- Had to replace the badly leaking First Gen Dodge intercooler, so I upgraded to a 7.3 Powerstroke intercooler for more flow capability. Also changed up the look of the truck while I was at it.

Nice trock
A real truck !!!
Full floating rear end !
I love 78 Ranger body, hood, interior, grill !!!
DAMN NICE !!
4 door pickups are da bomb ! Love it.
Badass truck, looks way better with that grill too
I agree the earlier grill is more to my liking as well, awesome job on the intercooler.
Thank man. It's a work in progress, lots more to do.
Such a nice set up I'm bad about getting old trucks and just driving them till they fall apart but if I had a crew cab setup like urs id figure a way to get myself buried in it, keep these vids coming!
Nice! I have a '78 Bronco with '91 Cummins power. I'm currently doing the same 7.3 intercooler as you, I like those lower mounts you made, I am stealing that idea, thanks!
I am also rebuilding my H1C turbo and upgrading to a 60mm housing and wheel, should be interesting, since my fuel is maxed and I have a denny T fuel pin, also putting in a 4000 rpm gov. spring( I put in 60# valve springs already) so I should be ready to rock soon. It made 32psi before the current upgrades, I'm thinking I might be closer to 40 or more when it's done.(Have ARP head studs already, too) Thanks for the video!
AmericanThunder sounds like a good time! My pump is still bone stock bedsides a Denny T fuel pin. Someday I’ll do some work to it but it’s fine for now. Trying to make it reliable before I try to make it fast.
awesome rig dude!
Change that turbo to a Bell turbo out of Corvallis Oregon, Runs about 38lbs of boost and turn that thing into a hauling machine. Nice job, I have a 78 f250 with a twelve valve runs awesome 454 hp to the ground. I love my truck. Rock on!!!
Power will come later. Pump is still completely stock at this point, focusing on fixing little stuff and making it reliable and more comfortable at this point.
That's my dream truck nicely done🤘
Very nice clean job.
This vid is going to help a lot when i go to do mine
Great video man! Subscribed!
Thanks man. Just figuring this stuff out.
Jory Anderson is
We differ on front ends. 78 & 79 are my favorite.
sokodad At first I didn’t like it, but it’s become my favorite style of front end, I also like the 1970-72 style, but the 78-79 is my favorite
sokodad Dont know what it is but I love the round headlights way more than the Square.
nice truck if you don't want the passenger side turn signal i need one.
This is great bud. I have a 78 crew cab short box and am very tempted to put a 24 valve in it because I have two of them laying around. Whats your number one advice? I would guess get ready for some work?
I think that's an F-350 because it's a crewcab long bed. The crewcab short beds are F-250s.
SHOULD I PUT A 4BT CUMMINS IN A 78 F250? AND HOW HARD IS IT TO ACTUALLY INSTALL A 4BT?
DO YOU KNOW ANY FORUMS THAT I CAN JOIN TALKING ABOUT 78 F250'S?
Should you? That's entirely up to you. The process is almost the same as a 6bt. There are some good facebook groups, like Fummins Tech that cover the swaps pretty thoroughly.
Exact trick I want
Tread direction is backwards on the left rear lol
Lol dam bruh..good eyes lol
Turn fuel screw up it'll make around 30 psi and runs wayyyyyy better
Beautiful! What size lift and tires?
Not entirely sure on the amount of lift, somewhere around 4-6". Tires are 37"x12.5" Goodyears on 16.5x9.75" wheels.
Thanks for the fast reply! I think this is the look I want for my 78 F350 extended cab long bed.
Is it for sale and if so how much is it.
Are those 16.5 old school wheels?, or does someone still make those wheels
Yes, they are old 16.5 wheels that I had refinished and polished. American Racing makes a 17" wheel similar to these old slot wheels but they don't have the offset like the old ones.
what are you running for front springs? and crossover steering? thank you
Front springs are lift springs from a Super Duty. Steering is all custom fab using a bolt-on high steering arm for the D60, DOM tubing with weld-in bungs and Chevy tie rod ends.
Nowhere Garage ok cool, I got the same truck 12v with stock springs and stock steering but wanna convert it to crossover steering.
You will need to lift it at least 4" to clear crossover steering.
Nowhere Garage alright how do your spring hold up to the weight of the cummins? is that why you got newer super duty springs? and one more question. did you have to change and thing with the spring perches or the hangers in the front?
thank you for the help
Sorry for the slow reply. The Super Duty springs support the weight quite well, in fact they are a bit stiff. But keep in mind, a diesel Super Duty weighs quite a bit more than my truck, even with the Cummins. In order to use the SD springs on these trucks, you will need to drill out the stock front spring hangers because the SD springs use a slightly larger metric bolt. The SD springs are also 1" longer overall, so you will need slight longer shackles. Other than that, they are a direct swap.
Is this truck for sale if so how much do you what for it.
Not for sale. I'm keeping this one forever.
So does adding a crew cab extend the truck? Or can I add a crew cab and keep the same overall length as it was in regular?
Depends on the length of bed you want. I have seen guys use a regular cab longbed frame and cut the bed down so the cab fits. If you want to use a long bed or even a standard shortbed, the frame must be extended. My frame started as 2 supercab frames that were spliced under the cab to get the correct length.
Is it for sale??? If so what is the price?
No, it took me a long time to find it, and I don't plan to ever sell it.
OK
I hear ya, I found a 1976 factory highboy with a 5.9L Cummins Diesel, 3.73 rear end Ext Cab not 4 doors, 4x4 with AC runs like a charm drove it back straight across country to Michigan. I am looking for another one to have two on the property up north - No computer, no GPS, no bullshit just good ole fashion mechanical workings. The kids never saw a stick or clutch or roll up hand crank windows. Everyone I see at gas stations always comments on it. Enjoy it it looks great!
Don't want to start a debate, but Ford never built a "highboy" extended cab. The highboy trucks were F250s up to 77.5, but you couldn't get an extended cab 4x4 until 78 and 79. If it's truly a 76 Supercab (extended cab), then it started out as a 2wd. If it started out as a 4wd, then it's a 78 or 79. Either way, it sounds like someone pieced it together. I love these old Fords, and I've owned around 10 of them previously.
You are correct it started out as a 1976 2WD high boy.
Then an F350 frame was added and it was converted from an automatic gas engine to a NV4500 5 speed stick and 4 wheel drive with the Cummins swap and.The guy dumped a lot of money into the project and I snapped it up for $6,000. Then i did the 38gal rear tank conversion, added a heavy duty starter motor and had the cummins dealer return the engine to factory tolerances. I get about 22mpg on highway at 60-65 mph with amazing range.
I will have to service the transfer case and one front seal that is leaking.
Q When in 4 wheel drive everything is quiet while accelerating but if i let upon the gas and coast or slow down itmake a loud noise where it almost sounds like a vibration.??? Any ideas??
Rick
"UMM"?
I'm trying to consciously not do that. But it's hard. And I know it's annoying.
