Ah yes, opening the old toy-box my parents made me pack away years ago. I have four of the six-inch Raimi Spider-Man in various degrees of degradation, as well as various figures from Batman Begins, Fantastic Four etc.
I couldn't appreciate this video enough. That nostalgia is making me feel butterflies haha. I was only 3 when the first movie came out but man i had it all haha
I had a few of these, when I was a kid I really appreciated that first spider man toy you showed, it was my favorite action figure, brought it everywhere, I also had the green goblin with the glider and then one day I left it out in the backyard and my dads friend mowed over it, my mom got me a new green goblin but it was the one with the battery powered bump glider, it just wasn’t the same, always missed the old one I had
Man and then I remember one of my dads friends, his kid had the beat up battle action figure and I asked where he got it and he told me he cut it up his self so I always contemplated doing that to mine when I was a child 😂 glad I never did
While I wouldn’t say that Tom Holland’s movies are the closest in characterization (especially compared to Lee/Ditko Peter who’s a cutthroat INTx), damn the tone is what’s nailed in his movies. Despite Peter having a completely different personality from his comic self, the general vibe of the films have a nice Lee/Ditko tone that I adore. Anyway, awesome collection!

Honestly, I hate the fact that toy companies sell online and not in stores… I wish I could just go to a toy shop and see great action figures and buy them for solid prices lol

I don't agree with the "Tom feels most true to the character" stuff. Peter hasn't been a Teen in marvel mainline comics in over 40 years. He was Tony's friend in Civil War, and even then, it was colleague-like, not sugar-daddy-like. Any other time, he's indifferent to Tony or hates his guts. He's not just street-level, he's a street-LEVELER. He's lifted skyscrapers, underwater bases, staggered Hulk and Thanos before, and when Thor and Hulk was held him, they said they felt him moved. He's an adult, and the only time in the movies we saw Peter as an adult is in the Raimi Movies. I can appreciate the take, the costumes (especially the Civil War concept suit, that one was TIGHT), and the connective tissue to the wider MCU, but this one is the FURTHEST from the Comics.
I don't think our opinions are as far off as you think. I don't remember if I said it in this video, but I agree that MCU Spidey is the furthest from the comics, but I stand by that Tom Holland is closest to how I view the "personality" of Peter Parker. Just my 2 cents. I have loved (at least parts of) every version of Spidey. Thanks for watching and taking the time to provide feedback!
