Bought a Territory in khaki. I wasn't sure if the greenish-brownish earth tone would be pleasing but it really is. I steamed the brim to turn up the front corners a bit and it's great. A high quality hat.
I would leave the hat band on I have the same territory hat get a hat stretcher/retainer so after you sweat in it it don't shrink I also pull out the liner it breaths better without it on the hot days
@@HistoricOutdoors I know of Akubra hats over a hundred years old still being worn granted they are stitched and glued together utterly sun faded but still providing 50UPF protection and are still being worn in the sun and rain great tools which we aussies consider them
FWIW = I just bought a Snowy River for $209 AUD + $10 postage from NSW Aus to Melbourne. Terrific hats. The Territory is also awesome - well chosen. Your old hat can be re-blocked and re-birthed. I've had my Snowy River for 40 years - still awesome. The Territory has a beautiful 100mm brim - the Snowy River 83.
Hello! I need your help, I am about to buy this hat, I live in Texas and will mainly use it for my fishing trips, the sun can be brutal most of the summer. I am torn between the color you got the santone fawn and the sand (light color) I want sun protection but the sand color may get dirty quickly. How well do yours protects you from the sun direct heat? Does it does the job or should you recomend to get the sand color instead? I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK. Thank you
Canadian heat and Texas heat are two different things. We may get a maximum of two or three weeks above 85-90°. The light colored hat is popular with guys that work in the middle east however. I don't see why the darker hat would be an oven on your head but then the hottest I've experienced is late June in Missouri. If you think the darker color will heat up more, you can take the lining out. It may save a degree or two. If you think the lighter one will get dirty, you can either make a conscious effort to brush it down every night, and treat it with care, or be okay with the fact it is a bit dirty. Either hat would serve you well. I would have gotten the khaki one if it was available anywhere up here but everything Akubra makes is a smart choice, and for Texan sun, the Territory would be my first pick in any color. Cheers; Lloyd
I just ordered an Akubra Territory, I’m looking forward to wearing it this summer in Australia
I'll be wearing mine in Canadian snow here in a few weeks.

I like the vent holes in it for sure.
You can easily pull the lining out to make it more breathable. I did this with my Cattleman but saved the lining in case there is a cold day.
The hand band is called a pugaree. Each fabric divet represents a state in Australia.
I actually knew this. Mine had a rising sun hat badge and emu feathers in the band when I first got it.
Sharp looking hat, Akubra’s are classic ! If you’re working in it the lining will come out

Interesting fact...each and every Akubra has around 50 rabbit pelts worth of felt in it. hope you enjoy your territory !!!!
I thought it was 15 but that's good felt quality

Someone is eating well with that many rabbits!
how about a two year review. I am looking to buy one but want to make sure it is worth it.
Ordered one last week in the sand color. It should be here in a few days. Can't wait!
Wore mine to a wedding last week. Classy enough for that and an outdoor hat as well.

Should have purchased from David Morgan in Seattle. Best U.S. source for Akubra and great company itself. Same hat is $194 inc shipping.
That's about $250 CDN after exchange and then the government taxes us 15% on anything coming across the border.
The slouch hat is as old as me and I'm pushing 40!
I would like one made of straw for thre hot months.
!
Don't pinch the crown. I see everyone do this. It deforms the hat and that's where the holes form.
Good advice, but after 40 years holes are part of the Territory
Some people pinch and don't even realize it. I'm one of those people. I'm going to have to break the habit when my new hat gets here.
@@HistoricOutdoorsTerritory… I see what you did there! 😂
Was that 217.95 in Canadian dollars? Australian dollars? Or U.S. dollars?
Canadian
Ill give you $500 for it?
Or you could order one for about half that
@@HistoricOutdoors lol I meant the 1980's one you had.
They are like $50 on eBay. And with fewer holes.
$550 over here.
