Suzette sent me some cuttings some well rooted. The Mexicanum had a nice root ball on it. When I went to pot it up the whole root ball fell off. Back to bare stem. I was able to reroot it. All is good now. In this case I think the shipping was pretty ruff on several plants in the box as the box arrived like it had been kicked all the way across the country to me. Smashed to smithereens. I only have a couple scindaptus. Loce them but did fine the Silver Satin was a real bogar to repot. I had to totally start over. It survived but now I am terrified to repot it. I did put it into a larger pot it can live in for a very long time. Not usually the best way. So far so good.
@@EverythingPlants A friend gave me cuttings from her scindaptus Silver Ann.The leves wereabout the size of my thumbnail. Took me months to root them. All seemed to be going well and I wanted to trellis but putting a trellis on a 4 inch pot was about impossible. I up potted my cuttings. I think there were 4. and for months they stuggled. Finally I saw roots coming out the bottom of the 5 inch pot I had put it in. Upped it all in one lump like you did and within days I had curled up leaves. I new if I did not take action right away I was going to lose everything. By then I had 6 vines and the leaves were getting larger. I had lots of bare stems where leaves fell off. I ended up chopping all the bare stems and I think I did put them in perlite to roo.t On a heat mat. I let the roots get really long then potted and this time I put all in a half to 3/4 size gallon jug. It has been like this now for a few months so I am hoping I revived the whole thing. I would think it can live in this jug pot for several years and when it does come time for a repot I might just slit down the sides. Especially after seeing what happened to you and also what happened to my Mexicanum.
This is probably one of my favorite clips from you! Thank you for being authentic and thank you for the big laugh I had watching your face! It’s priceless! I have a large collection of a variety of these plants and just recently purchased my first jade. I’ll definitely be careful when it’s time to repot it. I have a question: Were the leaves of your jade wet in this clip? I’m under the impression the leaves do not like to get wet. Thanks again for this great video clip!
Thanks ildiko Jones. I am happy to say the plant and cuttings are doing just fine. Now for your question....I spray down my plant leaves all the time and I've never had an issue. Is that what you mean?
@@EverythingPlants Yes, that was my question. I’ve read and heard many say that scindapsus plants don’t like water to touch their leaves (which made no sense to me because in nature I’m sure they do, but what do I know? 😆) and some even recommend to bottom water them. Anyway, thank you for your response. I’ll be less worried now about getting them wet. PS I heard myself when you said: “I can’t believe I did that.” I’m still laughing about it.
@@ildikojones7073 thanks for responding!!! I know in a plants natural setting it usually has better air flow then in our homes. People always say we'll they get wet outside, but that is the difference between the two environments. Good airflow is key!
I love your videos, so real, the same things happen to me! You are definitely one of my favorite plant UA-camrs, and I watch a lot of them. I think I remember that, in one of your past videos, you water rooted one of your scindapsus with a golden pothos, and it rooted quicker. You had a control group without, as well. I have done the same, with my scindapsus argyraeus, (which is notoriously slow to soil root, in my experience) and I found that to be true. Have you given up on that technique?
Hey Tina! No, I still add pothos into my water props for sure. I am so glad it has worked for you. I am actually sitting here trying to come up with some ideas for more pothos experiments.
@@EverythingPlants, I read about the invasive nature of golden pothos in Florida, and how they grow huge, fenestrated leaves as they climb up trees and choke the life out of them. I considered growing some cuttings up a moss pole to see how big the leaves would grow as a houseplant. I have seen it done with other varieties, like Cebu Blue, but never with the golden. I don't know if I have the patience or if I would even be successful; I am not the Sydney Plant Guy!
@@EverythingPlants I had to root a few random broken pieces. The main part of the plant is recovering nicely, but I'm pretty sure I will not be trying to repot this plant for at least another 2 years. It seems to take them a lot longer to get root bound then say a pothos even though it looks like they have put off tremendous growth up top.
Lucky you…I’ve been looking and the plants are priced too high and I don’t even like the choice of pot and hanger I’d rather just buy the plant in a nursery pot
I just pruned my exotica a week ago for the same reason-long runners without leaves. Think I will change it from water to perlite. I have never done perlite propagating so I guess it's about time.
Nancy, I was just telling Jeff that I take those long runners and put them in a TALL Wendy's cup and filled with perlite. Water well and mist them. I have also put them in a soil mixture with alot of perlite and put them under a dome. I think that I'm up to 6 props this year. They make beautiful baskets 🪴♥️🪴
Hi there! I’m hoping you could help me, I’m considering repotting my scindapsus exotica. I noticed some roots popping out of the top of the plant and wanted your help when I do this. What kind of soil should I use? Will tropical soil work or should I make my own? Please help lol. I really don’t want to kill my plant. I also saw that you’re supposed to keep the plant in its original soil along with the new soil when you plant it but I am a beginner with plants lol.
I had all 3 but ended up killing the trevei when I replanted it. I was not successful in propagating it. I'm going to try the perlite. Lol 😂 it is so funny and made me feel so much better about my total failure. 😂
I'm curious how your beneficial insect journy is going. I found out that my cucumber plants have been struggling with thrips all summer long and I've been seeing them all over all of my 30+ plants. I just dont have the time to spray my plants regularly enough for pesticides or soap/neem oil mixes. How did the insects work out for ya?
Hey! I have seen some slight damage on a few plants and I will definitely be ordering another batch probably this week. When I had the beneficial mites I think I took care of the issue because I havent seen any pests or damage in months....until now.
Maybe those jade satin cuttings are jumping out of the pot because they want to be repotted and planked, like a slow motion pothos. If you have the patience, a single climbing treubii in between two jade satin vines could be an amazing combination. The contrast would highlight the treubii subtlety quite well.

Hi. I'm having issues with my treubii. The leaves are curling, but I wet them a couple of days ago. What else could be the issue?? Please help. I don't want the plant to stay curly .
HELP! My scindapsus has a weird leaf problem My scindapsus is geting some werid brown spots on the older leafs🤨 They are not like ‘normale‘ brown spots. The color rangers from greyish brown to olive and the pattern seems sort of scaly. The leafs feels normale. The brown spots are not mushy or flaky. There are no visible pets and it is not a root problem. I water it when the leafs starts to curl up. The plant is in a terractta pot with will draining soli. It receives bright indircet ligth and is producing new growth like nobody’s business. Have any of you seen this before? Cuz I sure don’t understand it😵💫
Have you thought about making videos with just KEY points to know about an individual plant? It's hard to watch more than one because the videos are a bit long. Please consider 🙏
The exotica is diffinately not low light in any way.If you are waiting for the leaves to curl before watering you are stressing the plant, get a moisture meter, water when on 2.Bad advice in this video.
I am not waiting for the leaves to curl.....and these can tolerate a wide range of light. And base your watering off those different lighting conditions. I don't understand why you continue to watch if you clearly don't like the videos?!?!
I don’t think you broke those stems while you were repotting. They both looked like they were yellow at the end, so I think they must have been severed before. 🪴🤔

I haven't had a struggle lime this one in quite awhile. Is that what happened to you? Like individual stems came loose?
@@EverythingPlants
Yes, that was my question.
PS
I heard myself when you said: “I can’t believe I did that.” I’m still laughing about it.
@@EverythingPlants It just dawned on me that I had not acknowledged
@@EverythingPlants It just dawned on me that I had not acknowledged your good news about you beautiful jade scindapsus doing well. I’m very pleased!
Thank you for the full disclosure LOL! If it makes you feel any better I pretty much did the same thing with my Exotica this March! LOL
Oh no....how is it doing now?
@@EverythingPlants I had to root a few random broken pieces. The main part of the plant is recovering nicely, but I'm pretty sure I will not be trying to repot this plant for at least another 2 years. It seems to take them a lot longer to get root bound then say a pothos even though it looks like they have put off tremendous growth up top.
I just got a treubii moonlight last week, one of the full ones from Costa farms for only $10 because the ceramic pot was broken 🙂
I do have a bunch of perlite prop box videos if you are interested!
@@EverythingPlants thanks for the reminder. I will take a look.
@@diannenaworensky6698 thanks for the tips.
@@nancylee1883 My pleasure, I hope it all works out for you !!! 🪴♥️🪴
My scadapsis leaves are curling ? Using my water meter I only water when dry now I know to drench it in between watering...thank you
Good luck Gloriana!
I had the same experience with my Exotica once. I lost a few leaves but it finally recovered. Lol, I forgot about that until I saw this video. 😅
Better go check on it haha
@@EverythingPlants Oh it recovered finally. It is better off when I leave it alone. I learned to wait for the curled leaves
Happy to help lol
I'm curious how your beneficial insect journy is going. I found out that my cucumber plants have been struggling with thrips all summer long and I've been seeing them all over all of my 30+ plants. I just dont have the time to spray my plants regularly enough for pesticides or soap/neem oil mixes. How did the insects work out for ya?
Hey! I have seen some slight damage on a few plants and I will definitely be ordering another batch probably this week. When I had the beneficial mites I think I took care of the issue because I havent seen any pests or damage in months....until now.
@@EverythingPlants oh fantastic, thank you for the reply!😍
Maybe those jade satin cuttings are jumping out of the pot because they want to be repotted and planked, like a slow motion pothos. If you have the patience, a single climbing treubii in between two jade satin vines could be an amazing combination. The contrast would highlight the treubii subtlety quite well.
This is an amazing idea!!!! I will plank one of these cuttings
L💚VE THE EX💚TICA... HE'S Been Such A TR💚💚PER For ME!!! He's In A 8 Inch Pot And I Recently Took Cuttings From His Backside Because He's Placed Up Against A Wall. I Also Have Found That Even When HE Has Been Well- Watered HE Will Keep His Leaves Curled In A Hot Dry Room!!! I Detached His Pot Saucer And Filled It With Moistened Pebbles AND I'm L👀KING At Some Open LUSH-L💚💚KING LEAVES N💚W!!! After L💚💚KING At Your Jade I'm Off To Etsy... Because I BELIEVE I NEED One!!!
Interesting....I didn't know heat would cause that as well. Makes sense though
Hi 😊I want to put mine in leca. Is it ok? And how can I clean the egzotica and silver ann leaf?
Thrip poop = gross
Worm castings = amazing miracle!
Exactly 😂
I have what I was told was a silver Pothos and it looks just like this, much smaller leaves. Are they the same just two different names?
Hello 👋With your scindapsis in the self watering container, do you let the reservoir go dry for a while before refilling since they like to be bone dry before watering?
Whenever I fill up the wallygrow planter it soaks it up fast and I obviously don't refill it until it dries out again
Hi. I'm having issues with my treubii. The leaves are curling, but I wet them a couple of days ago. What else could be the issue?? Please help. I don't want the plant to stay curly .
Where did you get your materials for your plant shower?
The bin from home Depot and the walls are foam board from the dollar store haha
😭 it’s such a nice jade too
It will recover and grow again haha
What about a self watering pot?
Plant care can get frustrating.😢
Ya, but we adapt and overcome! Haha
💚💚
Thanks Kendra!
HELP! My scindapsus has a weird leaf problem
My scindapsus is geting some werid brown spots on the older leafs🤨
They are not like ‘normale‘ brown spots.
Cuz I sure don’t understand it😵💫
Send me a picture to Instagram if you have an account and I can take a look for you
My plant is dying it will be compost tomorrow
How do you keep such a straight face😮😅🫢😂
I was raging on the inside haha
Sorry, but I love the REAL about you. You are a human plant person
Ya, stuff like this happens all the time to everyone. You just adapt and overcome. I'll have to check on the ones that lost the roots
Have you thought about making videos with just KEY points to know about an individual plant? It's hard to watch more than one because the videos are a bit long. Please consider 🙏
I recently did one about snake plants
Thank you for the quick response, yes I just watched that today and you should do more like that- so I can watch MORE of your knowledgeable videos.
