I have probably seen them play this song live 50 times. I always try to find the moment when Cody switches from mandolin to fiddle but I never notice. I always get so swept up in the narrative of the song that I miss that second, his transition is so smooth.
These guys really have a handle on this song. Nothing beats RT's guitar playing but this singer's tone and phrasing are excellent and dare I say it, better than the original.
Being an RT fan for close to 40 years I love listening to versions of his songs thst are done well. And yes I love this version because the band look like they are enjoying themselves and for me that is what it is all about. Great song that still makes me smile when you shouldn't really.

They are definitely from Idaho. But the relocated to New Braunfels Texas close to 10 years ago as did most of the Red Dirt musicians from Oklahoma (Cross Canadian, Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland, etc...) BTW, this is a great song and RK does a great version of it. A true tribute to R Thompson
