I think the main reason was because Stormwind captured a Zandalari ship and imprisoned the Zandalari Princess. The princess was then rescued by members of the Horde during their rescue mission for Varok Saurfang. In gratitude, I suppose, diplomatic relations between the Zandalari Trolls & the Horde improved and since they wanted power restored, they allied themselves with them. And this is also the main reason why the Alliance went to Kul Tiras to recruit them as the Zandalari Navy was only matched by the Kul Tiran Navy at sea.
Well i still belive that Zanalari with Wild Gods who lived for thousands of years and fought the Dark Empire of the old gods and survived are generaly stronger then the Kul'tirans. But i guess pure navy wise if the Zandalari are fair and use no Magic yes.
The Horde beat Kul Tiras even before the inclusion of the Forsaken, Blood Elves, Goblins (technically) and Pandaren allies. With the Zandalari Navy, what's stopping them from victory once again?
xXxgodHunter yea the princess even states a few times that she asked the horde for help it’s just her father that is unsure of us they came to us for help we said yes we will help if you join us is how I see it

Alexanderiii From what I gather about pandaren culture they dont hold grudges. And I beleive the last zandalar campaing was under Zul not Rastakan. Which makes the Zandalar who are joining the Horde in a way innocent when it comes to it.
They simply know that the Zandalari loyal to Rastakhan have nothing to do with what Zul's fleet has done. And Zul was exiled and acted on his own will, wich is also why he now is trying to overthrow Rastakhan. He is the one who went to war with us, while Rastakhans People are the ones helping us against Hakkar and in other Troll Areas due to the Loa and Trolls in danger. Now the Princess is saved and this opens up the earning of them joining us.
Imagine how amazing zandalar and Jungle troll(Darkspear) Hybrids would look. Darkspear and Zandalar would gain so much power and they would have a new reinforced race. Since Vol’Jin is returning they may make him marry Rastakhan Daughter & that would unite both Darkspear Loa and Zandalar Loa. The Story that could be created is endless!
I'm Alliance in heart. But even being ally, I have to admit that trolls have the coolest background from the whole horde. When the zandalari appeared in MoP I was crazy about them! I'm going to have a zandalari troll in horde for sure!
Oh mate, im crazy about dwarves as well, and crazy about dark iron dwarves, as im huge fan of all of combining red and dark colours, and im fabulous belf/nighhtborne in heart! For the Horlliance!
One thing worth noting is that the force led by Zul during Mists was only a relatively small part of the Zandalari fleet, which is why the Horde wishes to bring the Zandalari into their fold, having seen what a small portion of their naval might can do, to have the full might of the Zandalari Navy would be a massive boost in power to the Horde. Rastakhan has been betrayed by Zul in his lust for power, and so it makes sense for him to ally himself with the Horde, having seen their prowess and how they have defeated Zul's forces in the past, it makes lots of sense for him to ally himself with them.
what really bugs me is why the mogu betrayed the zandalari was so hopping they would be an allied race to horde, given them their first ever titan born race.
Short version. They rescued Talanji from Alliance captivity, helped the Zandalari sort their internal problems out, which destabilized Zandalar, and helped defend Dazar’alor against an Alliance attack.
The "Cataclysm caused Zuldazar to slowly sink"-scenario has either been retconned or solved in the background. The only zone which Deathwing apparently has wrecked is the swamp Nazmir that used to be fertile farm land. In diary entries on the isle of thunder Zandalari-trolls did say that their capital was sinking in days. Either, you disregard those journals and diaries or you imagine king Rhastakhan doing some vodoo-loa-hocus-pocus to save the city.
If I can recall, Lorewalker Cho tell us that King Rastakhan send Prophet Zul and HIS FOLLOWERS to search land for them, tecnically there are two bands of Zandalari Trolls, so there should not be any problem of why the Zandalary Troll join the Horde, as why didn't fight Rastakhan's Trolls (Who I believe are the ones who join the Horde)
I haven't played since wrath and resubbed last week. First BFA questing was busting them out of stormwind and the game made zero explanation as to why, or why I should care
Nice video, makes me wonder if we will soon see some Zanadalari walk around in Orgrimmar like the other allied races. Has there been any retcon regarding the status of their capital by the way? It is said to be rapidly sinking, but no one mentioned it in the previews so far.
Hey Doran, did King Rhastakhan sanction Zul’s campaign against Azeroth? If Rhastakhan didn’t, then it would make sense for the Horde to allow Zandalar to join, considering Rhastakhan could be argued to be a neutral faction and that Zul and his men were the antagonist in this whole mess.
You should of mentioned Princess Talanji being rescued from Stormwind, that has a big part in the reason why they join. Horde returns Talanji to Rastakhan and their relations improve a hundredfold.
I feel that the actions the Alliance chose during the story of Zandalar (blowing up the fleet and murdering King Rastakahn) sort of solidified the whole "joining the Horde" thing
Most likely not. I can’t think of a single friendly Mogu we met throughout Pandaria, and there’s a book you can loot from Zandalari mobs on the aisle of Thunder that talks about how the Mogu look at them like inferior beings only good for war. Couple that with the pride from the Sha, it would be silly to imagine anyone getting Mogu
Only 1 big nitpick I have with the video is a lore one. The Zandarlari claim that they have never used nor never will use slaves like their other tribes because it was beneath them. In BFA beta it is also further reinforced in the Zandalari zones near the start as well, other then that I enjoyed the video.
One detail: the land of Azaroth were all over the place. The titans, wanting to organise this mew world they came across, moved all the land in one giant continent. The trolls history, as well as the mantis history, remember those events, and they both call the titans "the great usurpers". That because the trolls were on Azaroth before the arrival of the Titans, some serving the Old Gods and their servants. This is how old the Zadalari troll race really is.
@@jeffreydavidson5161 to be clear, they were before the Titans came to Azeroth. The Titans existed way before even discovering Azeroth (in the old lore, things are being "reframed" a lot lately, so things might change...
real life history has proven that former enemies will unite if doing so is mutually beneficial , especially if their both desperate the horde and zandalari need each other
This video really downplays how powerful the Zandalari empire still is, especially as the horde reunites it post-civil war. They may no longer rule the entire world, but they are still the strongest faction to exist outside of Horde and Alliance. Not to mention the scholarly nature of Zandalari, and they're obsession with being Azeroths historians. Zuldazar potentially has the most magnificent libraries in all of Azeroth.
Woopz its easy... Alliance is a place where all crybabies gather to complain about how unfair life is. Thats why they got Void Elfs... perfect Emo Race.
So you got a few things wrong here. The reason why Zul try to recruit the Darkspear wasn't out of respect but because the Darkspear had actually built up their power and numbers to be considered a formidable threat. Also, the Zandalari are racial supremacist that believe only trolls should rule(specifically Zandalari at the top) Blizzard pretty much created an asspull and retconned their lore to make them joining the Horde possible.
Gareth Owen-crumpton, I’m curious, if Zandalaris are racial supremest, why would they send envoy in Stranglethorn Vale to combat ZulGurub? The Zandalari seems to be cool with allying with both the alliance and horde in that mess. If Zul is an independent actor, it could be argued that his faction are the supremest - not the entire Zandalari race under Rhastakhan.
Well there's a few reasons for that, the biggest being that Zandalari lore wasn't fleshed out at that point. Now with the lore being fleshed out, you could make the case of them allying with us being a smaller sin than the Gurubashi's use of Blood Magic which is frowned upon in Zandalari culture. Or you could use the argument that they didn't ally with us but more on the lines of employed us like mercenaries to deal with the issue for them. Besides it was easier for them to employ Alliance and Horde adventures to deal with the Gurubashi then mobilize their own army to fight the Gurubashi.
Gareth Owen-crumpton, yeah that’s a good point - both interpretation are valid and I guess we won’t really know unless they explicitly told us which it actually is. That explains the ZulGurub campaign. Could you also interpret that the Zandalari that has been wrecking havoc in Azeroth (ZG, Amani, Pandaria) are that of the Zul faction and not that of the Zandalar under Rhastakhan? Considering that Rhastakhan will be allying with the Horde in the future, it could be inferred that theres two factions between Zul and Rhastakhan.
That one I think is mostly Zul but he did start his to goal to unify the troll tribes because of a vision, a vision that Rastakhan ignored and instead merely gave Zul some of Zandalar's largest ships in order to get rid of him. However a lot of the trolls that follow Zul started following him after they lost faith in Rastakhan after he handled the Cataclysm. So i'd say it's like 90% Zul's doing and 10% Rastakhan's doing.
FurCry NEs are in essence very distant descendants of the Zandalari. Dark Trolls were a sub-group that split off from the Zandalari, who then evolved into the NEs.

It's funny how the trolls were originally an afterthought, but over the years, they have had some of the deepest lore
The trolls are the first and oldest natural race on azeroth. They're so old even all elves are just a branch in troll evolution
Troll history is rich and vast, like Queen Azshara's legs.
They are cool I really hope the Amani become available at some point

I think pandaren won't teach the Zandalari how to be monks after the whole Thunder King insident
Dude Brah Same thing could be said about Garrosh. But eh.
zandalari which we fight in pandaria were rebels which were not supported by king a zul was exiled in that time (as alpha in zuldazar said)
Hey that is fine as long as we get Loadins instead of another stupid monk race.
Thomas Wright um. The pandarens sought out the leaders of each faction on there own. We never forced the pandarens to lock down loyalty to either one.
Thomas Wright right, we helped save their turtle after the pandarens tried to blow up a splinter. They chose and befriended sides after this.
Zul’jin gonna be rollin’ innis grave, mon!
Bryan Jackson that's True MON!
How I see it, we've only been fighting Zul's zandalar army, not the actual zandalari that stayed in zuldazar. So kinda like two different factions
TLDR;
Zandalaris are trolls with many factions (Amani, Gurubashi) - Rastakhan and the greater Zandalari race never explicitly were against the Horde.

probably because nelves and humans are racist assholes
Why did the Sethrak join the Alliance?
Amnesiac Lapp because the sethrak hate the zandalari
Zandalari Master Race
