I ordered this to net the algae in a large pond in our backyard. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxphFK7ETiDP5G4IGsNcg7vbASDp_YfDpI The net is very sturdy and easy to maneuver in the water. The angled edges make it easier to get into the smaller spaces among the rocks. I didn't realize that the front of the net doesn't actually have a frame to it, just the sides do, but it seems to work just fine. The handle extends to various sizes, which is a great feature when I'm in areas that are tight with shrubs at the edges of the pond. I can collapse the handle so it doesn't get stuck in the bushes.
Thank you for sharing this, I’m a novice at best and was having real issues keeping fluoro leaders baited. My confidence level went up 200% every time a cast. Great knot, easy to tie.
On attempt number four, 3nd attempt was flawless.... I have a tournament in 10 days.... if this holds up, I will be forever pulling for Brent Ehrler in all MLF tournaments!!!!
I just tied it looks super strong and solid l did six wraps on the double uni, lots of water to stop the friction heating the line clinching down! Thank you very much Sir!
After learning this knot from Brent a few years back, I will not see myself going back to the palomar knot ever again. Palomar knot caused me too many heart aches. Seriously, I have not tied one single palomar knot ever since I learned this knot a few years ago. Wish I would of learned this knot sooner earlier in my fishing career. Would have saved me a ton of money and landing more fish. Great tutorial Brent, you the man!
its also worth mentioning to check that the double line gong through the eye of the lure or swivel is not crossed over each other, the two lines going through the eye should be parallel, otherwise you are back to the same problem you had with the palomar. the crossed lines will cinch down on each other and break off
I tested this knot against the Double Pitzen knot. Three times with mono and three times with Fluro. The Double Line Uni Knot won in all Mono tests and twice in Fluro tests. This is favorite knot now.
Similar to the Double Pitzen with doubling the line thru the eye and wrapping 3 times, pulling tight and ending up with 3 tag ends. I went from the Palomar with flour to the Double Pitzen. I'll go ahead and try this version.
This works amazing for dropshots too, just cut the loop tag and leave the single tag for running through the hook. The extra knot size helps the weight hold your dropshot hook horizontally.
Yep I needed this. Tied the generic fisherman knot I always tie on braid or mono onto some fluoro and launched a huge rapala into the current without my line attached to it....$10 later I am here for this knot.
I’ve been using this knot since early winter and my break offs are very rare. I use 15# fluorocarbon and break offs as you said are from nicks or frayed from stumps or rocks. One thing I check frequently is the knot tension if it starts feeling loose on the hook I retie. Also I use five to seven wraps depending on line size.
Thanks for the video! Camera angles allowed for easy visual while you talked through it Question for you: how often do you replace your line. When you do, do you just cut off a few feet at the bottom or do you empty the spool and start clean? Feel like I've had the line snap too many times due to damaged line. But unsure the appropriate frewequency
I always tie the Palomar knot. Not once has my knot failed me. Huge hook sets and all. Sorry, but this is an opinion not a fact. Good on ya for voicing your opinion.
Tried Gerald Swindles knot and kept breaking off cause its a bit harder to tie, started doing this knot because its easier and haven't had an issue since.
Seriously. I set my hook gently, just like I do when fly fishing, unless I am fishing pike. Pike have more bony structure and teeth in their mouths, but bass have pretty soft mouths and if you have sharp hooks, you don't need to be ripping their faces off.
@@S2pidMedia yeah thats why i am wondering why all these people say they break off with the hook set. Also i have watched some videos of americans bass fishing and they set the hook so hard it is not normal when it is a little fish it just goes flying... and then reel as fast as possible to minimalize any sort of fight and then boat flip the fish.. That is so pathetic to me
@@Joost721 I reel my fish in really fast, too. In the summer, the water gets really warm, and sometimes they die from being fought too long. So I pull them in fast, and release them as quickly as possible to minimize the chances of a dead fish. Also, warmer water has less oxygen in it. But if the water is cold, I let them fight because they're not likely to overheat and die.
@@christianbell4413 i understand but what i've seen is that the hook sets are ridiculously hard so hard that fish fly out of the water from the hookset...
Everybody and his brothers sisters brother has a "best knot" video or story. I use four knots that can be used going after any fish on the north American continent. They can be used with fluro, mono, braid, whatever. Only one time in almost fifty years of "bass fishin'" along with other fish, only once have I pulled a knot through. It was on 17lb mono. A bass hit literally at the tip of a 6ft heavy action rod. Bent rod double under boat, broke rod in half, pulled uni knot through. The bass, a huge one, got into cypress tree roots and tore topwater crazy shad loose. I paddled over and got it. Still have it, and haven't fished with it even once since that morning. A good knot is a good knot. Except a clinch. Worthless.
I experienced a polymer on 40lb braid break last night on a 27in walleye when I was jigging at a local dock... how do I know it was 27in.... my buddy caught him on a 10lb flurocarbon with this knot 2 min after me and gave me back my jig.... fng ridiculous... then he caught a 24in right after... but gave it to me since we can only have 1 over 20in.... not an expensive lesson.. but a Heartbreaking one at best. .
@@bobbyspang i’m a saltwater fishing mainly and I’ve tested both on all kinds of things. If tied properly neither of those two break but double is bulky and not needed as the main line still breaks the same. I use the San Diego jam for all lone up to 150lb test on cow tuna
Ok so I have tested the uni and double uni. I've tested the clinch and double clinch. And so far none of them broke above the knot. The uni breaks at the top of the knot the double uni breaks at the first pass through the eye of the hook. And same results with the clinch and double clinch. All were tested with 10lb mono and floro. All had the same results. In the end I have yet to find a knot stronger than the line. And heavy hook sets with floro are just break offs as it's stretch is minimal. Prove me wrong and I will post the results.
So test after test mono 10 and floro 10 I broke off at the eye of the hook. So I tried something fold your line over go through the eye of the hook and tie a 3 twist clinch knot. Once lightly snugged down pull the loop at the bottom first then snug both tag and main then separately first main then tag. Cut off the loop at the bottom and tag from the top. In testing this with 2' of fresh line 3 for 3 broke above the knot under stretch test for both mono and floro 10
LOL i just listened to this with no video......if this was akin to someone like a bomb diffuser or pilot was givomg you instructions on how to fly a plane or take apart a bomb before it a nuckear war is averted, wed all be dead. haha
do your own testing at home people. tested palomar and double pitzen knot against each other, tied to 2 jig heads pulled and palomar won 80% of the time.
😂you tied it wrong. This knot is the strongest knot I’ve ever used caught 40 inch plus pike on it and 5lb plus bass. You need to to give yourself enough tag end and pull the mainline and tag end to synch down the knot before pulling the mainline to bring the knot to the eye of the lure
I'm sure this is a good knot. HOWEVER I AGREE with another guy who said it was too hard to see with the clear line, camera too close and your going too damn fast. Palomar for braid all day. Floro…. You are correct

Bad ass knot. Got a PB striper with this knot. Thank you
100 percent agree, this knot has never failed me, Palomar cost me with flora so many times. No more!
I Love this knot and it’s what I “go to” with fluorocarbon
I agree with you 100%. Great job.
Double uni knot is unique👍👍👍
San Diego Jam knot is very similar. Also very strong. I will give this double uni a try.

Great video!!!!!
It would be nice if we could actually see wtf is actually going on
I agree. The line was either out of focus or else it was fading into the background. Brent's explanation, however, was the best I've heard.
💀
How can you not see that?
its really eady actually search for a double line uni OR just make a uni but with the only thing that you double the line like in the palomar knot
Open your fn eyes ! Clearly see what he's doing!
I have never had a Palomar knot fail me yet but always willing to learn something different.
Same for me. Been using flouro for years with a Palomar and never had an issue
Big swimbait knot right there! 👍👍
Great tip thanks great video. It’s tough line to tie compared to ole mono
Awesome Brent. I love the palomar but breakoffs will sour me on fluoro in a hurry. Thanks for showing this knot 👍
Looks like you waste a lot of that expensive line with that knot.
@@bobunderwood4786 or lose an
expensive fish. I will take the extra use a 2 feet of line.
I have been using a uniknot for long time and not had break off s but I will try the double uni .
the double san diego jam works good too
I brake off all the time with the hook set on jigs. I will try this knot. Thanks
I tie a palomar knot for my drop shots and have that same problem

just tied this vs the trilene knot 5 times... give that one a try 😉
I like that knot. Thanks
Thanks!
Theres a video of Arron Martens R.I.P. showing this synch a few years ago.
I can tell you hands down that a polamer will cut itself if not exactly right, especially with fluorocarbon. Double uni all the way for me!
These hooks are always the best if you are serious about fishing

Good on ya for voicing your opinion.
awesome ending.. horseshoe bend
I got a spool of cheap mono to practice with, " it's hard to teach a old Doug a new trick "
A decent low friction jam knot.
Exact same reasoning as tying a double San Diego jam knot.
That is the knot I tie on all Floro, and I have eliminated knot breakoff. On light line I rap it 4 or 5 times.
Can do this same knot with only 1 tag end. Just loop around the eye instead of going back through, and then wrap it 6 times instead of 3
Tried Gerald Swindles knot and kept breaking off cause its a bit harder to tie, started doing this knot because its easier and haven't had an issue since.
also a good option: dont try to break the fish's mouth off with the hook set
Seriously. I set my hook gently, just like I do when fly fishing, unless I am fishing pike. Pike have more bony structure and teeth in their mouths, but bass have pretty soft mouths and if you have sharp hooks, you don't need to be ripping their faces off.

For a big jig, there is normally a very thick weed guard. A hook set is necessary for getting the hook through that weed guard.

Does this know work for light line as well like 8 pound test
Kinda hard to see but gonna go for it
How many wraps for 8-10-12lb line?
Badass
I wish that you could have used a Dark Gray or Black background to make it easier to see the lines
I’m not trying to cut off 2 feet of my flouro every knot I tie lol

try the P knot let me know what you think
I kept breaking off with the palomar knot, but ever since switching to this I’m yet to have a break off.
The palomar knot has to have to loop right on top of the knot our it will snap double uni is strong to
Not able to see the critical bit at the begining
