if you cannot delete the base "Rockstar Games" folder you need to load windows 10-11+ above into safe mode by fully restarting the computer going into safe mode by pressing "F8" onto the computer going back to the rockstar games folder and deleting it. the error occurs when ether.. A. you recently reset the computer, and one drive reinstalled it improperly forgeting files. B. you didn't properly uninstall by deciding go to the root files and uninstall manually by deleting the files. C you had modifications for a multiplayer server/single player, and it wasn't properly placed ont the direct folders/ "modification" area.
F8 > Safe Mode. ThisPC/Documents/Rockstar Games/

i download game, play for 2 hours. turn off the pc and then wake up tommorow with game not working. after spending 5 hours trying to fix it i gave up and uninstalled only to see this video where so many people said it fixed it. i download the game again and after 5 minutes the game now works.

Oh my god, literally the only fix on the internet that works! My launcher wasn't even opening, it was running on task manager and unable to terminate there, but you couldn't open it anywhere because it was "running".
I figured out by myself that I had to reinstall the whole deal, but I had the OneDrive issue and didn't uninstall the visual studio stuff, your video helped with both of those and got it working! Thank you so much man.

Thanks man. Tried doing all the driver updates, deleting the launcher and game and reinstalling them and still didn’t work. Removing everything else you said to finally made it so I could play again. Much appreciated
when i say i literally tried everything i mean i tried every tutorial, i think what worked for me is the deletion of rockstar games from the documents part. I never did that before i just uninstalled it from control panel and removed the desktop icon. Anyways you’re a godsent and Thank you so much. p.s i couldn’t delete it from documents tab first but i opened one drive and it got deleted immediately.

If you cant delete the file, make sure youre signed into onedrive

@@9_mo5yt70 sometimes you get an error uninstalling that file, but if you go and make sure you’re signed into Microsoft Onedrive on your pc, you shouldn’t get the error uninstalling the file

100%Works. If you did all the steps correctly and played the game that day but the next day it refuses to run, run both steam and rockstar games launcher as ADMINISTRATOR and make sure you try to launch GTA V with the rockstar launcher, this fixed mine the next day!

Had the same issue, this did fix my issue now im able to play red dead online again, you should have job at rockstar intead of the apes that work there. I reached out to them for a simply fix and have been waiting a week just to talk to 3 different people and none of them even respond to an email. Your a beast.
I did the steps in the video but when I launch the Launcher is taking forever to load and it just doesn't load this isn't just my pc being bad because I have played online before. After I reverted to windows 10 it started doing this so I went back up to 11 and it kept doing so I went back. I have searched everywhere for this problem and I can't find it anywhere.

Bro, you are my hero! This totally fixed the problem. The actual game file was being listed as the launcher on the task manager this whole time. It took me a few days to figure that out, because I realized that the launcher was using up 30% of my CPU and that was very unusual. This fixed that, so now the game actually launches. However, because life is never fair, I've run into a new problem, which is that the game, when loading, tries to initialize the social club infinitely and it never does. I'm now stuck on the opening loading screen, unable to get inside the game. But thank you so much for getting me past that first problem!

As a workaround to resolve the issue, please try the following steps to resolve this
Open your Rockstar Game Library
From a game's library page, select Manage > Properties.
On the General tab you'll find Launch Options section.
Enter the launch options without the quotations: "-sgadriver=d3d12 -ignorepipelinecache -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -high -borderless".
Close the game's Properties window and launch the RDR2
Access RDR2 and review if this has resolved. Alternatively try with -sgadriver=vulkan -ignorepipelinecache -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -high -borderless

Remember when we didn't need stupid launchers? I remember. Having to open a launcher when you are already on Steam just makes me wanna go back to piracy, at least I don't need the launcher to play offline (yeah, you cannot play GTA offline because of the launcher requiring constant internet access).
It didn't work right away after the tutorial. But with a small fix it did.
Whenever I ran the Launcher Patcher, it would create a new Rockstar Games folder on my secondary hard drive, but only with the folder "Launcher" inside of it.
The Rockstar Games folder needs to be complete with the folders "Social Club" and "Launcher". And apparently it needs this complete Rockstar Games folder on BOTH hard drives. Only then it worked for me, no idea why.

Wow it finally worked! The Onedrive issue is a must!. Documents folder with Rockstar Game folder must be completely deleted for it to work. The only way to delete the folder is to install Onedrive and add the (This PC) Documents) Rockstar Games folder to the Onedrive folder and then delete it for it to be completely removed from the pc.
