"Star Wars" ? why because the bad guys all called "The Empire" and there's a character with some glowing swords? Maybe the movie actually looked like it, but this recap doesn't make me think Star Wars at all.
So they are poor, but in the movie they are offered machinery as a reward for helping the baddies, and he says something along the lines of "we prefer working the soil with our hands, we dont want your machinery. It makes us feel one with the soil".

This feels like it was based on a book or comic, much more cohesive plot structure, fleshed out background and bizarre characters than the typical standards of original scripts
Just finished watching it. Imagine its a much worse version of Rogue One, where they are just assembling the Avengers of their known area, but no Death Star like plans to steal, just some bad dudes in a ship that represent the Empire and they are going to steal all their crops, so we need to get like 8 people to fight the baddies. Its kind of just like a really long office meeting, with very short introductory side quests as you meet someone. They cant convince the general to join at first and she just goes, "yea you killed your men, but what about revenge" and he all of a sudden changes years of him wanting to die on this gladiator planet to like... "alright, im with you". WHAT?! Coolest character is the Robot voiced by Anthony Hopkins and he's in the movie for maybe 10 mins. Actors were good and I feel kinda bad this will now be linked with them. The story was just ehhhh. Hopefully however many parts are after this save it.

Eve online's lore actually has an explanation to this. Apparently, humans had found a wormhole to another galaxy some 20,000 years into the future, where they live for a few centuries until the wormhole closed, trapping them there forever while all the technology they had slowly disappeared or lost relevance as time went on. The few humans that survived on various planets scattered over the galaxy restart the cycle of human evolution, going from stone age to iron and then to the industrial revolution until finally they rediscover the technology to build spaceships and traverse the space and finally all those humans on these distant planets connect but in a bloody manner since the first thing they did was war amongst each other which continues till date except it's now done through cyborgs (as shown in this movie) who could re upload their consciousness to another body and thus nullify aging and death. The players play as those cyborgs and run errands for the empires while also building their own.
Despite people trashing it, I quite enjoyed it. The world building was interesting and plausable. It seems to have inspiration from Dune and Star Wars.
The world building was fine, though completely derivative and uninspired. What was unforgivable tho was that the story was utterly unmotivated. There was zero reason for anyone (including kora tbh) to come back to help the village. There’s nothing in it that will help them, or hurt the ‘empire’. It’s so so stupid.
what is the point of "worldbuilding" if is souless and generic? Star wars and Dune or its own ways are good not only because creating a lora or worldbuilding
@user-ye4bu6xh4c The Directors Cut will be out in the next few weeks and will give the main characters a back story. I suspect that "Sam" is Princess Issa, hence why the Jimmy JC-1435 reacted in the way that it did when Sam touched its face, and why "Kora" felt honour-bound to step in and save Sam from the soldiers. If my calculations are correct, 23 years have passed since Arthelais was 18 and led the conquest of three planets, and then became seneschal to Princess Issa, who was 12 when they met, which could well make Issa about the same age as Sam.
There is no way this movie does not take heavy inspiration from a sci-fi mmo called Eve online. There is a playable race of humans in Eve online known as Amarr (the colonisers in this movie) who like to colonise other planets and enslave the weak. They come across another playable race of spacefaring civilization known as Minmatar (the villagers of the planet in the beginning) and they get enslaved too even after warring for over 200 years. The colonisers' spaceships in this movie had paint schemes that are heavily similar to the Amarr space ships in eve online. The noble that turns out to be a cyborg at the end is revived in a similar manner to the players when they get revived in the game. Basically, the players in eve online function similar to this cyborg. They have various places in their body for those connecting wires through which they can upload their consciousness to the cloud and whenever they die, they can use it to revive.
@@shervinmarzock7021 yes that as well but the aesthetics, the grim, dystopian tone of the movie feels more like Eve online.
