I've always liked the character Baba Yaga, so the chicken legs got my attention, and the whole time I was watching this I was thinking pretty much exactly what Jazzy said word-for-word in his survival rant. Just add some threats in the spooky forest, a hunger mechanic, and a roguelike option (it's already proceedurally generated), and you got a kick-ass survival game here.
The map is actually SO helpful. Even if you can't see the overhead compass you can just open your map to see where your little icon is. Also, you can move your chicken house at any time. I've repositioned it plenty of times to be closer to the village, to a forest so I can get more wood, to the river just to look how it looks etc.
The roadmap makes me excited! I love the style of this game, but yea there are a few issues with it in early access right now. I get lost in it easily. Hope they keep updating it because it’s fun so far!
I agree with most of your thoughts about Reka. Its a game I wanted to fall in love with but honestly - it falls flat in really important ways - yes to the villagers dialogue and appearance - I spoke to them all and did their quests - but really was unmotivated to engage with them. The desolate open world wasnt particularly fun to explore - navigation and time involved versus rewards wasnt enough to keep my attention. Yes to finding wood and mastering building ... the objects were cute (especially the animals you acquire) but the overall process and mechanics felt stilted. Yes to the length of the game - I too felt the content was more in keeping with an introduction to the story and game, not the entirety of the story.
The third missing hive IS actually part of the quest! The Lutki took it (Seen at 5:52) and you can choose whether to take it from them to return to the village, or let them keep it.
You harvest wood like you harvest forageables, with your crows. Get close to a tree and click on your harvest button (I thing it's left click?). Couple of hits to the tree after, it collapses and with the button held you get the wood that has fallen. You can also collect wood from structures you fall, like the hunter towers.
Not all quests are the same, I got new quests in the 4th and 5th map and so on that I hadn't seen before. You also get more forageables when you enter new maps, mostly from villagers (cabbages, pumpkins, garlic etc). But I get your point that we need more main story.
I love that it's (just) a spooky looking cozy game 😊❤ and was quite happy that the demo doesn't have survival mechanics because I personally find them very stressful. I bought "don't starve together" with my friends and was soo stressed out when we played it that i decided to never touch it again. 😅
From Rasputin,Vasalisa, Ivan, Rosa to the Bear shapeshifter, Rusulka,, leschi, etc. plus a bone chicken & patchwork cat as familiar Shorter travel, she can ride a butter churn with a large wooden spatula
Fun fact: "reka" means "the river" in Russian. Also, the way they pronounce this might be mind-blowing. It's like "reekA" : e becomes ee as in "meeting", but the accent is on the last A.
Definitely gonna get the game, if only to support the devs! I really want to see more happen in this game, so if they can use my 15$ to keep working on it, I'm more than happy to contribute :')
I loved the game, but I'm here exactly because I'm shocked there's only one quest and it's over. I thought I was the one who didn't get how to access the next phase, but apparently... That's all.
I personally love the exploration and looking for things so the gameplay loop is a little lost on me, because the game right now depends on you wanting to build up your house, which means you'll complete an area and leave for the next one and so on.
Bit of a warning though!: the game is VERY buggy. I've had several problems with quests myself when you get out of and into the game again. And it sometimes glitches when you change maps. BUT I'm enjoying myself immensely and I've already played 18 hours (would have played more but work got in the way and another game I really wanted got released so I had to divide my time between them). If you enjoy building and decorating and exploration, go for it. You'll have a great time and help the developers be able to continue making the game greater. They also have a roadmap in their twitter account and discord (those are just the palces I know but there may be more) where you can see when they're planning to release the new patches
I completely agree I want to like this game but I feel like it needs battle or danger in some sense. I know I’ll get bored if it feels like there’s no overarching story that I’m following or trying to finish.
Mäh, looks like they planing on make 1/4 o no encountering enemies, no story plot other then a very little one...but yeah its a neat world,,altough pretty empty....and a cool hut. f a game. No combat system,
Goats witches crows and creepy old witch lady and a headless chicken house, yes please!!! I love it haha! 🐔
I love how you always provide examples to support your points in your reviews, it

IM OBSESSED WITH THIS GAME! Everyone who likes cozy autumn vibes (+witchy) should try it out!
Now THIS is a proper Baba Yaga game. I give this game the slav seal of approval.
Your review was so good, I had to leave a comment and share it with my gaming

I appreciate the fact that you don't just focus on the surface-level aspects of the
Definitely my favorite gaming channel

This game review was so well-structured, it was easy to follow and understand.
I would like to see them really go into Slavic lore & Slavic fairy tales w/ the creators & historical people.

Your reviews always provide a great balance of both the gameplay and story
I like that it's not a survival game. It's a breath of fresh air.

Your review was so insightful, I feel like I've gained a new perspective on the game.

I laughed so hard when I just went over to a well and out came a fully built dining table

I literally played the demo for hours. I cant wait for the full game.

Survival in this would be so cool

multiplayer aspects of each game.
I propose that they implement multiplayer and house on house combat.
so Reka is basically Life is Strange. But without talking. And without time travel. And without searching for bottles in the junkyard.
Yeah it was a huge miss not making it survival. Might be a deal breaker for me personally since I can see myself getting bored quickly.
hope you get some kind of a steed because that open world would be pretty great for it
