I actually saw this on late night TV back in the 80's! Felix Silla, the diminutive actor who played the Manitou "Misquamacus", also played Cousin Itt on the Addams Family, Lucifer on Battlestar Galactica, and Twiki on Buck Rogers!
I literally just watched Suspiria in the theater on Saturday. Yes, that is the music from Suspiria, heh. I think I'll listen to the soundtrack tomorrow. It's sooo good.
@@Chaingun Do you mean Goblin (the band that wrote the music)? Or is Ghoulies like the song title? By the way, thanks for replying to me. It reminded me that I'm going to listen to the soundtrack now! =P
Really liked the book when I was a kid (except for the ending, Masterton really sucks at endings). Was really excited when I discovered it was adapted into a movie and a bit disapointed by the result. So for those who liked the premise I'd recommend checking the books it was based on. Also is it me or hasn't Tommy Wiseau aged a bit since the 70s (although he did grow a little taller)?
I wish you'd also link to the original video that are in the archives. I like watching the actual scenes instead of stills. The only place you can get to the original videos is from your website.
I'm not sure. I think Suspiria came out the same year like this so that would be weird if they both have the same music. BTW, be on the look-out for the Suspiria remake, if you're a fan of the original.
Why is the Suspiria theme in there from 2:49. Did this movie just stole it? Or was it just edited in the video for dramatic effect. If so Did cineamssacre ever reviewed Suspiria. Its a big favourite of mine, and I would be interested, of what James thinks about it.
Me and my friend loved this.... Why no mention of the mantra: manitou, manitou kanna weechee salitou! In school we'd say it to each other and crack up. It's that kind of mumbo jumbo you remember as a kid. Ps. Does anyone remember what "but I sawww herrrr" comes from?
Remember watching this on VHS from the local video stall..it was bizarre & scary as fxxk when you’re 13.. But hey it was the 80’s & I thought I was cool getting hold of 18 rated flicks.. “Q the feathered serpent” Driller Killer Basket Case Cannibal Ferox SS Con Camp There was some vile films back in them days lol
Gotta ask now James, Why do you now use stills on the reviews i know these reviews use to be footage of the film Now it just Frames from those videos why ?
To avoid copywright strikes, even though the use of clips for review isn't a valid reason to earn a strike, that doesn't stop studios, or third party outfits, from doing so.
oh no another one of these comments.. just some music for while he talks.. the previous reviews featured the mummy 1932, day of the dead music among others.. this one also feature ghoulies music at the beginning
Beyond Useless Gaming. Yeah man. Misquamacus is a bad ass...better in the books. Like I said...it's just the last 10min that are like..." Where's the hot damn budget "?!
I watched this on Netflix ages ago, I think it might have been on streaming, has gotten expensive and hard to find last I checked. All I remember is the ending, very weird and pretty effective
Man what a weird movie. Me and a friend watched it for halloween a couple years ago and we didn't even really have words. It ended and we just sat in silence, occasionally saying, "well that was a thing."
The sad thing is that the writer of this original novel, Graham Masterton, is quite a good horror writer, so it's sort of sad that this disaster is pretty much the only way his work made it to film. I used to know someone who went to film school in Minnesota, and Tom Pope, one of the writers of this, was her arrogant dipshit professor, and he had a book called _Good Scripts, Bad Scripts_ and made them watch this garbage to show what an amazing screenwriter he is, lol.
You should really watch a movie called De Johnsons (1992). It's plenty weird but also pretty good and entertaining. Also, if you can find it, watch a spanish horror movie called 99.9 (1997).
Manitoe look like another creature with a bunch of scientists and an underground bunker later the creature rips its ears off and there's something to do with a rotting a apple , anyone know what that is ?

3:05 is that background music the Suspiria theme?
Yep! I love that theme, knew it from the second I could hear it
no love for Ghoulies? :(

review shocker.... about a serial killer who kills people through telephone wires and anything electrical....
that movie is awesome

@@PreKGam3r exactly, great film, and I love that cover also.

Ive read the book and the ending is different, from what I remember they where fighting the demon with a police computer, literaly :D
Manitou is one of my favorite cheesy, horror flicks. You should consider reviewing The Sentinel from 1977. It has a "who's who" cast for its time.
I only read the book but based on this review, the book makes a lot more sense to me.
This is one of my family cult classics, Shakma is right next to it. Nice to see being recognized by James.
This needs more views, shit was perfect after serving for 11 hours. Late night alone smoking a Blunt 😂👌🏽
I heard the Suspiria theme by Goblin. :)
