2020 everyone! I'm glad you made it here.
One year ago, I was volunteering at my local FoodBank and the other people who were working on my shift were a group of guys from the Navy who were "voluntold." Because I didn't know them, I didn't care to introduce myself or start a conversation because I figured I would never see them again anyway. And this is odd for me because I am usually one to start small talk. But this particular day, I didn't care, bumming out (I typically wear heels and all that jazz), and just wanted to mind my own business and get everything over with. Though this was a 4 hour volunteer shift, around an hour in, one of the Navy guys, who was talking to his buddy, starts to walk towards me, but then before he gets to me, I see him walk back, I guess in hesitation. But then he turns back around and stands next to me and says something along the lines of "I see you're alone." We make small talk and he talks about how he misses his fam in Cali and how he wasn't excited to be stationed here and other things (even showing me a picture of his family and talking about his little sister). And we start talking about our faith and music and he tells me to look up this song... which I've never heard until afterwards. Well, I never got his name and mann, the way he made me feel... I kept volunteering at that same time every week, hoping to bump into him again. But it's been a year, well March 23, and I've never saw him again. I used to pray to God to let our paths meet again because I swear I would marry that guy. And I'm starting to lose memory of his face, but the way he made me feel, I can never forget that. But if you're that guy that I met in Norfolk, VA, don't worry, you don't have to marry me, but mannn, I would love to have a friend like you in my life.
