I feel like Axe mode is pretty lackluster compared to the benefits of staff. I'd say maybe make the bash available after heavies as well or make every combo heavy orange, idk
I think it's just a backup incase opponents keep guessing your staff moves (since it's extremely slow)

Honestly, thank frick whoever design the character didn't made Medjay staff/axe mode have supper different kits. I do hate the Vortex in Axe mode tho, lmao. It's weird he gets change guard on dodge, considering he doesn't have any special defensive moves

ive been only playing lawbringer since i started playing, rep 23 but i am thinking about switching to either medjay or centurion. It is crucial that i choose roght because ive spent all my money on lb customization and it takes a long time ti make money.
I only play 2v2 and dominion once in a blue moon.
I'd say go for medjay and then use him in breach to get some money quicker and to practice him. then have a field day with him in brawl, he's a fun time

Didn't they say it would take double the effort to make this character because of the two stances but that's just not true since it's the same chains and he just has 2 small movesets with each
Playing as him he is nothing, super bare bones. Just the basic combos and a useless bash for the most part. He isn’t complex at all, comparing him to someone like Warden he even seems very basic.
@@thedeusvultguy5346 literally what im saying its such bs for them to say it tokk double the efforts when its just the same chains that he has two of all his moves from both stances combined is probably somewhere around the same amount of moves as your average heroes

Nope. Jorm is guaranteed (not actually guaranteed by Ubi but it’s incredibly likely one day) to get a rework at some point, so there’s no use in me making a how 2 on them atm.

ok but can we talk about he's a merge of *at least* 7 different heroes' animations for most of his heavies? From what I saw, the animations are coming from the following heroes:
Warden, hitokiri, berserker, aramusha, Shaolin (I saw someone saying there are animations of shaman and shaolin too but idrk)
The only unique animation I saw is the throne room bash (a.k.a the one slapping the enemy with the staff and prevents revenge)
I really wish the Romans would get their own faction. They could have a Legionary with a spatha and scutum as vanguard, a Praetorian with a pila and scutum as their heavy, keep their centurion as hybrid and keep Gladiator as assassin to start out. They could easily add an Auxiliary with a simple Gladiolus and pugio as another assassin.

The Medjay were a real people from ancient Egypt. They were a nomadic tribe from the region called Medja, and they most certainly didn't wear the fancy clothes shown in this game, which are more suited for the palace guards and nobility.
And the movie The Mummy used a salad of words without actually referencing the real historical facts.
Hint! The historical Imhotep wasn't cursed nor buried alive, he was actually a highly respected ancient Egyptian medic and scientist, and he and the architect Amenhotep are the only non-royal citizens who were so respected that were deified upon their deaths, just like the pharaohs.

I like the medjay I do. But… I would’ve loved to see him a more… authentic version of a medjay in terms of ancient Egyptian warrior kit. I was thinking what if he had a spear and the large ancient Egyptian shield with that weird unique shape it has and to give him his unique weapon type switching feature give him a kopesh on his side as the switch? In the spear and shield mode he’d play like Valkyrie with the poking and stabbing range while having that conquerer defense and bash with the shield then when you wanna be more offensive and aggressive you switch to the kopesh and shield and the kopesh would have a let of aggressive disabling attacks for like aggressive tech moves and stuff. Just a thought, what do you guys think???

medjay needs less hyper armor
It's fun to swing hyper armor heavies I guess, but I already can do that much better with heroes like Hitokiri. Not sure really what this hero excels at
Imo he’s very good because his two stances are different enough to allow you to have a better chance at some matchups. Like for example with Orochi, one of his worst matchups is berserker. With medjay axe stance, he also can struggle with berserker but you can switch to his staff stance and perform so much better and trade with the hyper armor, also having more health than most heroes.
Mixing the two stances up in a fight is also good pressure and very unpredictable, helping you gain an advantage. He’s also a very uncommon hero so not a lot of people are familiar with a good medjay player, helping your unpredictability even more.
Just my observation playing him tho!
Tbh getting somewhat tired of goobisoft giving all the movement shit to new heros. A damaging bash, AND dodge attacks, Inf. Combos, etc. Medjay looks a lot better balanced than Pirate or Gryphon on launch tho. I wish that if they were going to continue adding all the trimmings to new heros, they would also give new shit to old heroes, like warden or Lawby. I could see Lawby getting like a hidden stance or something
Maybe I misunderstood what you said, but what do you mean that bashes in newer heroes correlate to movement shit?
Medjay's bash in Staff Stance that you mentioned is 900ms and reactable on every platform. Depending on MMR, its utility is exclusive to enabling ganks. I can't tell you what to do or think, but I hope you'll consider if your opinion on his moveset is based on negative early impressions. Maybe you'll see it in a new light.
On the topic of dodge attacks; out of 33 heroes currently in the game, only 4 of them (Centurion, Warlord, Black Prior and Jormungandr) don't have dodge attacks. Black Prior compensates for that with Bulwark Stance.
Not having a dodge attack single-handedly lowers a hero's viability, and it leaves you with less counter attack/defensive options in any given scenario. I think *most* dodge attacks are a healthy and dynamic addition to For Honor, though that's just my opinion.
If you read ALL of that and you're down, then don't hesitate to share any other input you might have. Maybe I'll gain a new perspective.

Staff bash is terrible for 1v1, very slow and very dodgeable
Axe bash is ok but the range is mediocre, doesnt track at all so also very dodgeable
Thats 2 out of 3 of his UBs, the Axes Heavy Finisher is decent but if ur 1st Heavy is blocked ( not even Parry ) than that plan is out of the window

@@roasty- first, kind of my fault for bad wording. I say "movement shit" in reference to the amount of utility moves a hero has, which I define as moves that aren't lights or heavies in an ending chain. Their are also utility modifiers, which are effects that can be added to a move.
Warden, for example, has two utility moves, shoulder bash and his forward dash heavy(roll catcher). He also has two utility modifiers, his crushing counter and ending heavy unblockables. Nobushi has 4 utility moves, that being her two dodge attacks(heavy and light), hidden stance, and her kick. She also has 2ish utility modifiers, that being undodgeable heavy finishers, and her bleed moves, which Is why I said 2ish, as they could be separated to inflate the number of utility modifiers/moves she has.
Pirate has 4 utility moves, her dodge attacks, dash attack, Walk the plank pinning move, and her bashes, which also cause damage. She also has a bunch of utility modifiers, her dash is an unblockable from neutral and has hyper armor, she has two unblockable pinning moves(WtP and her whiff pistol bash), hyper armor on her heavy finishers and undodgeable on her light finishers, and on top of that she has recovery cancels.
Medjay does look more balanced than Pirate, mostly because of the geriatric bash in staff mode, but my main complaint is that I'm getting tired of seeing all neat moves that help in mixups be relegated to new heros while older heros retain an archaic moveset. Lawby has 1 utility move and 1 utility modifier, his bash and unblockable heavy finishers. It's just a complaint I have with how Goobisoft is implementing heroes.

Actually its even worst. Its possibly not even a weapon but a misinterpreted depiction of a fan in egiptian paintings.
I mean, its still a really cool weapon, but I find it funny that the egyptian hero could literally be wielding a completely fantasy weapon...to be fair, hito and jorm are a thing sooo...

This game was never meant to be historical, dude. It's a big stupid medieval fantasy mashup by design.
