Question of the Day ⚡What was your biggest takeaway from this episode? Let us know! 👇*** Learn the one UA-cam strategy that gets me 122,490 views PER DAY ➡ ThinkMasterclass.com
That's the Age Old Question isn't it Sean? People have been asking Quality or Quantity For Decades probably ever since The Invention of Sales. and to Answer your Question first Build your Muscles with Quantity to move into Quality. Then go Whole Hog.
phase 1 BABY!!!!!!
This was very valuable info. I'm somewhere between stage 1 and 2.
I think a big factor is whether your channel aims for search based views or suggested based views. If search based, then quantity is probably more important. If suggested based, then quality is probably the best way to go
This is a great point!
In my niche, the creators who focus on quantity have FAR more views than the creators who focus on quality.
Same
Same, sadly
For example?
Views on shortform without affiliate linking is just exposure. If they’re getting views on long form, then they’re crushing it… focus on driving long form content
As a new channel, I’ve been getting between 50 and 100 views on average. Is anybody able to give me tips on editing style while trying to produce a decent quantity to promote impressions?
With 125,000 subscribers and building a community of beekeepers, quantity made ALL the difference in my niche for the growth of my channel. My viewers enjoy hearing from me daily or every other day. Quality is not as important to my audience. Been on UA-cam since 2008 and have experimented with this for 15 years and Quantity works best for me.
I think your videos are most likely great in quality. I think people conflate highly edited videos with quality videos. If you have enriching information in your videos with a great personality, it is objectively quality content. 👌
Amazing as always. As an artist and speaker I upload content to UA-cam but haven’t drilled in on it as a business option and outlet, but I’ve been feeling the tug to do more “talking direct to my people” vids about value, forgiveness and purpose, my core message. I’d say I’m in phase one still, so this is great encouragement to get it to 80% and just post it. Thank you Sean
Sean--my biggest takeaway reinforced my intuitive thought to upload as much content as possible as quickly as possible, although I hadn't thought about it in terms of quality vs quantity. This has been so helpful since I've been focused on doing both which is slowing me down in the quantity goal. As always, thanks for insightful and useful information. 👍
Striking the right balance between quality and quantity is definitely a challenge. Thank you for sharing this topic!
I've found both is best. Make as many quality videos as often as possible. I have posted daily for years.
Wow, that's awesome. How do you manage it? Does this mean you enjoy making them?
I’m a quantity guy. Paid off in July when a shorts video went viral and got 2.5M views which lead to 5000 new subscribers
And what revenue did these subscribers generate?
I'd say both are important
I think the tldr:
Quantity = Practice
10,000hrs of quality practice will refine your skill.
Once you’ve gotten that practice then you’re able to get quality videos done on a professional level and timing.
(as in first offline of a 23min episode in 1 day)
I am getting closer to 1000 subscribers - I cant describe the feeling of what this means to me - I appreciate you Sean as you've helped me gain some confidence in this for greater impacts of messages shared. Thank you!!
I have just started my YT Channel and uploaded my first video last week. I am in the quantity phase at the moment. Thanks Sean for the timeless information.
Hey Brother Sean as for me I am a fairly new Creator. I first started 3 years ago all thanks to watching Think Media Videos but then I started making videos for a Christian TV Channel. Now starting to make videos for my channel and going to focus on growing our Channel. For me right now I am in the middle. I need to increase the quantity and keep some quality and keep improving with each video. I wish everyone good luck in their channels 🙏
I am still in phase one but keep on working on quality and quantity at the same time. Thanks for this video and information Sean (who definitely has had too much coffee 😆). The video is appreciated.
I don’t think I ever want to get to phase 3. I just decided to go into phase 2. I enjoy doing UA-cam by myself.
QUALITY + QUANTITY- BOTH ARE REQUIRED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL
I think GaryVee was the first one who was saying the same thing - quantity is what you need to focus on first as once you are posting once a week you are building NOTHING.(c). But as I noticed on my channel that does not actually work as the videos which give value to the audience get views (once people comment under the video) and the one which is more educational does not get views.
Mighty hugs for this wonderful sharing🤗💜 this is indeed an interesting question. Sometimes too much quantity does not equate quality, but at the same time practice would make better quality💪💪
Precious Thumbnail of this video couldn't understand but this new thumbnail get me to understand what is video about 👍
Great podcast as always! 🙌 We are in phase 2, we have to find a way to produce more content.
I started immediately with quality thanks to my background as a videomaker, but I still try to improve with each video 🎬
good principles quality is varied 4K smart phone 6.9k hybrid camera - 8K red camera (Komodo etc) Quality is like the Towering Inferno. quantity is like airport, airport 75, airport 77, and airport 79 working on regularity 1 a month say, very informative content.
Small town PNW people have to stick together. Whidbey Island here, keep crushing Sean - appreciate you and the Think Media team
South of you by the Puget Sound, south of Normandy Park. 👋
I'm definitely in phase 2 rn, like just starting phase 2. This may be my longest phase, but it's really going to bring out my best principles and values.
This is always helpful. I waffle back and forth on this. After about 50-60 videos on my channel, I realized that my engagement rates weren't where I wanted them to be. So, I've taken about a month off to re-evaluate my process and do a better job with my scripting and storytelling process. Essentially, I'm focusing on an aspect of my quality for a few weeks to get better in a particular area. Is it too soon to focus on quality?
Love your content Sean! We all should Baby step to better everyday knowing that being the best is unachievable. KEEP GOING!
This debate is the never ending one on UA-cam. 😊
The audience has helped me tremendously in the comments section, as far as filming and editing perspective.
At around 125 videos, I got one to pop off to get me half way to monetization. Work on quality while continuing quantity. It honestly really does work😉
Phase 1-trying to get to Phase 2…Thank you for the valuable information! 💕
I'd say both quantity and quality matter in my niche, which is recording footage of classic video games. Sticking to non-popular games, or games that aren't Final Fantasy VII, Grand Theft Auto III, Call of Duty, The Witcher or Fortnite, are the way to go, as it will drum up interest from the viewers.
In my niche, the focus is definitely more on the content/information itself. Production value is low but I’m still able to pull in views and retention if I prioritze on time to market
I can't help it Sean you look like a model, your eyes are mirror of your soul ,God bless you always, keep up amazing original creation!
I'm in phase 1 but am learning intentionally to get to phase 2.
Good infos really helped thanks✨❤️
I’m struggling, even though I have over 14K subs. The quality of my videos are poor and I’m not sure if I’m happy with my content. I’ve been experimenting with different strategies, but still haven’t “figured it out”. But I’m not going to stop.
Your channel could benefit from designing the thumbnail first, then title, then video. Who is your ideal audience avatar?
Thank you for your guidance video ❤
Thank you Sean!I am nearly ready for the stage two(quality one)!
Good video man- Your my go to guy now!
Thanks so much Sean for taking the time to share with us this very important question. If I had to chose between either one of of the two questions the answer would definitely be quantity over quality for me absolutely! no doubt because of the learning process as you explained. It takes a lot of hard work and time to make sure that some one likes the content that you've created. I still Love the old saying," practice makes perfect" so that I can become better at what I Love to do. Thanks again for sharing.
Short form might let you catch a wave here and there but long form (quality) will keep you in the game for more than one season. Make the most of trends but stick to your core niche and audience. All the best!
I started from 0 without any backing at all ^^ I could not even edit a video then.
Now 3,5 years in I feel like I am confident now :)
THANK YOU FOR GIVING THIS AMAZING CONTENT FREE TO US!
I think I need to focus on quantity. I have a hodgepodge of 54 longs and shorts over the years that have no continuity. A lot of them have no editing either. I haven’t posted a new video in over a year. I need consistent quantity, a video each week and then start to make it better,..then scale to more than one a week. :)
So if I am a gaming channel, should I post multiple games as I would be in "phase 1" or does that mean I have to pick a gaming niche and then post that in quantity?
Thank you very much.🌼
Grateful for this content! I’m in the quantity and learning skills phase right now! I’m finding the more that I make videos I get to learn more about myself and what my target audience is looking for!
This is so valuable and gives me confidence that I should continue to pump out videos as conssitently I can even if they are not of the best quality as im in "phase 1"
As someone who has just made their first 20 videos I can absolutely agree if you have never made one before, by the time you make twenty you’ll want to delete your first ten or more just for how much better you can improve them.
I agree I almost deleted all my videos but I went on UA-cam and asked a question should I delete my videos and the answer is definitely no. You and I are in the same place right now.
Is phase 3 only for the full timer? When do you consider phase 2 starting? As soon as you hit monitization?
Thank you so much. Help me a lot.
I'm in phase .50
But I am ready to take massive, very messy action.
Shoutout to the local Washington Cities you mentioned 👊🏻💥👊🏻
I have had such trouble trying to figure out what to talk about. So now I practice on TikTok. Because no one takes them seriously! So I guess I’m at stage 1😊
I know livestreamers that are crushing it on tiktok, they might not be taken serious but theres people making some real cash
Good info!
Phase 1 I have uploaded some pretty bad videos, however this last we were snowed in. I spent some time on my studio I rearranged the lighting hooked up my condenser mic to my phone through Scarlet focus right. And I worked on my positioning on the camera for a week And I purchased a couple new lights etc. I feel like my next video is going to be much better than the last videos but I have to focus on quantity.
great advise
Sean, as a small / new gaming channel in a crowded niche I’m trying to focus on community and comedy through gameplay. My question is, should I focus on the quantity or the quality. I’ve produced a number of videos and typically get between 50 and 100 views. I’d like to increase those numbers and I’m trying new strategies with my editing style. What I’ve found is I’m struggling with the balancing the 2 facets while also increasing views.
Coincidence. This video popped up on my feed right as I was reviewing similar advice from another UA-camr! A few years in, and I’m still in Phase One. I think I’m getting near Phase Two. We’ll see how things go over the next year or so.
This is very helpful
loved the episode .........
The answer is Yes right? 😊videos should provide value for target viewer with a base level of quality and always learning along the way
Did he say over 300 pieces of content a day or did he mean a week?!
He said 350 pieces of content per week. Which, I assume is across all platforms... but that’s certainly a crazy amount of content!
@@getthewordouttodayok thanks that makes more sense lol
@@BStride lol. You're welcome!
A week!
Yup that’s right!
Phase 111111 but I'm stuck with moving out so I can't even film and build momentum now. It sucks but I hope soon I will get out of that situation. Phase 0 is : get your environment right to keep going
Superb
Sean, Sony ECM B1M or ECM M1? I need your help! Mostly do outdoor video!
So, I've been doing the math. One solid Quality video takes me roughly 20 hours of planning, traveling, filming, editing, and uploading. Which may or may not do well. There's been quality videos that took off while other quality videos that flopped. If it does well, then it will make on average 4k-10k views.
Which generates me on a good video that's high production and high retention, $50 for that one video that took 20 hours to make. Roughly making $2.50/hour.
Meanwhile simple math tells me if i do 10x the videos in a fraction of the time but will get a fraction of the views......i will still generate the same amount of monthly ad revinue. The only difference is if a "crappy" video takes off with a good title and thumbnail, then great. If it doesn't, then i only wasted 30 mins to an hour on a video that flopped. Not 20 hours for one video.
Having priorities in life such as a wife and children, and job etc....really almost forces quantity over quality. Finding a balance between the two is important, but quality doesnt always mean production value either. Quantity can give you the same rewards with less risk and when the risk opens up more time, then focus on quality.
Good podcast. The answer is always, “it depends!” And, it also depends on how one defines “quality.” Too many people only consider “quality” to be production value rather than the value to the content and presentation, which is a big part or the problem when discussing the topic. There are way too many cookie cutter answers out there for this and other questions that really depend on the goal of the business, the niche that they are in, the style of content that they produce, and the resources that are available. But it’s a lot easier for people to just receive a cookie cutter answer and not have to think and strategize on their own.
I did not know that Think Media posted 350 pieces of content per week! Wow!! I guess that’s across all platforms, but that’s still a crazy amount of content!
its Quantity nobody cares about Quality nomore u work hard on a video and make it super Quality and it dont do good but Quantity videos add up and make more money
Phase 2 now.
Quality Quantity, but not when they use suppression censor Algos.
Quantity for shorts video
Quality for normal video (lanscape)
What if you reached stage 3 too quick but not enough to get a team??
can you make decent money doing vlog style?
Still at phase one🙃
Phase two I guess
❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's funny, I legit was just asking myself this
PHASE 1
LMAO! "There is no answer to this 1 question." Yes there is! And it's very easy to answer. UA-cam is all about *QUANTITY.* That's what I hate most about it. I see some UA-camrs making the same video they just released a few weeks ago because they are running out of topics to talk about. They have to keep pumping out the videos constantly so the stupid algorithm will push their videos. I can't get into UA-cam because of this.
Phase 1.5 lol close to 2- and soon 3
Sean we listen to you even if you dont “talk with your hands”. Those parasite hands movements say nothing. Unless u make a significant gesture, the rest os unnecesary
Bro this Utube thing is a conspiracy. I visited a channel today the guy had 6 videos on his channel and over 300 subscribers. The videos were not awesome or special. I have over 200 hundred videos some of my videos have almost 20,000 views and I have barely over 300 subscribers what's up?
In phase 2. Enjoy it much more than uploading mediocre.
I accidentally found a great niche for my girlfriend by urging her to just upload a simple exercise video and stop thinking so much.
It started with slightly creepy subs, but as she genuinely learned the niche, the quality AND quantity boosted.
Just upload and upload and give yourself grace and enjoy the almost certainty that the first 50 videos are bad - it’s NORMAL
💕💕🙏🙏💕💕
This is 𝙒𝙄𝙇𝘿! Thanks for this breakdown.
