This was the game that made me an NBA fan. One the most memorable from my childhood. Such a shame Tecmo stopped making sports games. They could easily challenge Madden or 2K today.
I used to rent it at my local game rental shop....decided to buy it one day (at software etc)....ended up getting the re-release that didn't have Jordan ....was so pissed lol
This took things to another level. We had never seen a basketball game with all the real players and teams. Usually one of the two was missing. I rented this twice then bought it.
I owned the Genesis version, and in fact Jordan was NOT officially in that version of the game. However, they did have a "Guard #99" that had the same player attributes and background as Jordan.
Yep, those 90s sports games were deep enough but also simple enough to get into and play and have a great time. Today’s sports games are the exact opposite
I had NO IDEA this game existed until about 30 seconds ago! I was addicted to Tecmo Super Bowl. I kind of want to jump into a time machine and pester my parents to buy me this game
@@johngonzalez4298 Ahh man I was going to get into that lol Super Mario world, once you had you're cape & Yoshi you were set and Zelda was great.. Street fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 were the best fighting games
When i was in College we played 2 seasons with 25 user in this. TONS of fights esp once the playoffs started. After the 2 seasons with 25 people on one cart, we had to toss the game. Battery was just dead. So we moved to Tecmo Super Bowl.
The season mode actually had really in depth stats for its time. For some reason tho 20 or so games in every year they would have Scott Hastings averaging 30 a game. Edit: sure enough lol in this simulated stats season their showing he is top 10 in pts as well. Must’ve been a joke by the creators , he was a journeyman who averdaged like 3 ppg for his career
Kevin Mac yep. Only in Tecmo Super NBA Basketball SNES can Scott Hastings of the Denver Nuggets be allowed to be a key player complementing Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Reggie “Silk” Williams, Cadillac Anderson and a rookie Dikembe Mutombo.
it was a data conflict with the nuggets roster simulation point cap being too low which gave hastings the remaining point data which allowed him with such high scoring. much like programming the top 5 players to score over 20-30 plus points with the remaining players having low points even if they were programmed to be high. thats why the simulation data has to have balance programming
I would use the SuperSonics and dominate with Ricky Pierce and Gary Payton in the back court. Loved the deep season mode with complete playoff seedings. Great, underrated basketball game.
Pierce as the scorer, coz Payton didn’t even truly score first until either he got better in the mid 90s or Kemp was gone so Payton had to be the main man by default.
I played this game a TON when I was a kid. One of the coolest thing about it was that it actually kept detailed stats over the course of a season. There wasn’t a single other game that did that.
I had this game when I was a kid. I loved it... I had Lakers Vs Celtics and the Bull verses games, but I was so excited when I got this game and found out they had all the teams, with names and states... I played this game all the time.
Used to go 82-0 with the Bulls a few times before I put the game away permanently. I own 2 copies for SNES, a Genesis copy, and an NES copy of this one.
Especially if you get an injured player, then you see the teammates carrying the injured player looking all hurt and depressed while the main in game song starts to play. It cracks me up because the song sounds so out of place for a sad and dramatic moment with the injured player lol 😂. (Da-Da-Da-Da-Daaa!! 🤕) 🤣
I remember the day my brother and I were playing and he dared me, a non basketball fan who plays basketball games for fun, to score 50 on him in the game. I did and he unplugged the console. I still dropped 50 to his 21.
I found a glitch in this game back in the 90s. You could stand still in the bottom, far left corner of the court with the ball and you would get fouled about 8 times out of 10. I would foul out every player except 5. The glitch didn’t work anymore when the opposing team only had five players left. Very cool.
I always thought the fall animation in this was hilarious, especially when you'd push players and they would fly 20 feet in the air and fall on their asses. 😂
The Sacramento kings with Spud Webb,I was unstoppable. I'll never forget about the review Gamepro magazine gave this game, (bad review) I then read the review for this game in Die Hard Gaming magazine, they gave it a amazing review while also putting Game Pro magazine on blast for the awful review.
This was the first NBA game that kept up with your stats and let you run full seasons. The original had Jordan on it...the re-release didn't. Me and the crew would have $20 tournaments almost daily. Goid times.

Double dribble ain't shit compared to this game don't know why this game didn't get the credit dd got

Big facts bro

Facts went to sleep late on school nights playing this 😆
This was a great game. I’d love to see Tecmo Sports video games back in play. Real Talk
This took things to another level. We had never seen a basketball game with all the real players and teams. Usually one of the two was missing. I rented this twice then bought it.
Yes, even Jordan was in this game.
Real stats, too.
Also being able to play full seasons was amazing!

I miss the good days,... plain, simple and sensitive,...thanks for the upload. Excellent game

I feel totally privileged that I got to see Terry Porter play in his heyday. Y'all just don't know how good Terry was.
Best basketball game of that era

I think about this game all the time. Wish tecmo would release a phone app with all these games
This game was, like all the Tecmo sports games, fantastic.

Yeah, we will never get games like Techmo Super NBA Basketball nor Ken Griffey's Jr. Hitting Run ever again.
Why does the player jump while making a free throw? That’s hilarious 😆
Code reuse. Devs simply reused the same code for ft and shots.
I'm going to guess you watch sports. Therefore, you should know that normally that happens in real life, too.

If you watch sports you know no one jumps while making a free throw.

Soundtrack and gameplay so epic the Pacers are insane in this game chuck person & Reggie miller
Jordan with the fro 😂😂
That was my shit when i had Nintendo i love that game
The accuracy of how often you would make 3’s in this game mirrored real-life percentages. Unlike games like NBA Jam.
Everyone chose the Bulls cus it was the only game Jordan was actually in when they'd usually have "Roster Player" instead.
Yea man they killed me with that roster player crap lol
