Waiting for mine to clear UK customs where it has currently vanished :P This is my first AEG after previously only sniping and using a heavily upgraded AAP-01 for CQB. I got it precisely because it is so noob friendly as you mentioned :) Videos like this are super helpful so really appreciate you making this. Thanks!
It's interesting that you ordered overseas, annoyingly Nuprol is the sole supplier for G&G in the UK and I can think of only 2 retailers that seemingly snatch up all their stock.
@@SabreAirsoftUK Yeh I got it from Redwolf not realising there would be import fees. Noob mistake but I didn't lose much fortunately. Absolutely love the gun! Can't wait to try it out on Sunday :D Where do you play?
So for where I typically play, it's one of two sites in South Wales: Dragonfire Airsoft: The Outpost (I'm here the most) Revolution Airsoft Both fantastic sites run by brilliant people, I'm at one or the other practically every weekend. As for what change extending the barrel has had, the site owner of the outpost describes it as disgusting range. Though it's worth noting I also changed the spring, cylinder, bucking and nub. All of which are contributing to the increased range and accuracy. I just recently got myself an insta360 x3 so I'll hopefully be able to get some footage from the sites after new years.
This video came just in time for me! My new G&G TR80 DMR will be delivered tomorrow and I was wondering what spring upgrade it can handle (since the SGR 556 and TR80 both have the G3 split gearbox). The tech at my home site I've been talking to has a Guarder SP-130 in stock but recommended I start by improving compression before upgrading the spring. From speaking with others online and from this video, it seems the rifle has pretty good compression out of the box. He also mentioned that most stock guns don't have a motor or gears that can reliably handle an M130, but the TR80 has an ifrit 25k motor that, according to Evike, can easily handle an M130 spring. The only things I'm not sure of now are the gears, and also I've heard on Reddit that the tappet plate can break. Please keep us updated on how it runs, especially with a stronger spring like an M130. Thank you!
I've actually had a TR80 open before interestingly enough, there's 2 body pins at the rear not just one so something to note. The motor should be able to handle an M140 fine but I'll try one out in mine for you after xmas (schedule is a bit whack the next few weeks). Something else to note about the TR80 is because it lacks a full auto feature you MAY experience lockup though I'm fairly certain that was due to user error on the the owners part but I wasn't there so can't say for certain. I find it odd that the TR80 retails for about £50 less than the SGR556. Also yes, ALWAYS sort compression before you look at power.
Thanks for the upload. hoping for more updates on your SGR in the future :). I think my 556 might be a bit of a lemon... I'm struggling to get a body size grouping at 40 meters plus. BBs are all over the show. I have tried the stock bucking and also a Modify flat hop. I might have to try a new barrel with a maple leaf. I have also used some tape to try and get the inner barrel to sit in the silver "outer" barrel without wobbling... but also doesn't seem to help. one bb will go flying over the target, the next will land a meter short. very odd as the gearbox sounds solid, motor sounds solid. also... random question but does your SGR make any sounds from the mosfet when you plug your battery in? mine doesnt make any sounds when I plug it in, it however does make the beeps needed when I do setting changes
I would use a 4uantum bucking and nub (that's what I use) and a tight bore barrel, I specifically used a 6.0 XT tight bore in this build. As for play between the two parts, I've not experience that myself though I would suggest using small thin o-rings over tape as it will provide a more even pressure, though really you shouldn't need that. 330mm is the barrel length as stock. I would also check that the outer barrel is nice and firmly on there, with how tight the indexing lugs are to the upper receiver it's unlikely that it's loose but it might be slightly off centre.
@ thanks for all the tips 👌👌, I think I’ll definitely try another bucking and go with the one you suggested. If that doesn’t improve things much I’ll try another barrel. Also, I need to get a chrono to see how much consistency I’m getting as there is a change that my piston head might not be giving me good compression. But will do that last as I still have warranty on it. I’m based in SA and it’s such a mission to get aftermarket buckings over here. Will hopefully be able to find the one you suggested. Have a great festive season and thanks again for the uploads you do

@@ktm690endurorally Don't ever worry about pestering me with questions it's all good :) No, it doesn't make any beeps when plugging in that's normal. The only beeps you should ever hear are the settings beeps and a repeating beep when low voltage / current is detected from the battery meaning it's time to swap. If you've not encountered that last one, lucky! I have a few times often just as I get into an engagement lmao
@@SabreAirsoftUK :) awesome, thank you very much! very appreciated. I can imagine murphy will make sure you run out of battery once you need it the most 🤣
I tried to install a Warhead into mine, the ETU doesn't play nice tho :/ Swapping the Pistonhead and Cylinder mine reaches 1.75 Joule with .32 and an M120. I'm trying to get to just under 2 Joules. I hope the M130 gets me there. My real wish for the G3 Gearbox Platform is an ETU upgrade. A Brushless motor would make it perfect, and I don't mean for rps but rather for the power efficiency and longevity.
I had heard that the ETU doesn't play well with Warheads, I might try and pick up a solink to see if that plays nice at all though that's a next year job I think. If I get time I'll try using some .32s with the M120, what cylinder did you use?
it is indeed! the only proprietary parts I've found thus far is the hop unit, cylinder head and nozzle. so far as I know the gears are standard as is the motor though I've heard that it won't take brushless motors.
@@riverderci169 it's a real shame, in the UK your only options would be to cut down an aftermarket one and get a nozzle custom made which will likely set you back about £30 or so
@@SabreAirsoftUK im in the US and honestly $30 might be worth it considering a nozzle should last you years of usability. Thank you for doing this. I also have a sgr556 and was considering upgrading the barrel, cylinder, piston head etc

I head the solink works but I haven't got one to test it yet
not sure why people have issues pairing the remote, we got one and it was a breeze.
It still took less than 10 minutes but it definitely wasn't playing ball at first
