I can say that I can completely understand VP position because I've been in the same exact one. I too was terribly in love with someone who, like Andy, close drugs and died because of his decision. I never really cared for VP but I understand that no one can win if the other choice is drugs. Drugs always wins. And Andy was so delicate and fragile that her ultimatum was all he needed to plunge deep into his own world just like my fiance did.

Here's a bit of trivia: Back in March of 1980 at Mt. San Antonio College, CBS was filming a show called "Celebrity Challenge Of The Sexes." Robert Conrad was the coach of the men's team and Victoria Principal was the coach of the women's team. On the men's team was Andy Gibb; in fact he actually held up production because while taking a trial run through the obstacle course, he sprained his ankle and took a quick trip to a local hospital. Andy's drug habit was also his mistress so if you wanna talk about love its obvious he LOVED his drugs more than her.

For those trying to debate if it was VP fault for his death, Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and Andy's own mother said it was not her fault! Andy got into drugs before hooking up with VP and in the end he chose them over her. Maurice said, Andy chose cocaine over his relationship with his brothers for a while. While he had not been doing drugs the year or so before he died, he had went to drinking excessively and had a falling out with Barry the night before Andy went into the hospital. Andy was a wonderful singer and probably a great guy, who knows what kind of dad he was,only Kim, but drugs and the L.A. lifestyle took its toll in the end and he died much younger than he should have.

There is no denying that they were BOTH doing drugs b4 they met & during their relationship. However; when they got together that was when ARG's drug usage got out of control. In an interview, ARG's dad stated that he asked ARG why was he doing so much of "that" & ARG replied; that's the only way I can keep up with VP's demands. Additionally, in a 2004 interview; ARG's mom stated that VP treated ARG horribly. In numerous interviews ARG said it was a one way relationship; in that he loved VP but she didn't love him. Additionally, he had a nervous breakdown, suffered financial & professional loses over a women who was cold, manipulative & selfish. ARG, was a sensitive man. Whether u know him or not. It was very clear in his interviews & when he sang. I don't know whether any1 on this board has every been in love with someone who promises u a future together while cheating on u/planning a future with another man. Breaks ur heart(to the point where u feel like u can't go on with life anymore, take away ur self esteem, ur manhood & then turn their back on u when u needed them the most. Well that's what VP did to ARG. ARG was young & inexperience(granted he had been married b4. But that does not/did not give him the experience to deal with some1 like VP. Even a blind man could see that ARG was infatuated with the character Pam Ewing & he had no clue who VP is/was. ARG, even said that VP was nothing like Pam Ewing. Pam Ewing is/was who he thought he was dating. Who in their right mind move in with a guy 6 days after meeting him. VP should have been woman enough to have walked away b4 this relationship even started. In the end, we are all responsible for our actions/behaviors. However others can contribute to the path that we take. In this case, VP contributed to ARG'S path. ARG, I LV U. I know u are finally at peace & have found happiness in the arms of our Heavenly Father. THANK U for the wonderful memories. U WILL NEVER BE 4GOTTEN!!!!!

Judging from your name you're a big Andy fan so your opinion is biased. I'm not a Victoria or an Andy fan, though I do love one or two of his songs, so I can see things with a straight head. Their relationship as bad as it might have been only lasted a year. Andy didn't die until six years later. Even if he was terribly heartbroken over the break up he had plenty of time to get over it. Victoria even married three years after their rupture. To claim she was a contributing factor to his passing is beyond ridiculous and stubborn. People go through break ups and ups and downs all the time and we don't become addicts over it. Andy had drug and alcohol problems long before he met Victoria and long after their break up. Should we also blame his brothers for being more successful than he was? Were they also contributors to his passing? Ridiculous. Just because you're a heartbroken fan it doesn't mean you should make ridiculous claims.
Barry called him to tell him to straighten up. He said he was trying the tough love route and now regrets it, as it was his last conversation ever with him.
He didn't actually die from drugs. He died from myocarditis---inflammation of the heart. It can be caused by a number of things: parvovirus, lyme' disease, ect. Autoimmune issues can contribute as well as a sensitivity to drugs. His drug use my have played a part, but his brother stated he was clean, although suffering from dpression.

Until you yourself have been in that situation, you will never understand. Addiction can be very dangerous. I stayed with someone for 6 years who has an addiction and it nearly killed me. No one can say she didn't love him it is a lot to handle. All the love in the world couldn't help Andy because he couldn't or wouldnt help himself. Andy's drug habit was also his mistress so if you wanna talk about love its obvious he LOVED his drugs more than her.

Andy was my very first crush. Such a handsome guy, and that incredible hairy chest, lol. I loved Andy because I never saw a hairy-chested guy who was more proud of his pelt than Andy. In almost every last pic of him his shirt was unbuttoned way down to reveal all that luscious fur. For those trying to debate if it was VP fault for his death, Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and Andy's own mother said it was not her fault! Andy got into drugs before hooking up with VP and in the end he chose them over her. Maurice said, Andy chose cocaine over his relationship with his brothers for a while. While he had not been doing drugs the year or so before he died, he had went to drinking excessively and had a falling out with Barry the night before Andy went into the hospital. Andy was a wonderful singer and probably a great guy, who knows what kind of dad he was,only Kim, but drugs and the L.A. lifestyle took its toll in the end and he died much younger than he should have.

There is no denying that they were BOTH doing drugs b4 they met & during their relationship. However; when they got together that was when ARG's drug usage got out of control.
In an interview, ARG's dad stated that he asked ARG why was he doing so much of "that" & ARG replied; that's the only way I can keep up with VP's demands. Additionally, in a 2004 interview; ARG's mom stated that VP treated ARG horribly.
In numerous interviews ARG said it was a one way relationship; in that he loved VP but she didn't love him. Additionally, he had a nervous breakdown, suffered financial & professional loses over a women who was cold, manipulative & selfish.
ARG, was a sensitive man. Whether u know him or not. It was very clear in his interviews & when he sang.
I don't know whether any1 on this board has every been in love with someone who promises u a future together while cheating on u/planning a future with another man. Breaks ur heart(to the point where u feel like u can't go on with life anymore, take away ur self esteem, ur manhood & then turn their back on u when u needed them the most. Well that's what VP did to ARG.
ARG was young & inexperience(granted he had been married b4. But that does not/did not give him the experience to deal with some1 like VP.
Even a blind man could see that ARG was infatuated with the character Pam Ewing & he had no clue who VP is/was. ARG, even said that VP was nothing like Pam Ewing. Pam Ewing is/was who he thought he was dating.
Who in their right mind move in with a guy 6 days after meeting him. VP should have been woman enough to have walked away b4 this relationship even started.
In the end, we are all responsible for our actions/behaviors. However others can contribute to the path that we take. In this case, VP contributed to ARG'S path.
ARG, I LV U. I know u are finally at peace & have found happiness in the arms of our Heavenly Father. THANK U for the wonderful memories. U WILL NEVER BE 4GOTTEN!!!!!

Judging from your name you're a big Andy fan so your opinion is biased. I'm not a Victoria or an Andy fan, though I do love one or two of his songs, so I can see things with a straight head. Their relationship as bad as it might have been only lasted a year. Andy didn't die until six years later. Even if he was terribly heartbroken over the break up he had plenty of time to get over it. Victoria even married three years after their rupture. To claim she was a contributing factor to his passing is beyond ridiculous and stubborn. People go through break ups and ups and downs all the time and we don't become addicts over it. Andy had drug and alcohol problems long before he met Victoria and long after their break up. Should we also blame his brothers for being more successful than he was? Were they also contributors to his passing? Ridiculous. Just because you're a heartbroken fan it doesn't mean you should make ridiculous claims.
Barry called him to tell him to straighten up. He said he was trying the tough love route and now regrets it, as it was his last conversation ever with him.

He didn't actually die from drugs. He died from myocarditis---inflammation of the heart. It can be caused by a number of things: parvovirus, lyme' disease, ect. Autoimmune issues can contribute as well as a sensitivity to drugs. His drug use my have played a part, but his brother stated he was clean, although suffering from dpression.

Woody German You're exactly right. At a young 44 years old my brother had an internal defibrillator because of extensive steroid use in his teens to gain a college football scholarship.
he wasnt clean, he started drinking heavily. The last days he was drunk most of the time. His drug past and his recent alchoolism may played a fatal part
His Mom said the damage had been done. It was the drugs, he was clean when he died. so so sad

I think in the end the age difference hurt him. He said she out grew him which is probably true --her being a kind of mother figure and organizing his life isn't healthy in a romantic relationship-so when he lost that, it was hard on him. She being older had an easier time and that hurt him even more that she was not in as much pain as him. Wow, in the end I wish he could've realized there are other women in the world.
