Also this scene has been edited to avoid some spoilers! If you haven’t seen Five Deadly Venoms yet, go watch it now!
#5 Tha' Toad
The Toad!!!!!! Respect to Lo Mang!!!
lizard
Bruce Lee
I like centipede style the best
I was 8 when I watched this. I rushed to the playground afterward to try my new skills. The other kids had no idea how close they came to death that day.
Haha
🤳🏽🤓🤣😂🤭
LMAO FACTS!
In junior high we had to write a poem in English class and I wrote mine about the Five Venoms.
How'd that climbing up the wall, work out for you,??? Lmao
If you were watching this as a kid in the '80s then you are probably one of the few that can appreciate these old school kung fu venom mob movies the shaw brothers were cranking out by the boat load.
Homeric.
Yeees, old school kickass karate fliks like this blazed the trail for badass movies, like IP Man, Chocolate etc.
It's fun watching that yellow rug at 5:20 get filthier and filthier as it gets re-used in later Shaw Bros movies. In Shaolin Intruders and 8 Diagram Pole Fighter it's almost light brown, it's so dirty.
@@MRBJT51 all of them was off the hook, especially the lizzard
My childhood memories are filled with Saturday afternoon martial arts movies that still say with me until this day. I will always love Shaw brothers for that❤.
Kung Fu Theater?
@@rpscorp9457 absolutely 🙌🏽
The way the Toad die was heartbreaking
I hated how they did my boy
It was a honour to die in a Chang chi movie.
They knew that Toad Was the strongest and most incredibly powerful one of the five. And they knew that Toad was invincible compared to all of them. That's why their punk asses did that to him because they knew they couldn't handle him alone. those cowardly bastards
Wish lizard was their to help toad he found out 2 late.. lizard, and toad were my faves the good guys
@@jamesroberts1810 same, I was hoping the police chief/scorpion was good guy too but nope
One of the ALL TIME BEST! After we saw this movie every kid in my neighborhood was doing the 'snake technique'.
I love it 💕😍❤️❤️
Snake was my favorite too, he was smooth maybe because he was rich,...
@@kennethcanady8826 LOL 😂👍🏽
This Is in the Top 5 of the old school kung fu movies
Avenging Eagle" is another "Kid with the Golden arm
That list goes on and on
So many great kung fu movies from the genre
Word! Me and my friends too!
I love how the Scorpian is just chilling on the side line waving his fan and calculating his next move.
1. 5 deadly venoms
2. 5 elements ninja
3. Crippled avengers
4. Kid with the golden arms
I went through a huge binge on this genre and all these films are so worth a watch if you’re into it.
Yes yes my favs
5 element ninjas also titled Super Ninjas or Chinese Super Ninjas. The 5 deadly venoms are my top favorite kung fu movies
Great list. Grew up on all of them. Especially the 5 element ninjas or (super ninjas) as it was sometimes labeled
@@Locuttis Yeah it was shown as Super Ninjas when I was young.
Love the over-the-top sounds in these older flicks. The Shaw Brothers knew how to make it dramatic beyond just the visuals. The sounds in these scenes really complement the martial arts.
It really does.
Wit' Dat'.......(wommph, wommph...........tssh-tssh-tssh, wommph, wommph,...tssh-wommph........tssh.........Wa'Poow)
Just stunning for a film that was made in 1978. Too good!
The Kid with the Golden Arm is another great one from the Shaw Brothers.
Was mad wen they killed my boy toad 🐸 smh 🤦🏾♂️ till this day !!!!
He was too strong they had to get rid of him
🦂
I will always have love for these old skool flicks! ✊🏾
The Five Deadly Venoms will always remain a classic like Enter the Dragon and The Street Fighter with Sonny Chiba.
Grew up with my dad telling this movie as a bed time story. Didn't see it until I was an adult. Now it's one of my favorite kungfu classics.
Your Dad told the best bed time stories!
lmao was your father an aging kung fu teacher
"Once upon a time, I had five pupils..." :)

WOW
One of the most awesome fight scenes ever! I still do every venom style I saw in this great movie clip!
Don't let the world fool you. This is what fighting to the death looks like.
This is why it sucks to be a villain in real life... because you’ll turn on each other.
Stay on the right team. Even gang members turn on each other after doing dirt 😁
The scene where Snake is talking to Scorpion, and regretting the murders, and asking "When will it end?", And Scorpion response is "It WILL NEVER END!" "ONCE AN EVIL DEED IS DONE, IT GOES ON FOREVER!" That saying always plays in my mind- how TRUE even from the worst evil enemy, truth comes out of him! And you KNEW that Scorpion WAS EVIL, AND HAD NO SOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you live by the sword, you die by the sword!
@@susanma4899 So very, very true!!!!!!!!!! LOL Also the other old saying, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Bad guys bring great character plus we can just beat-up on guys like you. Lol
This was a genuine pleasure to watch again after all these years
5 Deadly Venoms hold up so well! The choreography and story is amazing. When people ask me which kung fu movie they should watch first, I always recommend this one and Five Elements Ninjas.
m.ua-cam.com/video/Ke443IEvnpQ/v-deo.html
I like this movie so much 😮that I bought it so I can watch whenever I want 😮
coreography so good, Shaw bros is not a b-movies studio, is pure art
I always felt like they should remake this movie. But I always felt like they would find a way to screw it up too.
And they would
they must remake this movie... and put it into a modern setting... instead of use the same setting from ancient china...
Please do not remake this movie; they will screw it up!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d rather they leave it alone
@@dumisatonyjohnson8145 fuck man, you guys are a bunch of fucking pussies... let a real fucking moving company from China film the remake instead of some bullshit Hollywood movie company, like the one that made Catwoman, or the bullshit Stars Wars 1-3 and 7-9. Talk about royal fuckups...
The memories of Brooklyn, New Your. Every Saturday morning the Shaw Brother's Kung Fu Classic... "The Five Deadly Venoms" and so much more... One of my all time best classic's!

Drive In Movie Channel 5 I wish I could remember the names of all the movies scenes I remember. Great memories!
I stand close to walls like number four the lizard!- The RZA
I just feel this scene is complete without Toad. He would have had them all down within moments but that's just my opinion. I like how crafty the Scorpion turned out to be, and what a simpleton Centipede really is. Snake redeemed himself by delivering the fatal blow. Style-wise, I prefer the Scorpion's attacks because one of his kicks is enough to paralyze and even kill. Reminds me of Bruce Lee's philosophy about fearing the man who practices a thousand kicks. Overall, this film is a masterpiece, and ahead of its time.
Toad was a beast, they had to kill him off early. Would've still liked to see more of him
@Avery Marc ...came here to say the same thing.
🤦🏻♂️
wow, you really read into this movie. When i watched it i was prob only 7 so i was just in awe by the fighting, the sounds and outfits. Think i need to re watch it now that its 40 years later
Don't forget....Because of Lizard's ability to climb and stick to walls, his leg strength was no joke, which I think was overlooked...but Centipede found out the hard way.
I'd love it if Toad would have been in this fight, but I understand they had to kill him of, because he was way too powerful. My favourite fighter was number 2 the snake. Because he felt a sense of regret for his action, and I liked his style more.
100% I wish Toad was here too. Lo Mang was the best.
I said the same thing....he turned good at the last moment, but still had to die for his evil. Scorpion & Snake was my favorite followed by Lizard
I have to agree the snake's flexibility is the best besides the toad The Lizard is my top favorite.
Lo Meng is strongest and the most powerful member in venom mob.
I like the Scorpion most because he's the last one to reveal himself. And chiefly responsible for toads death.
The centipede is the least smartest one, gives himself away too easily.
True kung fu masters showing off their skills and talent. Something we won't see a lot today anymore. Shaw brothers doing a damn good job directing the film and thr stunt people doing at damn good job making them actors look superb!!!
Well...we DO see it today...as far as Jet LI. I know...he MAY be the exception. Of course... Jackie Chan...he is DEFINITELY a master. Jet LI is a master...of course. He was Wushu champion in Beijing for five years IN A ROW. But... you probably already knew that. He was young, by the way... when he won the Wushu championships. But... generally speaking......we don't see so much of today... like you said. Thank you for your comment
To this day, every time I see a single lizard crawl by, I yell out “Number 4 Lizard!” Lol
Me and my father love that part😂
Yes ..... indeed a masterpiece.... the Shaw brothers were beyond their time In presenting such an amazing attraction in skills, choreography, talent and a well acrobatic production...Sunday afternoons in 1980 were thrilling moments
They are the best when it comes to Kung Fu movies
İslam Moe 🤚🏼
CO-SIGN...💯!!!
Saturday afternoons for in NJ/NYC area
I love "8 Diagram Pole Fighter" especially when he becomes a dentist at the end.
I have that movie on DVD and the staff fighting choreography is pure amazement.
36 Chambers
That was brutal! He "defanged the wolves", LOL!
I just saw the bamboo scene it was insane. This is borrowing in comparisons so predicable motion.
Yes, rendered the wolves harmless by removing their teeth.🤣🤣
I remember watching the movies when I was in elementary school with my bros and dad at local theatres. There were nostalgic.
Same here
I like how none of them (except Snake) thought it was weird that while the 4 of them are fighting, Scorpion is just standing there watching. Snake should've called out Scorpion at the very beginning.
NUMBER 4... LIZARRDDDDDDD!!!!!!
Great fight! Shaw brothers still stands the test of time
Lizard was the truth
This film was beautifully choregraphed by Opera member Robert Tai Chi Hsien RIP. And GM Leung Ting disciple of Yip Man.
This movie is so great due largely to the plot. This final battle was one of only three real fight scenes in the entire movie. Can you name another Shaw Brother's movie with only three fight scenes? Just shows that greatness of the plot and character development in this movie.
This movies plot is unlike any in Martial arts cinema history. One of a kind movie!
But they edited out one very key point in this last scene. Once the Scorpion in exposed, he uses DARTS to incapacitate the Snake.
Exactly! This is what I tell everyone when the topic of martial Arts movies comes up. Rather than a generic martial Arts movie centered around a good story idea this movie is more of a straight up crime drama with martial Arts fight scenes added in. One of the Shaw brothers best productions!
Maybe invincible Shaolin
Also five element ninjas
This needs to be REMADE in a homage to the original!!
I'm surprised it hasn't been remade. It seems like everything is or modified with American actors. Like Bangkok Dangerous or Man from no where.
All of the shawbrothers movies are my favorites.
My favorite was always Chiang Sheng followed closely by Kuo Chu. My sister's favorite was always Lo Mang. We have seen all the Shaw movies with the Venom Bros. Too many times to count!
This movie really was a cut above the rest
Five Deadly Venoms, The Flying Guillotine, Fearless Fighters, Kid With The Golden Arm, all Classics I used to watch every Saturday afternoon on Kung-fu Theater!
Facts but you left out Master Killer 36 Chambers of Shaolin.
Lo Mang, who played “The Toad” in Five Deadly Venoms, was nicknamed “The Shaolin Hercules” because of his muscular physique. Because of his build, Lo was usually cast as incredibly strong characters who used their fists more than they did swords or spears. Lo also had a tendency to play hotheaded and arrogant martial artists. Similar to Sun Chien, Lo played a combination of heroes and villains, but was a protagonist in most of his appearances. Both he and Chien weren’t in as many Venom movies as the other three actors, but did have starring roles in more than ten Venom Mob films. Out of all the Venom Mob members, Lo had the longest and most prolific career after the group’s disbandment. Since leaving Shaw Brothers, Lo has done a great deal of work in both movies and TV in Hong Kong. In what his perhaps his biggest role is recent years is that of monkey style expert Master Law in the last three Ip Man movies with Donnie Yen.
Wow I didn’t know this - I loved him in Crippled Avengers - so gorgeous ❤
I almost cried when the toad was killed, he was my hero❤.
My Number #1 Top Rated Kung Fu Favorite Of All Time Is Masked Avengers.
It’s the Rza, I stand close to walls like number four the lizard
Man, this brings back memories xD VHS days 🙌
VHS days were awesome! Finding these movies in the flea market and not knowing which dub you might get were always fun lol.
@@ScenicFights Aw yeah! subscribed! lol
Yes it does.
This movie was my best favorite kind including my other favorite movie of all 36 Chambers Of Shaolin
It's so amazing how these guys trained relentlessly for hours on end to perfect every single move they made during these fight scenes, and got paid mere pennies for it. I once read that they would rehearse every part of these scenes until there entire bodies were covered black and blue with bruises. Today with CGI, almost any bum off the streets can create a fight scene without even working up a sweat
Not only that, but the "five venoms" went on to distinguished careers with the Shaw Brothers. A real go-to troop.
Wow that's sad though but you know Chinese people they work in sweatshops for pennies so I would think that it would have been different in the movies how much pennies are we talking about they were paid for this INCLUDING MY BOY Kuo Chui? How many pennies we talking they were paid for this best kung fu movie ever
Pretty sure fight scenes in live action movies aren't done with CGI, unless you're talking about superhero movies then I can agree, but regular action flicks... They do choreography just like how they did back in the day, and with the John Wick films it seems like there's a desire to go back to the wide screen long shot style of filming with as little cuts and shaky cam as possible just like how they did in these kung fu films back in the day
WHAT??? They weren't paid very much? Really? Shaw Brothers should have known that they had really really skilled individuals to make their film. And... the mere PRACTICING they had to go through! As you said. I am not familiar with the Shaw Brothers film studios... but... certainly DO know that they were a MAJOR STUDIO. How...in this world could they get away with NOT paying these martial artists what they certainly deserved??? Maybe you could tell me. Thank you for your comment
@@debraweaver6308 Its the Hong Kong ethic.
Senior year of highschool ....my best friends basement... many late friday nights with the "venom gang"...
Out of all of the venom mob,Kuo Chui aka Philip Kwok Chow Fung had the most successful career after the Shaw Bros. As a fight choreographer and sometimes actor. He even had a cameo scene in the James Bond movie Tomorrow never Dies. Blink and you'll miss him. He was also the action director.
He was also a bad guy in Hard Boiled.
Lu Feng (Centipede) became a director didn't he?
You know, Chiang Sheng, (Teacher's Last Pupil)is no longer with us. What shame he could have made it too I think.
@@darrylguerrant5101 Yeah he died young also. Apparently he drank a lot and fell into depression. Died from a heart attack.
@@pabzta Yeah it was even tougher getting roles in movies so he ended up in a Korean TV series. He died alone, his wife had already divorced him. I checked out the biography of the venoms last night.
Nobody does it like Shaw Brothers.
Crippled Avengers is my #1 Shaw film my #2 is Five Element Ninjas
Five Element Ninja is amazing. We might put that over Crippled Avengers but both are good.
Phillip Kwok (known as Kuo Chui to audiences in the East) was “The Lizard” in the Five Deadly Venoms. The Taiwanese actor was a well-trained martial artist and acrobat with a wide range of skills. In his movies, he was shown to be adept at hand-to-hand combat and acrobatic stunts like back and front flips. He fought with a variety of weapons, but used a staff more than most. Its worth noting that Kwok took center stage in most of the Venom movies. Many of the Venom actors would alternate between hero and villain roles, but Kwok would always play one of the good guys. While some of the Venoms wouldn’t make it to the end of the movie, Kwok’s character would generally be one of the last heroes standing. After the Hong Kong industry shifted away from kung fu movies, Kwok continued acting for quite some time and played Mad Dog in John Woo’s Hard Boiled, a movie where Kwok handled the martial arts choreography.
Seems like a you’re Phillip Kwok fan, Kuo Chui has played a villian he’s the main villian in the Chinatown kid and though he is mostly last sole survivor he has died few times for example his death scene in invincible Shaolin is quite heroic and in life gamble he was outmatched and killed by Lee yi min another sb veteran and a legend of kung fu movies
The Shaw Brothers are a juggernaut in the martial arts movie genre!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🫵🙌🙌
Even to this day me and my homie still look at eachother and yell....NUMBER 4 LIZARD !!!! 😂🤣🤣
Channel 5 in NYC (80’s). Such wonderful memories.
One of the best. I wish someone would re-release this on Blu Ray in the UK. It's very hard to track down.
Early 1980's every Saturday@3 p.m. in NYC...we all was in front of the T.V.
The Snakes finger sequence with number 5 is a cinematic classic!!
I watched this and other shaw brothers movies on wnew channel 5’s drive in theater on Sunday afternoon in the mid 1970’s to the late 1990’s here in New York City.
I always thought that this would make an interesting remake. Just take the basic plot, young final student sent on a mission by his dying Master to see what his previous five students are doing and make sure they're not abusing their teachings, and redo and update the rest
Kung fu theatre was the best on Saturdays 😊. Great time to be a kid in the late 70s early 80s.
Seeing this as a kid got me into studying martial arts but never forgot how awesome this movie was!😉🤗👍
To this day when I watch this I still get mad at how dirty they did toad….so foul.
“The Scorpion” in the Five Deadly Venoms was brought to life by Sun Chien, a Taekwondo master. The martial arts star is best known for his signature high kicks, which were a key element in his fighting style. His impressive kicking techniques helped the Venom Mob deliver some of their most exhilarating action sequences. As for how he would factor into the movies’ stories, Sun was a bit of a wild card. More often than not, he played heroes, but he also had his fair share of villainous roles, including his character in Five Deadly Venoms. There were also movies where his supposedly good-natured character would turn out to be a wicked traitor, which was the situation in both The Kid With the Golden Arm and The Rebel Intruders. Unfortunately, Sun’s characters - including the heroic ones - usually met with tragic ends and sometimes didn’t make it to the final fight.
1. Five Elements Ninjas
2. Five Shaolin Masters
3. Five Deadly Venoms

After seeing this movie Saturday night on channel 2's kung fu theater, all the kids were trying to run up the walls at lunch time.lol It's too bad that today's young generation don't have the pleasure of seeing these types of films at the theater, or on television like in the 80's. Wu tang brought me here👐
Back in the days, I grew up watching this stuff... :D
You grew up with the best.
These guys are amazing athletes and the choreography is obviously on point but how much actual martial arts is actually going on here? Not hating, just asking.
@kelly washington absolutely wrong 😂 everything except the wire-fu is all real techniques and can be found on various kung fu styles. If you dont know shit, dont talk about it like you know, like calling it a dance, or to spark a children's imagination. Lmao please💀😂
@kelly washington lmao tf are you on? When did I ever threatened you? Bruh talking bout some monkey noises all I said was dont talk shit about what you dont know😂 the scenes are obviously choreographed but calling it a dance and shit is not it lmao. I mean i guess you're right on about i can disagree but still, it wouldn't be a problem if you did some research instead of calling the entire techniques shown a dance
A bit, it's hard to filter out but very interesting to look into. A lot of actors of this era of action cinema were inducted into Peking Opera schooling as kids, or a similar performative arts school, where they learned martial arts, dance, choreography and similar disciplines. Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao are probably the most famous examples. These guys do know martial arts, and it's smattered throughout the films, but most is what is referred to as a sort of "Chinese opera martial arts", which is mostly choreographed to just look good.
@kelly washington that is an inaccurate statement. Look at the biographies - it will help you see how amazing these dudes really were and will give you a greater appreciation for what it took to make these movies along with their backgrounds.
The Kid with the Golden Arm. All those actors were awesome!
The Toad he was young strong and tuff skin mentally.
LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH.
So absurdly choreographed, but F’in awesome!
I just love this epic fight scene. After I saw it I saw the Lizard style.
Flag of iron, Avenging eagle, Shaolin Mantis, and kid with golden arm, and the shaolin rescuers
You left out Master Killer
When I was allowed to watch the telly, it was usually these kind of films. I loved every single minute of them

If you're an Xbox Series X gamer and a fan of the old Shaw Brother's films, play the game Shaolin -vs- Wu Tang. It is a love letter to these movies and the Wu Tang collection of films. No fatalities, no hadoukens, just Kung Fu. Phenix style, White Eyebrow, Snake, Lotus, and many others are featured.

I never understood why this was never made into Anime. Anime artistry, an epic artist who is excellent in that craft combined with these five venoms and a great storyline would go viral instantly. You can even introduce new venoms to become allies or foes against them such as Killer Bee, Tarantula and Komodo Dragon plus others for the list goes on and on such as a Blue Ringed Octopus. Anime is the direct path towards reintroducing 5 Deadly Venom fans and making new fans with a global art form that will send shockwaves.
The only issue I have is that The Lizard 🦎 flash back wasn't shown when he revealed himself like the others. 😏
My favorite is Disciple of shoalin
