What was that? JM said the plaintiff owed 7 days of rent? What happened to "if you are there even one day in a new month, you owe for that entire month?"
Not when there's a move out & try put appropriate notice that they're leaving. Sometimes it takes a couple extra days to get everything out of to clean after a walk through. Then, the landlord can only charge those couple of days. They weren't 'living' there, they'd moved. It's different, if a tenant stays a week, doesn't like it, & leaves. Then, the entire month can be charged.
As someone who has dealt with bedbugs. I can tell you that once you get them it takes YEARS to actually get rid of them. This is because by the time you notice them. They are already in the THOUSANDS! So, yeah. They could have already have been in the apartment by the time she rented it. However. If you get furniture from thrift shops or for free there is and EXTREMELY HIGH risk of getting them (that is how I got them!). They are not the kind of bug that you get from being dirty, contrary to what people believe. They are more like tics. You can be the cleanest person, yet still get them! Regardless, the landlord SHOULD be doing regular treatments of their properties for ANY PEST. However, there is no real way to say where they came from. Some species of bedbugs can actually lay dormant for 2 years and the eggs can go for 4 or more years before hatching!!!
I absolutely detest landlords which is why I was fortunate enough to buy my own house many years ago. In my experience, most landlords are sleezy, greedy snakes. And yes, I had (and have) excellent credit, good income, don't participate in drama, keep a clean, well-kept home, never late with the rent, and have never been evicted. The final straw for me was coming home from work in the middle of the day and finding the landlord in my bedroom playing with my underwear. (He had his favorites displayed all over my bed).

Different states have different laws
I believe the defendant is lying about what he said to her. Unfortunately she can't prove where they came.
Good case!
She wasn’t just a participant on the People’s Court, but Caitlin is also a well known speaker, along with being the founder & President of Dream Catchers Foundation. She is also an author. The things you learn…..
So glad to see the visual of this one! :D I listened to the podcast as well but seeing Doug's return wasn't the same in sound form. xD
She should've waited just one more day to file🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
That’s cool mom didn’t interfere! Kudos to mom!
The truth will out. Exit interview the owner admitted he knew about the AC deal, he just hoped the tenant would forget ..sneaky creepy.
A very subtle "Perry Mason Moment" that was really cool to watch. She tried to move 3 of her friends in. Who would do that if the place had bed bugs? Then she says, "Because I had them exterminated twice." AHA! So then you think the place is livable...yet you are suing because you say its unlivable!
How come in one case she says if you stay 1 day into a month you owe but other cases she just prorates it?
each state has different rules and she has to rule by the states laws where case was filed
