  • Performed by Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb and David Crosby circa 2004 at a start-studded Tribute to Brian Wilson. In the chorus what sounds like "My God, my God" is actually "Bygone, Bygone" a fitting phrase since all the poetic words here, by Van Dyke Parks, intend to evoke a nostalgia for an elegant era of aristocracy, opera and chandeliers. The classic refrain "Columnated ruins domino" drove Mike Love mad because he didn't understand poetry. Parks said that line was meant to evoke a crumbling empire. Besides, it sounds great, especially in falsetto.
