"One of my subscribers mentioned this piece of music to me last week, and when I heard a performance by violinist Lucia Micarelli and trumpet player Chris Botti I immediately fell in love with the music. So, this isn't as much an "arrangement" like I usually post, but it's more like an expansion on the standard sheet music, playing from the melody line, the piano line, and also adding in texture by reading the chord changes above. I bought the basic sheet music and also filmed the video in the same morning, so I hope you like this very impromtu version of a great piece of music!
Composer, Michel Colombier, wrote this piece in memory of his son, Emmanuel, who died in his infancy.

Wow, simply beautiful! Never heard of this song before until I read the description. The expressiveness by which you play this piece paints the sorrow and mix of emotions that I'd imagine the original composer wanted to convey. My favorite part is when you do the runs at 2:40 as the piece crescendos and climaxes until the resolution at the end. The piano sound you have is so on point, especially those upper notes where you can hear the soft attack of each note, where it sounds so rich. Love the camera angles and lighting too!

@@CharlesSzczepanek Upon relistening, the noise of the hammers feel so intimate. I think this is my favourite audio mixing of yours yet (possibly because the slower piece makes the acoustics more obvious). Also the thumbnail was very attention-grabbing-you might be onto something with the new cam angles. ;) I’m curious the technique @2:41...I lost track after the first f- run down and up from C; very useful during improv!
@@WSJade Thanks! The mix turned out pretty well! It's a little on the dark/muddy side compared to some of my personal favorites, but I left it that way because it felt too bright otherwise. That run is... well... in my mind just f minor haha. I did a few takes that morning and the each one had a different build into that section, the only commonality was the harmony!

Hi Amanda! I improv'd this, so unfortunately no, there isn't any sheet music. I'm sorry!
Are you going to publish an arrangement? If it was impromptu, Chopin had difficulty writing down his improvisations too, but he managed to do it.
Mostly likely not. It's not 'difficult' as much as time consuming to notate every note and rhythm exactly how it appears on the recording. This is a great piece, but a part of the purpose of 'improv-ing' it was to save time on my end so I can get the next 3 of my arrangements recorded. I also really enjoy my improv "style," which I would never put down on paper if the writing aspect came first. Perhaps that friend of yours might transcribe this at some point!
@@CharlesSzczepanek He could do it, but it would be quite expensive. I think this is one of your best posts. I can understand that is a lot of work for you. Can your MP8 tansmit MIDI which can then be transcribed to sheet music?
@@JoeLinux2000 More than the $100-$200 we talked about? MIDI from a keyboard is always a mess on sheet music. It can be an 'aid' to transcribing, but it really needs to be done by ear.
@@CharlesSzczepanek I have no idea about how these people who do it, manage to get it done. It's amazing, and my ear is unfortunately not good enough. I have to work with good arrangements from the outset.
This remains one of your very best efforts. You should do us a favor, and publish it. It just might be your best seller.
I’m still considering it! One company quoted about $200 to do the transcription and claimed they could get it note-for-note perfect on paper. So maybe!
