- Here's the second piece I recorded for my Trinity audition! One of my favourite rhythm changes heads, Moose the mooche by Charlie Parker. A lot of the transcriptions and practising I've been doing over the past couple of years have been pretty bebop heavy, just trying to absorb as much of the language as possible, especially loads of Bud Powell. So I thought it made sense to do a tune in that style for the audition! Hope you enjoy. If you haven't already, definitely check out Bud Powell on rhythm changes tunes like Wail and Anthropology!

Fantastic solo, well done! Very Parker-esque
Thanks very much!
No worries, great time, phrasing and intonation!

Nice song! Greetings from Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria🙌
Thank you! Greetings from Derbyshire UK :)
Seeing the tremendous change from the improvisation video (7 years ago) and this... Holy shit 😲
You've got a new sub, keep up the good work 😄🔥
Thanks so much!
very high standard
I've been following this channel for years now and it's sad there are not a lot of subscribers! Anyway, Robert, thanks for the amazing music, and keep it up! Greetings from Russia (:
Thanks! Can't complain at all, am super grateful for everyone watching!
@OneTrickPony are you on the @Pangolin channel too? Not many subs over there and it would be nice to get more there too.
Man this is awesome man
I am currently writing my assignment on rhythm changes my lecture told me to listen to any interpretation of this tune and fill up the question which asks who's interpretation I listened to and why. I'm probably gonna write your name Rorbet 👌.
Wow that's awesome thanks so much!! I'd definitely recommend checking out bud powell playing on rhythm changes too as I've taken pretty heavy influence from him!
Thank you man, who's work did you transcribe the most through out your playing?
I liked myself some Bill evans, he's so unique and his own person. he clearly had a deeper understanding of harmony but ofcourse I also listen to many more pianists. One of my close friends likes Bud Powell so much, I'll definitely gonna check him out.
This is great! Amazing solo. What's your recommendation in absorbing as much bebop language as possible? Im following the Open Studio YT channel and practicing licks and scales, any additional tips?
Btw big fan, have been following your channel since your black-white jazz (more bluesy perhaps) improv vid 7 years ago
Thanks! I found the most helpful thing for developing bebop language to be transcribing Bud Powell solos. Once I transcribed a few of them a could identify my favourite patterns and phrases that he commonly used, and I spent time practising those. I also tried to break down his playing into different categories like scales/runs and arpeggios, which really helped make clear his approach to different chord types. It also just really opened my ears as many of the pianists who came after him took a lot of influence from his language so having some of that vocabulary in your hands/ear makes learning other stuff a lot easier! Hope that helps. And thanks so much for tuning in for so long!
Excellent! :O :) Do you use the pianos of the korg or some VST?
Just the Korg piano here!
Get me cocktail and play all night Bob
Yes pls!!
nice rig bo
yeah ableton rules :)
Noice
Dear Robert, please play some jazz composition with VB3 organ software as well.
Thank you! 👍
So cool. How long have you been learning this?
I started practising soloing over rhythm changes a few months ago, so much to learn!!
Nice solo!! Can you tell me what piano sound you use for this video ? It sounds very classic jazz,I have purchased keyscape but I think your piano sound is more suitable for JAZZ :)
Thanks! It's one of the sounds in the Korg Grandstage, I think it was "German Piano" :)
@@RobertDimbleby thank you
:)
Have you got perfect pitch?
No unfortunately not!
Have you ever thought about getting an acoustic piano???
Great tunes btw!
I have one back at my parents' house! I'd love to have it with me but I haven't lived in one place long enough to warrant moving it round the past few years. Will definitely be using a real piano when I'm in London this September!
@@massivelymusic6006 and thanks!
Of the two this one doesn't have the same WOW factor for me that I found is Skylark. This one is a bit of fun and I like RDJ version better than the original. There is more and different instrumentation in the original making it also a fantastic song is its own way.
I kinda hoped you were gonna use the synths😅. Amazing solo nevertheless
Was very tempting!
