I recommend adding a strip of anti-slip tape on each step of those stairs, so that you don't slip and fall by accident. Otherwise it looks great!
Or just skateboard griptape
I bet they're fine now, but I can definitely see dust making that a big issue.
@@hessel.boersma Or you could do it the old fashioned way and nail some roof shingles to the steps
Stairs are to steep and needs handrail...
So sketch. Just. So much wrong
I like watching Brad build. I can tell he's in his element.
Zechariah Price what’s that symbol next to your name??
@@lsmfreakl5265 I'm a paid channel member.
he really is 🤘🏼
@@RobbieFerreira this build scares me. I have been building houses for 20 plus years. one: screws have no real shear value. and should NOT be used for structural building. use nails. also add joist hangers for the front posts, the 8 screws you used for holding the 2x4's is not meant to hold the weight of that floor. screws are for deck boards and flooring.
The warehouse is finally becoming Robbie’s own
RIGHT😁
Came for the civic, stayed for the DIY lofts😂😂
almost same xd
Huge crack on the Jeep's windshield...
"It's a Jeep thang you wouldn't understand"
no offense :D
I yell at him for it every day 😂
It's a Canadian winter thing you wouldn't understand😂
@@loganu9943 How does the Canadian winter break a windshield?
Crap flying from the road?
I speculated that the windshield broke from body flex when driving offroad.
@@Vaino_Hotti yeah it could of been body flex, my mother had 2 windshields cracked in two years from salt and rocks flying up off the road
I love how you change it up from cars once and a while
Nice job overall! Aside from the stairs (which you mentioned you will reinforce with 2x2's), the only thing I want to recommend is reinforcing that outside 2x4. Right now, that top 2x4 that ties the 2 4x4's together is the only thing supporting all of your joists. If anything where to go, that would be it. Easy way to reinforce that is to get a 2x8 and use some lag screws to the 4x4's and then across that 2x4 in a non-linear pattern to give more support. Safety first man! Thank for posting! Enjoyed the video 👍
This was a nice build 👌🏼
Edit: you can put drywalls and a door in the frame and have a real office
2 things I'd like to mention from an engineering perspective. Where are your Joist Hangers? Quite literally, ALL of your weight is being supported by a 2x4 in its axis of least strength over a span of what appears to be over 12ft, plus a couple of wood screws into the 2x8 stringer along the wall. As a result, if it fails anywhere, it will be on the wall, roughly dead center where the Moment of Inertia is at its greatest. With that said, the average pine 2x4's deflection strength in these conditions is roughly 800 pounds. White Oak is about 1500 pounds and a correctly-performed kick can break a 4ft long one against the grain if struck dead center in the same manner. Also, the 4x4 posts do not appear to be properly anchored into the concrete.
For perspective, I built a free-standing 3'6"x12' porch a few years ago using recycled lumber. Double 2x6 front and rear stringer beams, plus 2x6s on both ends, with 2x4 joists on joist hangers on both ends spaced on 16" centers, running front to back. Each joist hanger had six 3" screws to engage BOTH of the 2x6s, and 4 securing the 2x4 joist to the hanger. Repeat for the other end, and every other hanger. The whole thing was sitting on six 4x4 posts, diagonal braced to the frame in both axes, then secured on concrete with 4 anchors per post. Walking surface was regular 12ft long 2x4s, screwed into the 2x4 joists and on the outer frame. Any load placed anywhere on the porch was supported by EVERY floor joist AND the frame, and the greatest span distance between any two points of strength was under 12". Weighed 550 lbs when I moved it into position by myself. Now you can see why I can break a 2x4 with one kick ;)
Built a set of 4 wheel crib jack stands last year out of regular 2x4s for $80 to support a 2001 BMW 750IL. Each stand is 30lbs, can hold a regular jack stand on top of it, and the set can hold a Russian T-62 tank before deflection is measurable. Ain't physics awesome?
Can we get some “stay committed” stickers/banners instead of “committed crew”. Please 🙏🏼
Chad Lowery or we could get both
CRABlegs507 he asked us if that would be something we want so I’m saying yes it is.
Honesty been really wanting one of them. I’m considering on making my own
they are coming soon!
Your channel seriously deserves more subs if you dont hit a mil by the end of the year I'll be so surprised. Keep it up robbie you're a true legend 👍
Robbie you’re almost at 200k!!!! Awesome being here since before the civ❤️❤️
You should cover "post malone" in stickers
Yes, the shop is gaining so much personality at the moment, I love it
Yes I like MCR, they need to have Austin’s(posty) face in the center of the pole
Make the side railing either detachable or hinged incase u but a big part on top that might not fit if u have a railing there in the way. And u can just put it back up when u need to
Got that channel membership! Proud to support the channel and help make these fire videos even better 🔥 🔥
THANK YOU 🔥
Robbie Ferreira np man happy to support such an amazing channel and guy. Your so genuine in your vids, I love it. By far my favourite channel by a long shot
Just a random thought but you could remodel and redo the bathroom, extend it so you can make the staircase less steep. Love these different DIY type videos. Stay Committed.
I love how hands on and how much you build stuff on your channel. On of my favorite subs rn
Man I’m on S10 withdraw! Great to see there’s a better place to store things now
@19:40 Its the natural desire/instinct of humans to build their own shelter. Its instinctively fulfilling. Same reason Why building forts as a kid feels good.
Great build! Im moving to a high ceiling apartment and looking into building something like this. Love the stairs. Simple, gets the job done.
This channel is 🔥I’m excited to see where you take us.
im excited for the ride to❤️
We have a small urban loft downtown and need extra space in the living room. This would be perfect to build so we could make office space!
always enjoy your videos, and love seeing green British Columbia, I hope your day has been a good day.
I love this mix of DIY and car videos, everyday I wait for the upload and wonder if it will be car related or other topic related. I love the anticipation!!!!
200.000 subs! Congrats bro. You guys deserve it.
THANK YOU FOR UPLOADINGGGG LOVE THE VIDEOS and i miss Steve where is he ?
he is at the new house! he is goooood!
@@RobbieFerreira great news thanks 😉🤙
I would use the white thread seal tape on all of the fittings especially the bag ones where the leader line goes into the bag. i DIY Installed my bags on my 2015 wrx and did this and have had no issues. hope this helps
This actually looks sick. Ive been wanting to build one for ages
Awsome I would suggest put hand railing on the outer side of the staircase too. Look great yall did a nice job.
Hey Robbie just wanted to give you an early congratulations on 200k. I’ve been a long time viewer since you had less than 5/10k subs. I found your channel through your tricks and tips for the brz! It’s crazy to see how far you’ve come on this journey I remember watching the video where you moved and quit your job at the dealership to move across Canada and go full time on UA-cam and I was like wow this dude is crazy it’s never gonna work for him and you risked everything for UA-cam and I’m so glad you proved me wrong and this really worked out for you! Congratulations again love what you are doing keep it up! #staycommitted
Yo let's go 200k glad to be supporting the channel
I would add additional pillars going down from under the staircase to fill in any unwanted space and use it as cubby space (for bolts, desk supplies, oil bottles, etc. It will also allow for a more stable/secure staircase steps.
love watching a sweet shop like this being built up!!! huge fan, go team canada!

theres really not enough canadian auto vloggers! I've been doing videos for fun but I don't have a "sports" car yet haha. one day 😂

Ayyy, the first episode of Rob the Builder!?
A lot of garage loft building on UA-cam. Love the channel.
Is that r34 in your prof pic yours?
Please do more of these types of videos as well !
Can you make more of these DIY videos
You are truly my favorite UA-camr
loving the longer videos! keep it up!
For just storage you are fine ! The only thing the city would have a problem with is the stairs
Love the how the shop is coming along 👍👍
Been loving your content lately❤️ Keep the good work up
200k around the corner!!! Subbed around 15k ♥️🤙🏻
Hey Robbie I'm sure you've already thought about it but I would love to see a building a BRZ in 10 minute video once everything is fine tuned and I think a total cost video on how much it took to buill the BRZ would be dope too much love from NB keep up the awesome work!
Absolutely cannot wait to see you rolling with Birdy’s frs. Gonna be insane
i didn’t even watch this video yet i’m watching the add BUT i’m very excited so keep up the work robbie love these videos!!!
AMAZING VIDEO!!! The loft kinda give me a Tokyo Drift vibe like when they all in the garage playing cards haha good shit guys!!!!
You're a true inspiration dude.. Love what you are doing!
How much did it cost to build?
You should build storage for oil and stuff under the stairs
Pressurise the bags and then use a spray bottle with some soapy water to locate leaks.
I'm glad you said you should add another post, that 2x4 is definitely not up to the task without at least another post for support. I'd also make sure all those steps have some sort of grip on them.
Awnsome loft ! Im gonna build one like this someday! Im from Quebec City it is so funny to see Emmerson pull up with the Tim Horton ! Shout out to all Canadian !
We do will calls at work for big parts orders. In HVAC it’s common to will call the metal for the jobs because it takes up so much space. We pretty much only store our package units, split systems, and small stuff for material like copper fittings, t stats, etc which we sometimes also will call instead of running around Home Depot 😂
Add some led strips under it for the lighting, it will look nice :).
yay more committed crew videos! that loft is super cool and especially that you only built it in 9 hours. you should put some grip tape on the steps so you don’t ever slip and fall (idea from supi tech studio) also congrats on the progress of making the shop more of your shop than just a shop. can’t wait to see more progress on the s10!
My dad and I built stairs with that method and they didn’t last too long (sections of 2x4 under the sides of each stair, bolted into the side plates). We eventually had to make new side plates with cutouts and screwed them in place of the 2x4’s. No issues after that.
Great job guys!
Super surprised how well y’all did that. Congratulations
you need to add at least a 1x or 2x4 running under the middle just to add support to the middle of the each step.
Saw all of that on IG last night. Looks pretty rad honestly!
Love it, wish I could built something like this. Keep up the work Robbie!
Deff some anti slip material on each step on stairs , and I'd so put a bed up there lol and a tv and just chill haha
You are the only youtuber i watch on a regular basis
well thank you for that!
@@RobbieFerreira i actually live in the area too but have never seen your cars
Great video. Lots of diff content doff skills! 👌🏾
Grip tape the steps... also if it were me I would’ve wood glued the ends of the steps too but that’s just me... loos great keep it up!
To spare floor space. Rather than the centered 4 by 4 on the 2 by 4 header, just add a 2 by 8 to the face of if from corner to corner aka 4x4 to 4x4. Tag 2 screws every 16 inches, 3 inch screws would do.
i would still add little supports in between the beams under the ply wood just so you dont fall threw
You can use soapy water to see where the air is escaping on the system. Just spay some on the fittings. Don't just tight them cause you can strip them. Also you might have to add some teflon tape on the threads.
5:39 Why was that actually funny, that shouldn't be funny lmao
Good job Robbie!
Awesome video!
You need some small triangle bits to put under each step to keep them from flexing
As a fellow Canadian, Mike Holmes would be damn proud of this deck build...almost. Maybe except for the stairs/ladder thing. 😅
That’s not safe. Without taking it all down, one way I think you could save that is to put a 2x10 going across the front under the 2x10s you have going front to back, and then put 4x4s under on both sides of the beam. And of course fix the stairs, cut into the floor to make it safe.
2x4s should have been on top of the posts and the front side should have been doubled up, but that works and your having fun, and your not building a house so meh, should be strong enough for some tires and bumpers maybe
You can use OSB at the walls it will be look nice
Put in a pulley or electric hoist on the roof and a gate in the railing to lift heavy stuff up there
How’d Brad’s windshield get cracked in the Jeep?
You should make some sort of wall around the office area, even if it's just like merch shelving or something, I think it would be cool
Add another vertical post beam in the middle
Brad's construction skills really glowed up in this video
Love your videos keep up the work man
Tokyo Drift vibes man. Looks dope!
Oh yeah!
Don't know why, but I loved watching this!
Let's goooo! 200k subscribers!
I think its a way better bet to do storage underneath it. Itll be a pain to always have to walk up and down the stairs to get things, especially when super heavy things start being put up. The office would be a way better idea.
Rob the builder
you should put LED strips on the bottom of the platform, did something similar in my room
This is too good.
Put some plywood behind the stairs for more support and some anti slip tape
a good idea would be is to put a wall on the side of the stairs as extra storage and to cover the side of the stairs
Next you need to get an air reel installed from the ceiling beside your car hoist.
That front 2x4 is holding up half the weight over the whole span. I don't think it's going to be strong enough. You need a more substantial header.
BOPIS
Bopis is a spicy Filipino dish made from minced pig’s lungs and heart. This can be served as an appetizer for beer and alcoholic beverages; it is also considered as a main dish and is best served with steamed white rice.
I'm back lol work meeting kept me out all day
Edit: thanks so much for the like Robbie. I wasnt expecting one where I checked in so late lol. Made my day better than the meeting sure did lol
Robbie if you're worried about your loft, Dont be, you did everything correct and id say you even went overboard. btw the reason the plywood squeaks is that you didn't glue it down first which is also fine.
Is it possible to send the parts tools and supplies you guys used I love this I want to do this to my shop.💪🏻
Put a carpet or rubber natt so they dont roll off and hit the cars or something or put like some kind 2bye4 edge lip thing i dont know so they dont roll off the roof
I'd go overboard, build a semi wall and drywall the opening and add a door make the under office seperate from the shop 😂
I would question the ability of that beam support to carry ANY load. Yikes.
Ooo, why are the blue buckets out of the Civic?
