Troll Hunter (2010) is the best troll movie to date... It's atmospheric,Cinematography is top Notch... One of those "found footage" movies, except this one is unique, clever, and well done, and it plays on the history of belief in trolls from Norse folklore. The details of the whole story fit nicely together, the acting is pretty good and the special effects are adequate.
So in short, there was a Troll family which was killed off, a Troll king was lured to the mountains and sealed while rest of family was killed. Taking that the Troll in movie was the Troll king, i presume that one that shows at end (at least glimps of it) was the baby that was spared and used to lure the Troll king. Would be nice to se sequel of this movie. I am sad about the trolls in movie to. Taking that they were massacred just because they were different. In end trolls were not antagonists, they lived on Earth longer then Humans, and we humans cause their extinction. Like in real life where our actions change our Earth every day, causing more and more animals to go extinct. For what, power, profit, nothing of which matters. Petty wars which leads to nowhere.
I don't think I can watch the movie, the skull breaking and the troll crying made me super sad. That's just horrifying.... once again reminded by the monstrocity we humans have been doing for centuries. Reminds me to cry for all the species that have gone extinct and others that are vulnerable currently.
@@nutzhazel simple really when you learn all of history is mistakes you learn to make it right and do with the pre-assessors could not do and do what is right and plus by learning all of history’s mistakes in all of history’s atrocities and war situation and hatred, we can learn to make a better future where our ancestors could not do like compromise and reason, and not to mention try to settle things without conflict and war and bloodshed

I’m so glad that in the climax of the movie, we leave the car chase with a troll so that we can get to what really mattered. The military guy deciding to give a 2 minute long speech about uh… about fighting and, and “this is what we do!” all so that when the troll finally made it, they would have 0 impact on the climax whatsoever. It was such a weird speech trying to motivate the other soldiers, which only would have worked had we seen them react in any way whatsoever to all the people who already got killed by the troll. But there was 0 mention of the casualties other than MC lady’s dad throughout the movie. So many people died, to 0 emotional response. Main military guy’s comrades were getting slaughtered all around him, and he never references it or even looks perturbed by what happened on his watch… but suddenly he’s giving that kind of speech like they’re fighting some evil force? When we already know at that point that the enemy is just a sad troll trying to get the bones of its family back? So weird
Was a light and 0 logic movie though, they literally sent 3 tanks and few RPGs to stop it, and said they used all the modern weapons, like what year is this based on 1889? And also why was she sitting in a council and bossing around like that, who let her lol, and then they even listened to her and sent fkn helicopters (well the first time they used actual Air Force on it, was with bells? Fkn bells.. the characters were uninteresting, and the plot was a typical Father daughter reunion story devoid of logic. 1/10 overrated movie
@@drteatrex2719 That's pretty much the weapons we have in Norway... We even mothballed our Rocket artillery several years ago (before taking them out of storage to donate to Ukraine). The Norwegian armed forces also don't have combat helicopters, and them using the bells was based on old Troll lore. Something they attempted after conventional weapons failed. That being said, they would probably have attempted to use F-35s before it reached Oslo. But it's a silly movie monster/disaster movie, it's supposed to be a bit dumb and it's referencing a lot of old silly disaster/monster movies. The dumb speeches was an obvious not to movies like Independence day.

I got a movie from Norway a few years before this was released. It's a found footage style movie called "Troll Hunter" and follows a group of student film makers as they think at first they are following a bear poacher, but later he turns out to be a government sanctioned troll control officer tasked with hunting down rogue trolls, and hiding evidence of their existence. It'sa an incredible movie, AND i can tell you it makes a great double feature evening with THIS movie.
In the Philippines, we also have the same folklore where mountains are the remains of giants, same with TROLLS. It's amazing how different places, races and beliefs have a somewhat similar stories. Sometimes our logical ways of looking at things robs us of the imaginative story our ancestors has passed throughout the ages.
And how they still left her there without consequence after assaulting a government official. 😐 I get it's fantasy genre but a little realism should've gone a long way

I have never realized that Norwegian movies have high standard until I watch this.
Really hope they make a second movie with the same cast, director, writer.
@John Ashley but will they use the same writers, directors.
@@ankitbhardwaj6640 its Norway production, not Disney so very likely they will use same writers and cast
Agreed. I first watched it expecting a campy b-rated horror flick. It was surprisingly a wonderfully executed horror film.
Agreed, it's really nutty how it somehow went under the radar. It's the best found footage film by a mile, makes Blair Witch look pedestrian.
2:52 immediate W movie. So many movies cheaply introduce a dog just to kill it for emotional effect
One of the best troll movies ever. 🙌
This movie gives GODZILLA's vibes. Whole plot is so relatable.
King Kong but a troll. Nice movie, though.
The movie name is ‘’ Troll ‘’ i am from norway and i think this is the saddest most yet best movie ive seen
I don't think I can watch the movie, the skull breaking and the troll crying made me super sad. That's just horrifying.... once again reminded by the monstrocity we humans have been doing for centuries. Reminds me to cry for all the species that have gone extinct and others that are vulnerable currently.
Yeah I’m with you on that 👍🏿, those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it
Not to mention what we do to each other!!

Scandinavian movies and TV shows are so well made these days
Watched it yesterday, the cgi on the troll is pretty good. The movie is okay.
Humans always destroy the things they don't understand. I am glad there was a recap, I am now watching the film. From this just highlighting our nature as a species.
When I knew this was coming out, (no offense to the dub) but I immediately wanted to watch it in it's native tongue first.
Best way to experience it. 😍
The name is 'Troll'. Dec 1 2022. It's on Netflix for those of you who wanna watch it.

What is the name of this movie, please?
@@laurencefegan1875 Troll
I like how everyone is ignoring the fact that it is likely the baby troll they killed and the king is what stirred in the rubble at the end
@@rowaystarco yeah but I think it cud be been a bit better this movie, hoped it wouldn’t be too hollywoodish since European movies are usually more serious
This and Trollhunter are now favorite foreign movies.
Now these are the type of international movies I need to know about!!
“You gotta believe I’m something too see it!” Damn that hit differently for some reason!
"The military lost sight of the troll" is the most apt description of Norwegian defense forces.
What's the name of it?

Loved this movie so much. So so sad. But Dad is validated and they make up in the end.
Excellent Movie Norwegian Folklore is one of the most interesting I have ever heard of
How tf did medieval norway manage to kill an entire kingdom of trolls tho? And Tobias said trolls are smart too
It's not the smartest who win. It's sufficient intelligence, but not so much it quenches animal aggression.
i assume the baby trolls could be killed via medieval tech, but the adults probably by like suddenly creating an opening for sunlight to get in.
Yeah, Tobias knew the truth all along, and he was right all along as well, but no one believed him
Just read the folklore stories and you'll know how. Tricking them is usually the way.
Well Thor Is famous for slaying giants and trolls maybe he helped
Justice for the trolls……and my boy Tobias😂
The most unbelievable part of this movie is when the skinny IT girl punched the army officer and actually hurt him.
And how they still left her there without consequence after assaulting a government official. 😐 I get it's fantasy genre but a little realism should've gone a long way

Troll awakens in modern day America and logs in to a computer
A better movie would have been how the medieval Norwegian Christians hunted down the trolls.
This movie gives me such weird 1999 Godzilla vibes. It hits so many of the same story beats.
I saw so many troll figurines when I went to Norway, it was crazy.
I went to Olden, Flam (probably spelt wrong), Stavanger and one other place beginning with S.
Some of the people did actually feel sad when the troll was crying and even the troll didn't really want to hurt anyone, but Difference and lack of communication, so genocide it is.

I love the way u recap movies
This was actually a pretty good movie. I liked the folklore behind it and the beautiful countryside. I think there should of been a bit more background to it but I guess a sequel could fill in the gaps. But still a good movie to watch.
Will there ever be a second part of this movie? It was so gooodddd and definitely not the ending I had expected- but it was definitely one of those movies and folklore that stuck with me.

I think I still prefer Troll Hunter over this, this is good don't get me wrong but I think I prefer the mockumentary approach Troll Hunter used and the whole conspiracy angle to it.
Troll hunter was great.
This movie drove me crazy. They see a creature emerge from a cave and yet anytime her father mentions trolls, she tells him to shut up with that fantasy junk. Well, a troll is as good a guess as any other!
I'm the same way when someone wakes me up to early.
Military: Oh yes let us go grab a random smart person and let them deal with this 👍
Feels like a cheaper copy paste version of Godzilla with Matthew Broderick, down to the car chase scene and the main culprit trapped in pain before death

- There are footprints and a giant in the video.
- Nah bro, it's just gas!
I enjoyed watching this movie and felt bad for the Troll.
Yeah, I feel terrible for the troll 🧌 as well. The reason he was in that mountain 🏔️ it’s because of the Christianization that killed his family and Lorden into the cavern of the mountains 🏔️ to be buried alive to be left for dead 💀 only to find out that he’s been trapped in there for thousands of years until he is broken free but soon realize his children are gone 😢😔
2 corrections, hope you don't mind:
7:04 he lets them drive in the truck, there is no helicopter involved here
9:12 a man (father) calls out the name "Viktor" when looking for this child, so it's more likely a boy
I saw the trailer for this movie and was super excited. Seemed like a Supernatural monster horror type flick. But entire movie ended up being Act 1 of Godzilla where they track the Muto. Such a shame. So much potential and the best they could do is a military movie. Not to mention the main character was a complete dick. Hated her. Only the supporting characters made the movie tolerable.
