If you remove them this way you risk leaving the tic's mouthparts in the hedgehog's skin. This will cause infection. Even if you get the whole tic out by pulling, the tic could vomit the blood it has taken, back into the hedgehog, also causing bad infection.
The CORRECT way to remove tics is to twist them. Hold the tic with tweezers and twist the tweezers as you pull. This makes the tic let go. You can also juy special tweezers for the job.
