    We're in for one hell of a season with all these records being broken this early even if this one was run at altitude @1,619m/5,312 ft :) A sub 7s NCAA record is looking very likely, s/o to Julien Alfred who ran an incredible 50 races last year and was so unfortunately DQ'd in the WC semi, but went on to win 100m Silver behind Elaine Thompson @Commonwealth Games at the end of a very long season. S/O to Rhasidat Adeleke who finished 2nd in 7.20 just 0.03s off her PB and then won the 200m in a massive 22.52 PB ahead of Alfred (22.71 PB). Good to see Terrance Laird back on the track for the first time since the Olympic Trials in Jun '21 as he equalled his 6.66 PB in his first race back!

    This is supposed to happen. Specifically in athlete's. Every 30yrs there is a jump in the natural evolution in the human body. Take a look at the evolution of any race from 100m to the marathon, u will this exact thing happen. Record drop, as the human body evolves, and if u add technology, diet, better coaching, etc.. well here it is. Let's be happy we are alive to witness this. Because in 10yrs it will level off again.

    While it is interesting that athletes are breaking 300m/600m times, it isn't noteworthy (I don't think) unless you can find a way to compare those times against 300m splits within other 400m races or 600m splits within 800m races. Since these are uncommon racing distances with MANY fewer events/athletes racing them, of course it is going to be easier for them to break those existing record times.

    Who do I need to sleep with to get rid of this stupid reaction time rule? It is hurting the sport, penalizing athletes, punishing the fans, and adding zero value.

    • @phoebus
      @phoebus Рік тому

      Anybody with a "reaction time" of .10 seconds or less isn't reacting to the gun at all, they are guessing the gun. In fact .115 seconds is about as fast as any human can react to the starter's gun because that's the physical limit that the human body can send a message from the brain upon hearing the gun to tell the feet to start moving. So when you see a "reaction time" under .115 seconds that person guessed at the gun and did not react to it, meaning that the athlete is technically cheating, but by setting the limit at .10 seconds they have left a little wiggle room so more runners do not get DQ. And don't think the athletes don't know what they are doing, they know every time when they guessing the gun and not reacting to it. There are also many other things that can cause a false start, but I won't go into those now.
