I had a blast both building this car and editing this video. I hope you all enjoyed watching it as much as I did making it. Also thanks for your patience between uploads. 👍
Beautiful and brilliant work! Just a tip on decals, always trim the decals nice and close. Also, I like to split decals around and mold or door spacings. Makes for a more realistic decal. Also, finely scuffing up the real tail lights on the outside and adding a bit of wash makes for good realism. However, as is, this is awesome! Everyone needs to share this and spread the word to make your business grow! :)
Dude you did an amazing job. She looks beautiful. The handling looks good. The turning radius is very tight. You can tell you couldn't open her up. You didn't have room enough. It's ok. She looks very quick. I bet she's fast. I think it would do well at drifting also. Keep up the good work. What you do is different. I like it. Good example of standing out in a good positive way. Good job.
That strange feeling when you click this video in your recommended list and don't realize it's a 52 min long video, before he says "or just provide you with an hour of entertainment." lol
I two want a g body model rc build since there none it on youtube right now so please make it rc are you going to do in the future and yes i love your z28 build it's well done video that is great start on doing your own rc build. P.S. I hope that soon you will bring us new video so that it for now see you later.
Mind blowing detail for a 1/25 scale R/C car with a detailed interior! Cant get over the tail lights, the wiring and the performance. You are HIRED my friend! 😃 Let us know if your taking orders plz (chassis/suspension/motor/battery/wiring) not paint or finishing, 1/24 or 1/25 scale if possible.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it. We have a variety of 1/24-1/25 scale products on our site. If there is something specific you want or something you can't find let me know. Link: shop.makeitrc.com/
When you put windows in, you should consider “tinting” them either by painting them on the inside or even actual window tint you can purchase from your local auto store. It will add to the sleekness and reality of the car.
I find acrylics to be the most difficult to paint on smooth. There are airbrush "flow improvers" that can be added so that the orange peel is minimized.
Glad you added those exhaust pipes. They really complete the car. Only thing that I wasn't a huge fan of was that LED status light that was visible at certain angles. I know it's a necessary evil it just sort of detracted from the overall scale of it. Loved the design and color choices overall though.
I've never used an airbrush, but ive painted all my life. My orange peel advice is very very light coats and gradually thicken up, the 1st coat is almost redundantly light but its so the rest starts to stick more evenly. each coat after words again very lightly will thicken and darken. You'll forget what orange peel is, and always give extra time to cure so you wont get chips. I would think you would know this but you said orange peel was giving you issues. your models rock and I cant solder to save my life! Oh and the custom headliner is badass and an awesome idea!
Hey just a quick question about the motor, from what it appears the way you wired up the motor it can only turn on or off especially since it looks like it’s a dc motor, am I right about it being only able to turn on or off? Or is that esc able to get it to move at different speeds? Could you explain that a little? I’m trying to do one of these with a Miata kit and I don’t know super much about electronics and all the brushed esc compatible motors I’ve found are really big and I wanted to have a smaller one like you since it’s a 1/24 scale model
Cool. I had a black, 1/5 scale mid 80s Z-28 back when I was a kid. It was huge and very detailed! That would be awesome to make into an RC, it was so big it even had a key and every gauge was legible.
I'm not sure about acrylics. But I paint cars for a living. Hardened urathane paints and will hold up much better to real use like an rc car gets than anything unhardened Clear especially. And clear coat get a light tack coat at first but needs less dry time between coats and wet deep second and third coats. On real cars the clear tends to look best when it's right on the edge of thick enough to run. These videos are very fun. I'm planning my own rc 1/25 build.
Love the build, truly inspiring. I always wondered if i could make such a small scale model an rc, just to find out today its been done and theres a community. I made the same model kit but its just a model lol, i might buy another just to make it an rc. These 3rd gens are my favorite i own a 84 z/28 1:1 scale. Your attention to detail is spot on, for a second i thought you were going to forget the black line on the tail light, but you didnt As for the orange peel, Try the compound with a buffing pad dremmel has a small one in some kits. just pace it, dont stay in one spot, and careful with corners to avoid peeling the paint. Black paint is the hardest to polish but if you do it right nothing compares, trust me im a autobody tech.
You know, this is longest video that I watched without get bored.. I really enjoy step by step of this.. At first I thought that I want to skip to building axle, but hey I watched it from start to the end.. 😂
Fantastic build. You got all the exterior details correct. I am currently building this same kit (non rc), and am painting the exterior in charcoal with gold trim, an extremely rare color combo for the '83-'84 Z28. You gave me some great ideas for extra detail on the interior. Many thanks.
If you can’t move the front undercarriage weights much higher, consider making a faux front air dam. To my knowledge many of the 80s Camaros had these under the front end to vent cool air to the motor.
That's a good idea. I experimented a bit with adding an air dam to hide the weights but I thought it just stuck out too much and didn't quite look right.
If you use a c-channel programmer and programming software, you could take your skills to the next level.Carefully drill out all of the dash board levers and knobs and install fiber optics, and replace the speedometers with clear plastic stock with a waterside decal, install a bluetooth stereo system, and make the doors open with a functioning overhead interior light, functioning red doorlights, and this converted 1:25 scale plastic model car of the 1986 Camaro Z28 by AMT would be a show stopper;and no doubt in my mind would win both best in show and 1st place at the IPMS model show.
the paint is quite unique, this is something that would be quite normal for a Pontiac Firebird.. it's not so common on the Camaro, but I do have to say I quite like it, the rims also would more closely represent firebird rims instead of Camaro ones further enhancing that look
Excelente trabajo amigo me hubiese gustado que las puertas se abrieran y las luces le funcionaran tanto las traseras como las delanteras pero buen trabajo amigo Para tu próximo proyecto construye una jeep wagonner limited de 1979
this is awesome, what could be cool is if you made a scaled up version of this and also for tires try experimenting with ninja flex filament (or something of the equivalent).
Wow great work, but that kit should have come with a wide body kit including massive fender flares and a front facia with headlight deletes. Either way awesome job 👏
it would be cool if they made models that can easily become RC cars, call them some kind of RC kit car that allows you to assemble with ease and paint it to your liking. Then you will not have to sand and cut everything to fit, someone could make millions off this idea.
You could make the wires look like the exhaust pipes and then finish them with the tail section you have printed. As for the lead I would have fitted more smaller pieces in gaps under the hood, sure it's cramped but seems like you can fit much more in there. Any way great build and I envy the patience;)
nice job bro, but you have to wash the body really well with soap and warm water to get a better paint finish , but in all man thats one hell of a job. turned out good, you can 3d print a front air damn for the front of the bumper , all camaros had them
That's scale orange peel from a repaint in the early 90's after the owner crashed it while doing a line of blow... Haha, great looking car! I always have a soft spot for these Camaros.
This is pretty cool. Wonder if this is possible a c1500 454 ss by AMT. might be able to hide a bunch of the electronics in the bed if you made a bed cover for it.
Can you please do a 1/24 model kit RC using a Mini-Q RC chassy. No one has tried this and the once who do never really say how they did it. I want to make one with a 1/25 to 1/27 scale Model kit but i dom't know how i'll mount it and what mod will i do for it to fit just right for the 94mm wheelbase or 98mm once. You can give me some tips if you'd like cause i am really new to this hobby kit conversion.
Would be cool if you could add some lighting to the models as in headlights and tail lights. I have seen a guy do it for matchbox sized models used for Faller roadways in model train layouts.
Maybe for next model for head lights instead of silver paint better to use an alluminum duct tape? it much more reflective and mirror'like ) Plus would be good to cover on wheels the nuts with 3d printed caps
i am gonna start doing a rc car came across your saura d4 build an may start with that, i noticed you working with the glass pieces on this car if you scratch them sand really finely and then take a small torch run it across and should glass right up. on another note any advice for a beginner rc car person?
i have a question for you I got a model plow truck I like to turn into RC but I don't have a 3D printer so I'm wondering how can I still make it an rc truck..
I had a blast both building this car and editing this video. I hope you all enjoyed watching it as much as I did making it. Also thanks for your patience between uploads. 👍
Would love to hear your thoughts on other chassis builds for models 1/24 scale and if you could possibly make something universal for rwd R/C builds.
Glad you liked the video. Thanks for the tips. 👍
I cant wait to see what your going to build next...I hope its a classic and a breath of fresh air from the 80s/90s era

I’d love to see a Grand National built like this

That's a great idea. I've done that with larger 1/10 scale bodies but never on a 1/25 scale car. I'll give it a try sometime.
I find acrylics to be the most difficult to paint on smooth. There are airbrush "flow improvers" that can be added so that the orange peel is minimized.

Yeah I agree that light although useful is a little distracting, I might just paint over it. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍
unbelievable! Speechless! Incredable attention to detail! Execellent job!
..you did a Gen 3 Camaro justice...vey beautiful model....
I like how you showcase viewers builds at the end of your videos. Inspirational to see other peoples builds.
I had that model kit when I was in Jr high. It was a fun kit. I also had an impala kit and always wanted to see one as an rc
That’s awesome dude! I use to dream about my models being RC when I was a kid in the 80’s!
Love it 👍
I've never used an airbrush, but ive painted all my life. Micro Sol really helps with the film on the decals, makes it look painted on
Thank you for the video. I gotta say I miss the weekly updates though.
oh nice, we're finally out here watching the Make It RC full feature film
For acrylics, I've found that bump pressure up a bit (25-30psi) instead of 15-20 psi - and use 0.4mm instead of 0.2mm normally used for the lacquers.

Amazing video! The step by step process was pieced together perfect, same with the music & commentary for a long video.
I liked how he used Nimbus - Eveningland for the music in the video
Cool.
I had a black, 1/5 scale mid 80s Z-28 back when I was a kid. It was huge and very detailed!
That would be awesome to make into an RC, it was so big it even had a key and every gauge was legible.
Absolutely love this build!
I would like to see you do the same process or an even larger scale model car Otherwise an absolute phenomenal build
Hey, anyone remember Knight Rider W/ David Hasselhoff?? This looks a lot like K.I.T.T!!
250 comments, 2000 likes, 100,000 views? This channel is so underrated!
Why not a lot of people know about this?
I'm not sure about acrylics.
But I paint cars for a living.
Hardened urathane paints and will hold up much better to real use like an rc car gets than anything
unhardened

@@MakeItRC i am starting a 1/8 Kenneth with drop float RC build
I Like how it looks like a engine good wire placement
I would love to see a 1969 pontiac grand prix like this
I wouldn't bother with acrylics for painting model cars. Enamel all the way
Acrylics are good to. Tamiya laquer paints are very good
Model lacquer paints have some of the strongest adhesion properties. I doubt you’d have chopping issues with those paints

Couldn't stop watching! Great job!
You know, this is longest video that I watched without get bored..

At first I thought that I want to skip to building axle, but hey I watched it from start to the end..
😂
am i the only one that noticed at 45:12 the Z28 badge actually reads Z 3 8 ?
Great job on it you should build a truck next or add some lights it's really nice
Thats the most 80s looking Camaro. So bad ass.
The synthwave goes well with the cars vintage. 🙂
Fantastic build. You got all the exterior details correct. I am currently building this same kit (non rc), and am painting the exterior in charcoal with gold trim, an extremely rare color combo for the '83-'84 Z28. You gave me some great ideas for extra detail on the interior. Many thanks.

A 1/25 scale drag car would be amazing, it would need a lot more custom work on the model though
Looks great and you combined two hobbies, should try some Tamiya, Fujimi and Aoshima kits next.
I watched 1 of your videos and was hooked, now i have my monster RC and wanting to build and drift more
Nice build. Make a Knight Rider body to slap on that puppy!

I use Aries Beats music in some of my videos. You sir, have excellent taste!
Excelente trabajo amigo me hubiese gustado que las puertas se abrieran y las luces le funcionaran tanto las traseras como las delanteras pero buen trabajo amigo Para tu próximo proyecto construye una jeep wagonner limited de 1979
Square body years were some of the best by Chevy love the intro and the music
Wonderful. Camaro in Firebird paint scheme.
As with all of your projects this is awesome your attention to detail is incredible
I did something similar to this But it was with a 1/10 scale model of a Camaro much easier to work with LOL
It would be cool if you made a glow in the dark race track for you're Camaro.
Adam Pasquale your*
Mighty fine series and modeling work. Please keep this scale of rc coming !!!!!!!!
this is awesome, what could be cool is if you made a scaled up version of this and also for tires try experimenting with ninja flex filament (or something of the equivalent).
You should have working headlights in these cars.😊
dont forget taillights and possibly turnsignals
Wow great work, but that kit should have come with a wide body kit including massive fender flares and a front facia with headlight deletes. Either way awesome job 👏
Nice build, very interesting and inspiring. Keep up the great work.
This is perfect for my 1 hour download
Such a cool little build. Makes me want a 3D printer even more.
it would be cool if they made models that can easily become RC cars, call them some kind of RC kit car that allows you to assemble with ease and paint it to your liking. Then you will not have to sand and cut everything to fit, someone could make millions off this idea.
Beautiful build....
I once before sudggested you try cutting the tip off a pin.... that works great to dab paint - for details ---- eg Cockpit...
Mold lead to the front clip behind the bumper and air foil and grill areas.
If it had been a firebird I would have said, "Excellent Micheal"
Made it to the 13 second mark before I liked the video. Intro is golden. LOL
You could make the wires look like the exhaust pipes and then finish them with the tail section you have printed. Lol I watched for like a year for this to be finally uploaded jus randomly checkin in every few months
a 52 minute video? heck yeah!
nice job bro, but you have to wash the body really well with soap and warm water to get a better paint finish , but in all man thats one hell of a job. turned out good,
you can 3d print a front air damn for the front of the bumper , all camaros had them
Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍 Will be sure to be more thorough with washing next time.
My Rally Sport had an even lower air dam under the front that went straight across the front and perpendicular to the side of the car.
MAN I WISH I COULD MAKE MY OWN STUFF LIKE YOU SO AWESOME
wow, good job. Wish you could have done the 1/8th scale...
the wires almost look like the exhaust. maybe paint them silver? Awesome build!
That's scale orange peel from a repaint in the early 90's after the owner crashed it while doing a line of blow...
Haha, great looking car! I always have a soft spot for these Camaros.
There you go! Build a car to match a story or make a story to match the car. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍
This is pretty cool. Wonder if this is possible a c1500 454 ss by AMT. might be able to hide a bunch of the electronics in the bed if you made a bed cover for it.

Nice Job, ride height looks perfect. 👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing man, cant wait to see the skyline finished
Awesome build, made my lunch break!
Hello and welcome to engineering explained.
Would be cool if you could add some lighting to the models as in headlights and tail lights. I have seen a guy do it for matchbox sized models used for Faller roadways in model train layouts.
I agree, at some point I'd like to do a build in this scale with functioning headlights and taillights.
You deserve more subs! Amazing editing and love the car! Good work!
Excellent build. Turned out really nice.
This is a very fantastic well made video really really enjoyed it !
This has truly inspired me
That is a stunning build!
Hi, couldn't you mount the weights vertically behind the grill like where the radiator and condenser sit in a normal car??
I feel as though the new Camaros have the shape of the 1983 roofline with the 1969 bumper and everything gets modernized.
Great build! Any plans for a Toyota Supra?
Thank you! No plans to build a Supra at this time but that would be a cool build.
Awesome work ! Can the next parts u design be for a 1/25 scale truck or suburban? Keep up the sick looking work
I used to own a '92 V8 RS as my first car. I'd love to make a replica of it using this chassis.
The esc is like a front mount intercooler.
Ill be mounting those lead weights under the bonnet itself
Maybe for next model for head lights instead of silver paint better to use an alluminum duct tape? it much more reflective and mirror'like ) Plus would be good to cover on wheels the nuts with 3d printed caps
I finally found a channel that understands what i hope one day i can do 😀 subscribeddddd
i am gonna start doing a rc car came across your saura d4 build an may start with that, i noticed you working with the glass pieces on this car if you scratch them sand really finely and then take a small torch run it across and should glass right up. on another note any advice for a beginner rc car person?
I watched ALL the video ! It's so interesting and pleasant to see how you build it ! Thank again for sharing this awesome projet
Is there space on the underside of the hood to attach your lead weight?
i have a question for you I got a model plow truck I like to turn into RC but I don't have a 3D printer so I'm wondering how can I still make it an rc truck..
you can use some of the engine part and spaced it over the motor to have a folly realistic engine bay
Great build and video
Yeah. Whats your scale rating of the traxxas UDR I did some painting on mine to make it more scale.
Simply awesome
