  • How to get faster with Fast Eccentrics, The Key to Speed Training.
    You may be used to doing slow controlled eccentrics for building muscle, but for speed you might want to include some fast eccentric movements such as:
    Band KB Swing
    Split Squat Drop and catch
    MB Wall Ball
    Power clean catch
    Deceleration Lunges
    Adding an isometric in a lunge position at the bottom of a fast eccentric can be used to build better co contractions and stability. For example for split squat for Olympic lifter doing split jerk.

    Love these videos! I am a triathlete and currently writing my strength program for the upcoming year. I'd love more vids on speed for endurance runners. And maybe if plyometrics & contrast training, etc changes, for more slow twitch athletes. Thanks, keep up the good content!

      There would be some tweaks, but actually all of this is directly applicable. Lower limb stiffness is a massive factor in running economy.

    How do I progress overload on these exercises? What intensity range should be used, is it around 40% 1RM?

    • @TheMovementSystem
      @TheMovementSystem  Рік тому

      Yea you can add weight a little bit but often the progress just comes from doing the move more quickly which is actually fairly difficult to see and measure. In my vertical jump program for example, I typically load around 10-40% 1RM depending on the exercise and keep the load the same for about 4 weeks.

    Please may I ask if you can recommend an affordable fly wheel machine? All the ones I know of are prohibitively expensive.
    Thanks
