...and I totally agree: Bostaph's drumming on Slayer's Divine Intervention is astonishing! Probably the best ever recorded on any (and not just) metal album... Anytime I listen to this it send shivers down my spine;) A masterpiece!
Masterpiece i think so also! Divine intervention is pure killer album, i like very very very much divine album story, about jeffrey Dahmer 213, killing fields and many other songs, i keep album really sick and morbid and album splatter lyrics.
His drumming on Divine Intervention is nothing short of spectacular. Technical, savage and creative. His flow is different than Lombardo's but he did a great job replacing him without trying to mimic his style.
Hell yeah I love Pauls’ kit for Divine Intervention I modeled my own kit after his set. I wish I could go back and start the ride for 1994 all over again I was just discovering Machine Head, PanterA, Sepultura and Fear Factory. All the bands mentioned pretty much forced me into being a metal drummer
His is the best on divine intervention album, he is the beast, i think, without Paul album would not so damn good. Actually i keep divine intervention Slayer's best album ever!
What Paul does in the intro for Serenity in Murder is the reason I love Slayer to this day. It still knocks me out of my seat and it was the song that got me into them. Always got love for Bostaph... and Chris Kontos is a fucking legendary drummer too. I wIsh he'd stayed with Machine Head.
Paul Bostaph is a better drummer than Dave Lombardo but without Dave Lombardo there wouldn't be Paul Bostaph or any other thrash/death etc. contemporary metal drummer! Dave Lombardo invented the style which was incorporated and then mastered by legions of wannabe metal drummers worldwide since early eighties. Just listen to Hell Awaits or Reign In Blood to realize where such drummers as Igor Cavalera (Sepultura) late Docent (Vader) or Steve Asheim (Deicide, Order Of Eannad) came from. Respect!
I've been playing for 20 years. I study, play to a metronome, work on speed, groove, dynamics, creativity etc. I've seen both Paul and Dave on many occasions live with Slayer and other bands. I'm curious, why do you think Paul is a better drummer than Dave? Cuz I'm telling you as an experienced and versed drummer, Dave bests Paul and it's not even close. If you like Paul's style better, then that is purely subjective. ua-cam.com/video/3ivOfkqFmxg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/ManyDSIC8fQ/v-deo.htmlm31s
Are you in acid? As a drummer of 34 yrs I can tell you without a doubt that Dave is a natural and has better ability than Paul, Paul is great, but he’s no Dave .
Sorry, but ive heard a lot of performance with Lombado who lost a lot of stamina and was not able to keep the tempo. BTW listen carefully when he play live with Slayer (when he came back in the band). He cheat a lot with his fills for keeping his energy for Angel Of Death. I will not even talk when he played Dittohead. Not even close to have the speed, accuracy and able to play 100% the studio version right.
Paul Bostaph's devine intervention chrome Tama kit is by far his best set up and era in my opinion. I wish hed bring that kit back. Love that kit and set up!
@@dcs2690 And dont pratice, doing the same fills over and over, take some breaks during a show as a result to not be able to keep the same intensity during all the entire set. When Angel Of Death is playing he kept all his energy for the famous double bass drums doing hes show off and wanted to proof that he is the best drummer. Lombado was great, but stagnate and overated. Sorry...
actually Dave is an all around drummer since he's a jazz drummer too. Paul is my personal favorite; GHUA& Diabolus in musica are phenomenal albums with phenomenal drums duties, as for Divine intervention? well, i just pwn with it the young metallers who swear by modern tech brutal death metal! Gene Hoglan is an ancient evil all around beast too!
Dave McClain instead of Chris Kontos, great move for MH! Paul Bostaph, although a decent drummer, took the place of Dave Lombardo, talking about a Mission Impossible....... I went to this concert in Rotterdam, very funny that this tv-show is focusing on both drummers and their techniques.
I think Dave is the better drummer, but Paul is a good fit for Slayer. I prefer Dave, but I'll accept Paul. And yes, Divine Intervention is better than most of the metalcore/deathcore stuff these kids listen too.
i could only say one thing. Dave is a very good drummer but he could never play any song that Paul plays!!!!! take as an example Killing Fields!!! just Killing Drumming from Paul!! Paul can play Dave's songs but not vice versa!!!!!!!

Paul was very warm nice and honest with slayer fans also.
for a 35 year old, rotting shithead like me this is the stuff I want to watch. never seen this kind of material back in the day. internet, thank you

I remember watching this on tv 30 years ago. I bought the machine head album immediately 🤘🏻
Happy Birthday Paul Bostaph!
Divine Intervention is the best Slayer album.
Same here

@alak58 not exactly, Paul did excellent job on divine intervention, i think, it's the best Slayer's album ever!
He was back in the 90s last 10 years Paul's past his prime.
GOOD STUFF THANKS.
also does anyone know what aluminum drum stix he uses to warm up?
I use those same warm ups for playing the guitar
@simaodocaminhao excellent point
i wanna job like this!
Damn Rob Flynn used to look like a James Hetfield wannabe lol :P
he is insane drummer, i dont know, but i like also dave lombardo, hard To say who is better, or faster?
James hetfield compare his best performance to daves ritz ny 1986. Should be obvious.
@@Leo-yn5fx link?
If only Paul had better double bass, then people would not reject him as much.
Paul is more technical player than Lombardo, so not sure what double bass you're on about

is not german ,fffffffffff
30 years later, he kinda sucks
Dave is better..
Paul Bostaph's devine intervention chrome Tama kit is by far his best set up and era in my opinion. I wish hed bring that kit back. Love that kit and set up!
Logan Wilder
his drums sounded disgustingly good on divine...
Chris Kontos is better than Dave McClain
he's fucken heaps better hey
Good that he played with MH again recently
Dave Lombardo:" I have never warmed up before going on stage in my whole life. Also I never practise. I just play my stuff"
Good for him!

Having an Asian tech. Knows what he's doing!

great footage ! they both rule !
Is that machine head
@simaodocaminhao Yeah i agree. Pauls beats and fills are amazing but dave has better and tigher footwork.
Dave McClain instead of Chris Kontos, great move for MH!

So weak this tour skipped Pittsburgh! I was pissed!
where can i get a thigh drum pad like the 1 paul has?
I think Dave is the better drummer, but Paul is a good fit for Slayer. I prefer Dave, but I'll accept Paul. And yes, Divine Intervention is better than most of the metalcore/deathcore stuff these kids listen too.
Best drummer Slayer ever had
I think so also.
punkagnaldo hc Agreed!!!!
@XDrUmErBoY512X Diabolus or Seasons in the Abyss. Reign in Blood though is the greatest thrash album of all time though
It's quite overrated. 😁
agreed!!!
Paul is insane in divine intervention, i like very much also seasons in the abyss..
*facepalm*
+Leo Melnikov he probably really likes Paul on reign in blood too lol
i could only say one thing. Dave is a very good drummer but he could never play any song that Paul plays!!!!! take as an example Killing Fields!!! just Killing Drumming from Paul!! Paul can play Dave's songs but not vice versa!!!!!!!
Chris Kontos is leagues better than Dave
