The thin slice of cake you like to eat is called pancake (Chinese pronunciation: JIANG-XIANG-BING). Sauce-flavored pancake originated from a unique snack in Hubei, China, and is also known as "Chinese pizza". It is now sold at street stalls everywhere in China.

The oil you put too much in is Peppercorn oil(花椒油). Peppercorn oil is typically extracted from the dried berries of the pepper plant, specifically from black peppercorns (Piper nigrum). The oil is obtained through steam distillation or solvent extraction of these dried berries. It's valued for its aromatic and culinary properties, often used in cooking, aromatherapy, and sometimes in traditional medicine due to its potential health benefits.

Hi Steve. I am Chinese and I subscribed after seeing your video today. The bottle contains Sichuan peppercorn oil. You only need 2 to 3 drops. And in China, generally only people in Sichuan Province eat Sichuan peppercorns. China This is a non-English-speaking country, but now Chinese families attach great importance to children's education and send their children to learn English from an early age, so there should be many Chinese people who can speak fluent English in the future. Finally, I wish you a happy time in China!

The whole deal with Sichuan peppercorns is the flavour confusion it creates in your mouth. It numbs your taste buds and gives different layers to other flavours. You gotta mix it up soy sauce and vinegar and other flavours.

Poor Steve😄 that is from Sichuan Pepper! It makes your mouth numb, it’s bad when you put too much! I have that in my kitchen and one time I accidentally pour too much in my soup and it’s ruined!😅

That's Sichuan peppercorn Oil! It's one of my favorite sauces to put in noodles haha, love the numbing sensation. But you can't put too much indeed 😂

Yep! On our first day in Shanghai, we tasted this flavor. But, in this video, we added the flavor ourselves...! Meaning, we added to too much. It was a mistake, lol

The dumplings you had are xiao long bao, it's a famous chinese dumpling that some dim sum places have. It's like a pork meat paste that is cooked by steaming the dumpling, and there's like a broth inside the dumpling, so be careful when you bite into it, cos the hot broth inside can scald your tongue. It's actually pretty funny seeing you try to make your way around chinese food and seeing the chinese people try to talk to your friend in chinese, then they're probably wondering why she looks like them, but can't speak the language. It must seem so strange to them to meet chinese people who can't speak chinese.

i've only been to shenzhen, many many m~a~n~y~ years ago. and i really miss the cool weather.
btw, 15:48 the signboard says :
    13yuan/600g for your better-than-roti-canai pancake 😁
9yuan for 1 basket of juicy meat dumpling or XiaoLongBao
2.50 yuan for 1 pc of pork with veggie (shepherd's purse) steam bun
so, i assume she always gives you 600g of pancake everytime.
