How to repair a leaky vent pipe boot on a Flat Roof with Silicone Seal:
1. Clean the area around the vent pipe to remove any loose sand and dust
2. If necessary, use a putty knife or the claw of a hammer to remove old tar
3. Take masking tape and tape off a square block on the roof around the vent pipe area
4. Tape off the pipe approximately 3 inches above the area of the leak
5. Apply 1 coat of Silicone Seal to cover the area from the masking tape on the pipe and inside the square area on the roof
6. Cut a long enough polyester fleece to wrap around the vent pipe
7. Cut tabs about 2" deep in the 4" fleece
8. Embed the fleece into the freshly coated area wrapping the pipe and the tabs sitting flat on the roof surface
9. Apply a topcoat of Silicone Seal covering the entire fleece
10 Remove the masking tape
11. It can rain within an hour after applying the sealant and it will cure completely in 24 hours

I wish I saw this last summer, now have leaks in the old part of the building that just caused a key machine to go down!!! ice dam thawed and water went in the cabinet over night!!

Great video. Can you post a link to where i can buy the Xtreme Silicone Seal? I looked online but can't find the same 1/2 bucket you used. I see an orange one on their website, but yours is white with green lettering, which I don't see on their site. I guess that's the Super Silicone Seal. I don't see the Xtreme on their site.

You can try other products similar to this but use the same technique. The Fleece is the secret. It is a polyester fabric
Hope u can help me- i put a shingle roof on a flat patio roof -realized i should NOT have done that. I dont have the $ to get the roll roofing done now, is there anything i can put on the shingles on the flat roof so they stop leaking. I cant figure out what spot its leaking cause its flat but anything i can roll or put on there all over the shingles? Thank you!!
Go to a Roofing Supplier near you, and buy a roll of EPDM rubber. Make sure you have the measurements of your roof so you can get a slightly larger rubber.
Then remove all the shingles and nails, and roll this membrane out over the flat roof. Fold the membrane over the edge of the roof and cut excess off. Then nail the membrane tight on the facia or sides of the roof.
I hope you can figure out what I am trying to explain.
So, you don't have the $ to buy the membrane. I think more you won't have the money to replace all the damage that will happen till you can get around it. Try to get $400 together so you can cover and preserve the integrity of your roof structure.
