Look at this way: if you're doing something, you're actually thinking and working out some idea. Even if it's not great, it's more than thinking about doing something. Quantity is another way of emphasizing taking action. Quality is just stalling.
I have thought of three approaches: Quantity over Quality - for learning, practicing and improving skills - deadlines might be good for this one - this compromises quality for a while Quality over Quantity - using all the skills you got to create masterpieces - masterpieces takes time to make, deadline might steal the needed time away - this compromises learning for a while Quality over Quantity 2 - learn, improve and practice while also creating masterpieces - hard in the begging - takes a lot of time and critical thinking - it gets easier over time to create more masterpieces because you're being shaped to the difficulty You don't have to stick to one approach forever. This is an everytime choice. Do you want to improve your skills? or make a masterpiece with all the skills you got?
Love your videos! Definitely something to be said about the importance of quantity! Since I started posting videos everyday I've seen a huge amount of growth and leveling up in skills.
The quality of this video and message was perfect. I’ve been making the quality excuse for far, far too long. Stepping down from my rickety high horse now.
This channel deserves tons of views! Great videos in a short, compact format with clear as water narration & animation + SOURCES. Amazing. Best of luck!
This is awesome. I think about the book The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. It’s all about battling resistance. You have to continue to show up and do the work. Eventually, great things start to happen and you get better and better. Let’s go!
The funny thing for me is the quote from Ray Bradbury. I am currently writing one short story every week for this year. Once I reach 50 stories I plan to sell them as a book.
2:46 In my opinion, this is where it's gets a bit of biased. It sounds like we're attaching quality to negative things such as "perfectionism", "high expectations" or "failure mindset" , and these negative things doesn't result to high quality, it results to low quality and quantity.
To be honest, I uploaded more than 3,300 videos on UA-cam, no matter what quality it is and its a great sign that I am getting more and more views everday. All is thanks for what I'm doing in UA-cam :) As someone says, "You don't need to take things seriously in order to be a successful. Just keep up what you are doing."
Exactly what Seth Godin's new book, The Practice, also addresses. It takes skill and skill can only be attained when you practice. Great video nonetheless. 💜
Have you ever read Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World? I think you would learn a lot from it. Also, could you do a bts video? I really want to know how you make your videos?
There's conflicting research on this. There is a camp that believes that practice doesn't make perfect but it makes permanent; meaning if you're practicing with bad habits, those bad habits become permanent and difficult to unlearn.
That's what the AI such as alphago zero do. Play in quantity against itself than quality (data from human games) The chess software created without using data from human games, and stronger than any previous version. By playing games against itself, AlphaGo Zero surpassed the strength of AlphaGo Lee in three days by winning 100 games to 0, reached the level of AlphaGo Master in 21 days, and exceeded all the old versions in 40 days. whatever helps you sleep at night. you know what it doesnt help? finding the right video in a sea of useless crap being uploaded by people clawing and begging not to be left behind.
I disagree with this, I would rather make 1 video that everyone will watch because of quality, then 10000 videos no one will watch because of bad quality.
The point is you can’t make 1 video that everyone will watch without making a tonne of videos that no one will watch first. You need to produce quantity in order to understand what “quality” is
You can rather do this... Shoot 10000 videos and post the one with top notch quality . You will have a perfection and no one will ever know you made 9999 videos before it.
Oh ya , then how do you explain players how play league of legends for 7 years and are still silver , and those how play for 4 years for example and are the highest tier (challenger ) top 200 best players on the region .
For the same reason the handwriting of most people suck. You won't improve unless you actively try to. That means admitting and correcting what you are doing wrong rather than just putting all the blame on the rest of your team, something most LoL players seem incapable of doing.

This is so true when learning languages. Many worry about how to study effectively but doing it a lot even in the least effective way works better.
Yes, especially with learning new languages!
Yup, been there.
Oh man this video was for me. I want things done so perfectly that I don't get them done at all most times. Thank you truly

"Quality is just stalling" I like that
Hmm, i don't remember Stalin being that quality of a man...

Quantity & quality should be *perfectly balance as all things should be.*
The quality of this video and message was perfect. I’ve been making the quality excuse for far, far too long. Stepping down from my rickety high horse now.

@@TheArtofImprovement you don't get views because your Thumbnails suck
Kurzgesagt: And I took that personally
Wow this video just hit the nail on the coffin for me and my current mindset...thank you

You mean get a book deal?
Perfection leads to procrastination hits home hard. Excellent video.
Needed this recently, thanks so much
I literally needed this, *looks at date,* 7 years ago. So much time wasted, I’m glad to finally have this even if it seems so obvious
The 100-10-1 principle is life changing!!
Another awesome video man! You never fail to open my eyes even to the oldest of concepts🔥
Thank you bro!!!
I think humans are meant to learn through iteration. The more we put out the more we can improve upon on our previous work
So true - practice is the quantity that leads to quality. Great video!
The world has changed from quality to quantity, and so have we.
*Quality over quantity.* ❌ *Quantity **_leads_** to quality.* ✅
More quantity there is, higher the chances of quality!
This video was what I needed to hear, it's a true gem, thanks man!
Glad to hear it!

Needed to hear this
Nice video. The 100 - 10 - 1 principle is such a great concept! Thanks again for the nice material you share with us. I appreciate your work. :)
My pleasure
Its always start with quantity. Till you find the solution/product then focus on quality.
I am finally the first to comment on one of these outstanding videos! Thank you for your contributions...
Quality is a probabilistic function of Quantity
Just what everyone should be to told! Nicely done
Quality is the priority, quantity is just the result of the process that reaches it.
One of your best videos
Yes in this context, quantity is more important but not in the context of building something that needs high quality that needs craftsmanship.
Great motivational video, thank you indeed!
Amazing video, keep going! 👏👏
More people please. Cars are still too big!
(Quantity of life over Quality of life - Everyone, turn your thermostat down to 55F)

This is motivating 👍
Excellent mindset to inhabit. I needed this, thanks!
Much wisdom in this video.
Depends on the situation to be honest.
Allies always beat Axis

Quantity is what _breeds_ quality🤑
*The higher the quantity, the higher the chances of quality.*
This channel is so fuckin amazing
1000 true fans are more than enough. Quality> Quantity
Isn't 1000 is quantity, 1 can be quality
You beauty. I clicked on this almost too fast
Relative and riddled with caveats.
I need create more artworks to get higher quality works. I need more tools to create more types of artworks.

Ducm Thomas Edison you should talk about telsa
Quantity trumps quality. Quantity should be a higher priority than quali- ty, because it leads to higher quality. The shorter path to maximized.
Sorry but Edison was a businessman, he just hired the right people and did the work for him, then he just took the credit. Tesla to mention someone
We import many tons of cheap plastic crud every day. It’s still crud....
