And maybe he was mentally beat, after getting taken down and rode hard with a good tight waist breakdown. Knowing he was up against a returning two time NCAA champion who was coached by an Olympian.
Almost looked like, he knew he was beat and tried a Funk roll in desperation. Then when it failed and he was on his back, didn’t seem he fought pin very much at all
Regardless congratulations for getting to finals. That’s an accomplishment in itself.
Some wrestlers may have lost in semis to avoid embarrassment of loss to eventual three time NCAA champion.
So he was brave enough to win semis to reach finals.

I was in person at the tournament and after the finals wrapped up I was speaking to Carter’s family in the stands. Very awesome and chill people. His brother was holding his trophy and they even let me get a picture with it. Unfortunately didn’t get to see carter himself but just his family made me an even bigger fan. Parents raised an awesome kid
You're from my home city Erie Pennsylvania. He's a good kid He comes into our wrestling room and shows moves to the kids all the time gives back good kids

@@davidgantz9378 Usman ended up losing a competitive decision. Carter is young and a very, very skilled athlete. I think he could definitely make the leap and become a hot prospect in MMA like a lot of other guys at Penn St. Bo & Cassar are paving the path and I expect Nolf, Starocci, and RBY to follow and be very successful
He's most likely going to be the first PA wrestler to win 4. That's a big deal in my book.
penn state wrestlers always go to the assistant/brother 1st. That speaks volume to his character.
I noticed that also I think the brother works with the lighter weights and the assitant guy the heavier guys and Cael floats

He has lost in high school especially that freshman year my alumni beat him at 145 I believe
Carter lost 9 times in high school. 6 as a freshman and 3 as a sophomore. He was undefeated as a junior and senior. He ppaced 8,2,1,1 at PA states.
Starocci is a beast, he consistently beats everyone.

To my knowledge, Starocci is at least the third Nittney Lion to win a title with a pin (Vincenzo Joseph and Bo Nickal- their might be more, just the guys I know off the top of my head)

@@jackmcg0 he had one bonus point victory against top 16 ranked opponents. He had 3 falls on the season going into the tournament. Carr, Parris, RBY, and Lee all had higher bonus % going into the NCAA’s

PSU Fan here - That's a disservice to Arujau. He had a great tourney too. I wanted RBY to win but tip of the hat to Vito. He deserved that win all the way.
@@jbsjunk1260 Yea agree....I'm an Iowa fan so was pulling for Vito, but that wasn't a choke. Vito was fantastic in that match otherwise RBY still would have prevailed. I don't pull for Penn State, but they have quality, high character guys and they don't choke.
I heard people saying RBY was in trouble after Vito dominated the semis.

Starrocci talking smack about former D2 champ that’s an MMA fighter is pretty rich considering he has zero professional fights. Like D2 wrestlers suck. They used to let the D2 champs compete in D1 nationals… I’m sure it wasn’t D2 who didn’t want the smoke of starving underdogs.
Usman was D2 and he beat Pat Downey (D1) in freestyle. Downey has done nothing in MMA and Downey was legit.
