. I sat among complete strangers. we all cried each time. really felt her. it was phenomenal.

I live in Germany. I took my daughter with me to see this movie. I lost my mom to cancer back in 93'. The movie was alright until the Final scene where I had tears in my eyes. Like you said as I look around in the sold out theatre, "the simultaneous gasp in the theatre when the scene cuts to the piano...the utter silence/stillness through the credits, everybody was stunned". My last time seeing something like this at the movies was when I saw the American Sniper, the ending credits and Bohemian Rhapsody. Schöne Grüße aus Bayern.

What makes this performance even more powerful is that she is singing live as it is being recorded on film. Not like most movies where the actors are lip-syncing to previously recorded tracks. That is her, really singing the song, in the moment. It shows a level of talent and skill that is not common today. Beautifully and powerfully performed by an amazing artist.
actors arent singers hence why lipsync is preferrable. furthermore, this scene is also lip sync by her. do you really reckon she sings multiple takes for all the different camera angle again and again? i mean, you cant honestly be that dumb arent you?
I can't say that I've ever seen a performance that I believed more than this one. She truly made me believe that she loved Bradley's character and lost him. She did not get the credit she deserves for this performance.
@stonechops we were awestruck to say the least. she took us to church each time. the resets took ages. she sang live and it was different each take. it was a random tiny newspaper ad, calling for audience members for gaga movie project people lined up around the block. i was lucky to be there early enough. the lower ranks were filled with people all dressed up, because they were more likely to be seen in the background. they filled the rest of the auditorium instead of using CGI with REAL people, for her sake, so she had an audience to connect and resonate. awesome move for both parties I'd say!!!

This is a very special song for me. It helped me to change my live. That was the last movie which i saw together with my narcissistic ex in the cinema. In the end of the movie i was crying because i was able to feel the huge love wich can exist between two people. The ex was laughing about me. He asked - are you stupid to cry because of this shit.... It was the last point when I finally understood what I meant to him ..... Nothing, just a Thing, that he needs to have for his own visions of successful live. He can not love. He is not able to love. I lost him after several mounts after though evening. Just watched this movie for the first time and this scene gutted me. One thing that really jumped out at me is that it's just her and the music and her hair isn't dyed. The way Jack always wanted it and to know that Ally is doing it for him. It's such an amazing and subtle detail. Bradley Cooper did such an incredible job with this movie... I just wish I saw it when it was in theaters.
I saw this with my mother and sisters (my brother had already seen it) and at the end when this scene came up I was on the verge of tears. This film was breathtaking and I’m still miffed it lost Best Picture to Green Book.
Watched this movie recently for the first time, and wow what a movie! Amazing performances all around. Now I see what all the hype was about. It reminded me so much of The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. I have a new found respect for Lady Gaga, she killed it with the performance of this song.

I watched this in the theaters and had to cover my eyes as i teared up so my girlfriend wouldnt see me cry. Not because of some frail idea of masculinity but in sadness because i knew we didn’t have this. That I had to leave because she didnt love me in this way and that I would have to leave and find someone else to love. As much as i lied to myself in the past to make it work this movie showed me in a bittersweet moment that she was not right for me, which is why i hid my tears.
That cut hits you like a fucking brick. This is one of those movies where I wish I could see it again, but I also don't want to relive the pain that comes from watching it. Great, great movie
I can't get over the jump cut...and you realize it was Jack's own broken soul that wrote the song, in a completely sober period of happiness and creativity. Ally was simply singing what Jack felt ..that he was so uncontrollably in love with Ally, but his demons wouldn't let him go...and he knew he'd never love again in this lifetime, because he would orchestrate his own end very soon.

Found out she was dating my close friend during my exams making my soul broke to pieces and it made me belief that I will never love again. I did everything I could. I had been there through her ups and downs. I even let her paint my nails just to see her smile because that angelic smile. 2 years have past, I can still feel the parts of me that is hurting. Every time the suicide scene happens and when she is performing shallow alone then says ”Give it up for my husband” and then it cuts to his dog is when I always burst

Just watched this movie for the first time and this scene gutted me. One thing that really jumped out at me is that it's just her and the music and her hair isn't dyed. The way Jack always wanted it and to know that Ally is doing it for him. It's such an amazing and subtle detail. Bradley Cooper did such an incredible job with this movie... I just wish I saw it when it was in theaters.
I saw this with my mother and sisters (my brother had already seen it) and at the end when this scene came up I was on the verge of tears. This film was breathtaking and I’m still miffed it lost Best Picture to Green Book.

Watched this movie recently for the first time, and wow what a movie! Amazing performances all around. Now I see what all the hype was about. It reminded me so much of The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. I have a new found respect for Lady Gaga, she killed it with the performance of this song.

I watched this in the theaters and had to cover my eyes as i teared up so my girlfriend wouldnt see me cry. Not because of some frail idea of masculinity but in sadness because i knew we didn’t have this. That I had to leave because she didnt love me in this way and that I would have to leave and find someone else to love. As much as i lied to myself in the past to make it work this movie showed me in a bittersweet moment that she was not right for me, which is why i hid my tears.

I can't get over the jump cut...and you realize it was Jack's own broken soul that wrote the song, in a completely sober period of happiness and creativity. Ally was simply singing what Jack felt ..that he was so uncontrollably in love with Ally, but his demons wouldn't let him go...and he knew he'd never love again in this lifetime, because he would orchestrate his own end very soon.
I've just watched this film for the first time and I'm thinking of a dear friend whose husband took his life just over a month ago. The words of the song are so poignant and I'd give anything to see his smile again.

I knew this one girl since secondary school. I gave her everything I could offer when both of us went for our degree. Sadly, I thought I was her everything. Found out she was dating my close friend during my exams making my soul broke to pieces and it made me belief that I will never love again. I did everything I could. I had been there through her ups and downs. I even let her paint my nails just to see her smile because that angelic smile. 2 years have past, I can still feel the parts of me that is hurting. I had always took an oath to myself, to be always a one man lady. And I will continue it that way. Like what this song say, I will never love again.
