This was one of the best demos of ANY drum kit I’ve ever heard. No overplaying with a bunch of, “hey look at me grooves!” But it was great that he was playing a lot of tom grooves and doing a bunch of tom fills without hitting the crashes at the end of the films so we could really hear just the kit!!! More often then not, when you check out a demo video the person doing the playing is either overplaying, just locking down a snare and bass groove, or they’re playing to backing tracks completely drowning out the kit! But this demo here.... perfect!!! Great job. I had one of these when they were called Keystone X and I wish I wouldn’t have gotten rid of it!!! 😩😩😩
Great drumming and great video. I have this kit and was debating if I wanted to tune differently so this helped my hear the drums in different tunings. Now I’m think of switching from coated to clear heads.
I don't know about being a "rock drummer", just a superb drummer is more befitting I think! Wonderful ,flowing playing, you really do these drums justice. I've just bought one of these kits from my local drum shop in Northampton, England and am still getting to know it. What sold me on the kit as I wasn't really thinking about a modern day Ludwig was the fact that the drums just growled in a dark, understated, brooding sort of manner and pitched a lovely, fat tonal note no matter how hard they were hit. You could use these in any musical situation because they can speak with just a swoosh of a brush and almost deafen you if you want to use your metal/marching drumsticks on them! I'm not really into the whole wood types discussion, a drum's a drum, but these did give a different sound, quite unusual from other drums I've heard in the past. Well worth the money if you are in that sort of market. Great video! Thanks guys!🙂
I want to get the same configuration and use some coated heads. So excited but I'm buying a good set of cymbals first. I'm 17 I just work part time at a fast restaurant until I get the right gear then ima quit and start gigging after high school. I'm very practiced up I've been playing g since I was very young but seriously for about 4 years. Once I get the right gear ima go out and perform as much as possible with any and every band in any and every genre until i find the right band to stick with.
I have a set the the original Keystone line, which is what this was called 10 years ago, and I,d Easily choose it over my classic maple kit if I was forced to give up one
Very nice kit. Great demo! I have a tama starclassic maple kit in the exact same configuration and I bought my protector cases bags from you guys; very helpful and knowledgeable team! Love your playing style!!!
🖤★ solid my man, good grooves you are playing, in pocket and to the point, for being small in sizes they have great bottom end and tone, as with any kit knowing which heads to use and tuning is key...groovy.
What I think? I think it's the best sounding new kit along with the Pearl Masters Maple/Gum. They are different and sound amazing. Btw, great presentation!
Beautiful finish, beautiful sound, superb playing, great audio quality 👍🥁💪I wonder also if this Tennessee whiskey finish would be available on other high end Ludwig drums..
@@julianboyd8719 They sound GREAT (I'm a Rock kind of guy too) and Ryan is a maestro (!), but I have Classic Maples and it's really hard to beat them for versatility, though I prefer mahogany for kick drums. The Classic Oak sounds like a WINNER for folks who exclusively play Rock or prefer a more "focused" sound than Classic Maples. It's all good and great that you can get such a variety of reasonably priced shell constructions and basic sounds from Ludwig...built in North Carolina! The 2112 folks are also super helpful!
@@Paisteconvert yeah both are solid. I do mostly play loud music so for me they are the ideal shell. I have a smaller classic maple that I pull out for mellower gigs.
A 13" rack tom can make things look that way, but Ludwig's 20" kicks come with eight lugs per head. And as you can see, this has ten lugs per head. It's a 22.

drumfanatik316 thank you very much!
could not agree more!
In 17 years of playing and listening to drums I think this is the only kit that make me wants to spend this kind of money.
Those toms, medium-tuned, hit me right in the soul.
Also: "I'm a rock drummer," followed by amazing playing of all sorts. You're a master, my man!
This thing sounds monstrous tuned low.
Excellent demo on some beautiful drums!

Kudos on the great demo. Not many out there for the Classic Oaks. Sounds great.
13/16/22 is the magic sauce.
What brilliant and sensible playing on a beautiful sounding kit
Well thank you very much!
Sensitive playing was what I meant.
You are such a good drummer
i love these cymbal
Spectacular Drumming! Already knew the kit sounds great, but I was delighted by the drummers style!
I have this kit with the 24" kick when it was still the keystone x series. Kit sounds monstrous and I've gotten many complements on it.

That’s one bad ass sounding kit!! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼🥁
That's a beautiful drumset
Great job demoing this Ludwig oak kit. They sound fantastic. That heirloom snare ain't no slouch either. Nice tunning and playing .
LOVE the tone of these drums - And I have several 3 ply vintage Ludwig kits
I almost feel guilty saying this but I think I like these more than the classic maples

You must really hate your job…
@@samcook1545 I don't know how you came to that conclusion from my drum preference but you're not wrong
So do many of us. Best sounding Ludwigs IMO
Awesome playing! Super smooth and masterful! ❤

Beautiful sound; great playing...
Stellar performance of a great sounding kit!
Great video, the playing is amazing!
Hey Ryan - Stellar solo! I've got to watch you a bit closer so I can learn those great riffs you play... Those Luddies sound sweet!
Gorgeous and nice playing!
Love your playing!

I'm going to have to stop by and check you guys out.
High tuning is by far my favourite
Several Tony licks in there from Agitation. Love it!
Sooooooo gooood! sensational... great playing by the way too
Even with high tuning sounds rich and warm
Wonderful drums and a fine fine drummer.. go buy your drums at 2112 the guys that are all as nice as Ryan!!
Great playing young talent! 👍
Makes me want to buy a kit in Oak Classic, Tennessee Whiskey finish.
last year they were called keystone model --- i have a down beat kit, what a great sound mine are nite oak

Yeah that playing is great.
Great demo!
This dudes time is solid as a rock.
🙏 thank you!
Beautiful finish, beautiful sound, superb playing, great audio quality 👍🥁💪I wonder also if this Tennessee whiskey finish would be available on other high end Ludwig drums..
I think I like them more than the classic maple shells, all three tunnings.
Same. They have way more character.

Great demo...FANTASTIC drummer! Are those clear Remo Emperors on the toms?
Add another floor Tom and I’m sold
those cymbals sound amazing! what are they?
Left to right: 18" Sabian HHX Complex Thin Crash, 22" Sabian Artisan Medium Ride, 20" HHX Complex Thin Crash, 16" Meinl Sand Hats, 17" Paiste Signature Mellow Crash
@@2112percussion_ Thanks!
Rush song “ The Trees “ talks about oak and maple wood 🪵
Neil Peart would have loved these kick ass rock drums 🥁
Sound way better then DWs
This Ludwig kit sounds great, can you tell me what model drum heads you used for this video? Thanks, great playing too!
would like to here higher pitch demo
Great playing! Great sounding drums! What cymbals are you using!

Holy hell
How do you think it would sound with coated heads like ambassadors?
Brother, you have some nice... uhm, articulation or whatever... but your drumming is really, really nice. Cheers!
Thats how u demo drums.
Other channels take notice. Drums. Not symbols
love the sound for sure except the snare....too much ring....love more muffler....my taste....
Snare ?
What’s the snare..sounds great.
Roy Beckerman 5.5x14 Heirloom Brass. It's mentioned in the intro

@@2112percussion_
How have you got the top and bottom tuned, when on high.
Roy Beckerman tight and even?
You play the snare drum the most so how about using an oak snare so we can hear the full kit sound?
At the time, these kits were being sold with the Heirloom snares
put a clear reso on the bass so u can see the interior
What tuning numbers for medium tuning? Do you use a tune bot or drum dial or just by ear?
All tuning is done by ear.
What heads are you using?
I think they sound awesome but the snare ring out is over the top, Distracts from the Tom’s. Sorry Ugh
Not THAT'S how you demo a kit!!!
that floor tom sounded so fatt
GREAT chops my fellow drummer !!! As "drumfanatik316" so perfectly put it, well done ! Thank you !!!
Great demonstration, drums set and performance. Nice tunings and miking.
Great drumming kid ! That finish on this kit is obviously not a wrap...beautiful !
The kit sounds incredible obviously but what cymbals are these the sound really smooth and nice!
High tuning was great. Would love to hear them tuned higher with single-ply coated heads!
Great demo! What heads are on these drums and how are batters and resos tuned?
TASTY playing and kit
These drums sound awesome
Are those classic mini lugs ?
Normal sized classic lugs
the bass drum looks more like 20 inches
A 13" rack tom can make things look that way, but Ludwig's 20" kicks come with eight lugs per head. And as you can see, this has ten lugs per head. It's a 22.
