hello! if my old nas is unencrypted can I still go ahead and encrypt the volume on my new nas before migrating? on your tutorial you skipped encryption
Good question. I probably have done that but not thought about it. I just encrypt the entire volume by default now instead of folders. Although, if something is really sensitive, then add an encrypted shared folder. And to be clear, encryption is just to protect from theft.
thanks! great migration overview. I am at it to move and this certainly helps me out a lot!
My problem 6 digit code!
Where I get it?
Destination - Remote.. I own it
Sorry if you mentioned this during the video but how are the 2 NAS servers connected? Via 1 ethernet cable? Are the ports bonded?
Connected to the network switch as separate devices. You need a separate IP address for both. So the data transfer goes through your LAN.

I have a question. Can I set up the new nas to be SHR-2 when migrating using the Migration Assistant? The source nas is SHR-1
I haven't tried but it might work. You'll need an additional HDD for sure.
