I feel like I would just build a base for the matress that comes right up to the the height of the cup holders and trim the mattress pad to fit. I'm short, haha. I would use the back as a closet (even put up a rod as live in dresses) and storage for seldom-used items. Everything I need daily would go under the bed. The passanger side door area would be a kitchen space, with a small fridge cooler in between the seats. I dunno... I can dream.
It all sounds fantastic! Thanks for the comment! Since I am speaking of a No build, while a platform is a fantastic idea, it doesn’t resonate with my build type. Building into the van is not an option for me. If I built a platform, then I’d have to store it somewhere. It may be a great option for full time van dwellers though! Have a fantastic day! 😃🙌🏼💯
Yes. I actually use the front seat of my minivan like that when I am lounging around at home. It is sooooooo cozy and provides me a quiet place after a long day of teaching and gives me a great place to deescalatea while my kids are in the house. I love your setup and I and building out my minivan now and documenting on my youtube channel. I am ready for solo peaceful trips.
Thanks for watching! In the direction I have this bed going, it would have to be a very short cot. This bed is only 67 inches long. I have a couple other cots I use that go in the other direction, north south in the van from driver seat to hatch. Maybe one of those types of cats would be good for that direction? I have a fabulous evening!😃🙌🏼💯
Okay, 👍 I understand the setup now, wondering if the table is sturdy enough to use as my bed? What about the idea of a thick piece of plywood that runs from one side to the other and sits atop those cup holders? Have you tried that as a bed platform? What do you think about this idea?
In order for the bed to be 67 inches long and Hass to be high enough that the platform with the mattress reaches window to window. Otherwise the bed will be several inches shorter. I don’t think the armrest cupholder plastic is sturdy enough to hold a platform and a person.
Very cool - curious to see if you part with the coleman cot - I just don't think we could do it! We just LOVE our cots! Keep making memories & adventure on! ~Karen & Shannon WOY
Thanks for watching! I won’t part with the cot! I love that thing! I’ll definitely switch my set up back and forth. I still haven’t figured out what I’m doing on this trip! 😂😂😂 Have a fantastic day! 😃🙌🏼💯
The wedge is perfectly sized! On this end of the camera, it gives the impression the seat is longer because it is more flat. When you tuck your mattress down, it seems like it is slightly elevated so that is good by the time you place your pillow there. Have fun camping off the lake with Clem! I can imagine she's over the moon to go!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I couldn’t believe it! That wedge fit perfectly in the seat area at just the right angle and just the right thickness. It’s perfect! I can actually take that mattress and pull it down towards the other side of the bed as well and tuck it evenly on both sides I suppose. But, it’s half of one, six of another, it makes no difference really. Clem is so excited about going van camping! Camping in general, she’s been camping with me since she’s been 3 1/2 years old! I’ll make sure to take some video and upload some of our adventure! Have a fantastic day🙌🏼💯😃
Yup, I know what you mean. Been there. Having something to sleep on that fits perfectly seems to make everything else in the vehicle seem to fit perfectly too. I had couch cushions in my truck for many years that always felt awkward. When I saw a brand-new twin mattress at a thrift store, I took measurements and found out the twin mattress fit perfectly. So I paid 80 dollars for the mattress and have slept so much more comfortably ever since.
Love that wedge! I wonder if you took the headrest off, put your fridge behind the seat for an extension, then threw the Coleman mattress on top? I'm thinking of this for my van. I already put the mattress over the seat and it was pretty comfy!
Thanks for watching! That’s a fantastic idea! 😃😃😃 I’ll give it a try! I’m still torn between putting the Coleman comfortsmart cot in there, or just using the front seat as a bed. I think I’m going to make up the van, both ways, and see what I have more peace with. I’ll definitely make a video about it! Have a fantastic day!😃🙌🏼💯
As for where your granddaughter will sleep, how about laying the air mattress on the floor and letting her sleep there? If that's not feasible, then ask your granddaughter for her input. From what I've seen of her, she seems REALLY SMART, like your son Nathan. I'll bet your granddaughter will come up with something.

Have you ever thought about using the old army cot..It’s would be more like a sling

I love that it’s always a work in progress in adjusting one’s minivan adventure camper escape pod for each trip, depending on where you’re going. 🙃

How do you keep the table from falling over when you drive?
Thanks for watching! I tie the table down to my wall anchors in the rear of the van. I use paracord. I use paracord to everything down from the back.
What are the dimensions of the Lifetime table & where did you get it?
Thanks for watching! The links to everything in my van is in the description box below the video!
Look like you guys will have a great time 😂

@ModernDayPilgrim how thick is that wedge at the end?
So your 5'6?
Thanks for watching! No, I’m 5’2”
