This was two ideas combined into one and a good way for me to get the rest of the Pizza Tower out of my system. Though there's a few things that drag on too long I had too much fun.

@@WolfyTheDark I'm not kidding, it's in the game! Randomly on the side outside the station for the deep dive, the trash disposal will spew out random garbage, leaf lover glasses and Doretta head

Doretta's head stays near the weapon modification terminal, with a note "fix me please".

and then the devs introduced this mechanic because of the community's outcry.

I once had a mission where this twice over promoted scout suggested we leave dotty behind, I have never seen a team turn and shoot the same thing so fast, brought a tear to my eye

The best part about saving doretta is that theres no reward for it. No credits, no minerals, no achievement, nothing and im 100% serious.
Saving doretta is drg's shopping cart problem.
You dont get anything for it, not even recognition. But, you still do it anyways because its whats right.
The only thing you get from saving dotty is satisfaction in knowing you are a good dwarf, and the happy boops of out loveable little drilldozer.
Actually you get something after saving Doretta. You'll get cart with Dotty head and "please fix me" note on it at the space rig. It'll appear near pickaxe terminal but sadly it disappears after starting any new mission or rejoining game :(

sometimes, we have those times where we were running for our lives with dotty's head, in the mean time, we play hot potato with the head as if the head causes more aggro on the glyphids
well not just the head but them bugs prefer to attack the occupied dwarf over the ones with free arms and a gun ready to kill

Dotty really is a prime example of the Shopping Cart Theory. You don't gain anything for saving Dotty nor is it required. But some people still feel it's their duty to rescue her
Remember, dwarves; If someone leaves a valued coworker like Doretta, they are likely the same ones who left Karl, and are likely to leave you, too. Be wary of these leaf-lovers, they are sabatuers from rival companies looking to dismantle our camaraderie to make us easier to take down. Stay strong, brothers, and never leave a dwarf behind! That includes Dotty, she's more a dwarf than the rest of us.

I now feel horrible because i was not aware of this mechanic and upon completing my first ever escort mission i just looked at the exploded Doretta like "Noooo whyyyy D:", and i didn't see or hear any head
Now there won't be a single escort mission spent without looking for the head
Tbf it wasn't even a mechanic originally to my knowledge. I just lucked out because I pinged her head with Bosco around out of curiosity when I saw it fly off. Felt bad about her blowing up.

I was on a haz 5 in the middle of extraction when we realized we forgot Dottie at an event. I simply said "ill find her" and went back to search. Found her after evading two enemy spawns and started making my way back.
When faced with an almost 90 degree hill, and swarm on my ass, I look up to see a fresh zipline ending at my foot and a hail of covering fire from the other end. Me and the gunner kept tossing Dottie to each other like a game of catch while shooting behind.
The drop pod was a complete Charlie Foxtrot of mobs everywhere with pics poor pod placement by mission control. We lost Doretta's head twice in the chaos. Eventually extracting with seconds to spare.
Leave no Dwarf (or drilldozer) Behind.

There was this gane where the scout took doretta almost all the way to the drop pot but drop the head on the very end all the team was ready to leave without dotty but i as the driller couldn't leave without it, i made them wait 1 hole minute while i found the head and bring it to the drop pot

Get the pizza tower soundtrack mod. Only downside is that it one of the tracks (I think "Tuesday." It's one of the hubworld songs) has pulsing in it that sounds a lot like a helmet or battery

Wow... I've never actually seen the nemesis spawn... it's neat that it can apparently just warp in like that
I spawned that one in using a mod (listed in the description!), but yeah, it can actually do crazy spawns like that. I saw one the other day (sadly no recording) spawn in the darkness in front of our drop pod as we came in.

Just had a mission where i threw dotty to the entrance of of the drop pod, stepped one step too many inside and mission ends with dotty never finding a home in her corner... instead sinking through the floor to be left with Karl. The only thing that keeps me going today is knowing Karl is keeping good care of her. 😢
This is probably my favorite DRG video, even more than the Hiring for Hoxxes submissions.

Oh my god. I keep getting more and more surprised by the quality and effort put into drg videos. This was truly an amazing mix of effort and editing to combine great storytelling. its so good it seems like scripted, like a rival bot appearing right as you find doretta?? Awesome. Not to mention how you seemlessly blended actual gameplay with animation, my favorite being when you jumped off a grunt, truly wonderful. 10/10
I always try to bring Doretta, however sometimes due to unfortunate circumstances it’s not always possible. Each failed attempt is a dwarf(doretta) left behind.

First, I'd just like to say thanks, everyone. Glad you're enjoying this and thankful to those of you making these nice comments. I read them all and greatly appreciate the feedback, the stories you share, and general niceties.
Second, and specifically to the Deep Rock community who make up the majority of the former: I may or may not be making many things like this (this being one of my first/main blowups I actually care about) so don't subscribe expecting Deep Rock or memey things. I have plans that in the near future to do more, but I do variety things and may not come back to Deep Rock or any specific thing for a bit.

I had a game where two teammates went down going the wrong way to the drop pod. 4 minutes left and over 100ms away. Spent everything I had to get them back and had time to pick up Dotty cause they dropped her. (I went for Dotty not them let's be honest). And made it back with 15 seconds left.

I had one mission with a scout that ACTIVELY PREVENTED me from saving doretta. I have never felt such negative emotion before in deep rock. He even called doretta stupid. May your beer forever be leaf lovers Yinny, you monster.

Saving doretta is what my scout is built for, all speed buffs grapple and dash with pheromone nades strong arm. I dont have the boomstick mod that sends me flying yet but still i work hard for dotty

In Warhammer 40k, there’s a race of Dwarven clones known as the Kin, formerly the Squats. They live alongside sapient robots known as the Ironkin, whom they respect and treat as equals. I bring this up because I like to apply this to the DRG Dwarves and robots. Whether it’s Doretha or Bosco or even Hacksy, “no Dwarf left behind” applies to our bots as well.

I was once on a team, and everyone but me forgot about Doretta, so I had to rush back with only a few spare minutes to bring her back (as gunner), and I thought nobody was gonna come back to help, but it turns out the teams driller had come back to assist me, and even though we got dotty back to the pod her head sadly glitched out and never appeared when we were leaving 😢.
