After 10 years my 12 KW Honeywell generator (which everything inside the cover was labeled "Generac") with 230 hours on it, started blowing a huge cloud of blue smoke out when it would start up and the voltage/frequency would fluctuate way out of normal acceptable values constantly. Using a cheap cell phone "bore scope" to look at inside the front cylinder, I saw some oil pooling on top of the cylinder head. Did all my own maintenance including valve adjustment, oil changes, etc. every year. Upgraded to a18 kw Honeywell installed by my HVAC company, I use which has begun to service/install generators. They indicate they are a certified generac dealer/service provider. When I pull up the warranty information from the generator wireless link it said I have the following: 5 years Parts, 5 years labor, and 5 years travel. Do you know if Honeywell generators have a different standard limited warranty, because the installation technician told me basically the warranty was the same as what you covered with the different yearly coverage limits. Thanks for the video.
@@geraldfoon6283 the Honeywell standard warranty is 5 years limited. There is a 5, 7 and 10 year extended which takes you to the bumper to bumper like I explained in the video. Unless someone upgraded you under a promo or you did it yourself then you probably have a standard 5 year limited. You can easily find out by calling Generac with your serial number or any authorized dealer can look it up on their account. 1-888-Generac is the number. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching my videos!
I love my 22kw Generac. Installed 6 years ago by Ideal Power Solutions in Lafayette Indiana. It has operated flawlessly several times for as many 72 hours during an outage.
@@9__fingers thank you for the comment. I’m glad you are getting some use out of your generator. Many people feel that they wasted their money once it is installed and the power will go out again.
We had a whole house 24 kW Generac standby generator installed November 2021 and it came with the seven year extended warranty and just recently now that I’ve passed my third year now in January 2025 they’re telling me I have to pay $450 to have the oil changed in my generator and a new filter for the oil. I was assuming that that was all included and covered in my seven year warranty. Is there anything I have to pay for parts or service in the seven years like maintenance oil changes please let me know.?
@@nurselvn6781 you should be getting your generator serviced routinely. There is a maintenance schedule in the owners manual. We do them annually. This has nothing to do with your warranty from the factory. Two different things. Your warranty will protect you is something goes wrong with the unit during those 7 years you have. However the factory is going to want to see that you had been taking care of your generator with routine maintenance. Hope this helps.
@@aaronsg71 just make sure it was installed by a certified Generac installer. If there are any issues with it, they should be able to take care of them under warranty. They are really good units.

We literally just had a whole house Generac installed today, are we going to regret this?
