You glossed over the best part of the 5k. With about 300m left, Klecker had a ~25m lead on Kincaid. Kincaid's kick made up the deficit, and then beat Klecker by a solid 5 seconds. It was an absolutely amazing race by Kincaid.
@@reesey4321 It looks like Kincaid ran his last mile in under 4:02. Extremely impressive. I'm aware that the new shoes are a factor; what (roughly) does a 12:51 in supershoes convert to in 2015ish shoes?
It should be noted that Klecker did all the hard work. I would've liked to see Kincaid take the lead earlier in the race and work together with Klecker...
There were a lot of great times in there for sure. Tuohy looks like she may have found her stride. Amazing to see EIGHT Washington runners break 4 minutes in the mile. And Kincaid running that 12:51 was amazing. And all of this in the indoor season. A lot of good athlete's to follow this year.
3:44; 100% agree, drives me crazy whenever I see athletes (Amateurs or Pros) fail to protect that inside lane! Aleia's form looked so smooth & flawless, Gail Devers 6.95 US Record has got to be a possibility now!
it's actually a lot harder than you think to completely cover the lane when you're moving that fast, doubly so on a 200m track and with tracks that have that additional inside barrier, you risk everything by clipping it
When you put up a gaphic of the 3000m all time list, I happened to notice a time of 7:24.98 in the 3000m only 0.08 second behind the legendary record of Daniel Komen. I was wondering if you ever covered this performance by Getnet Wale?

I got to watch Nyckoles Harbor's 600. I'm a high school athlete and competed in the VA showcase meet, and was surprised to see so many High school national records being broken. Great Experience.
Now I might be bad at math, but does someone want to explain where Galen Rupp's time fits into that men's 3k top 10 list? And why the fastest time I'm finding on the internet for Galen Rupp is a 7:30.16, not 7:28.42?
A bit unusual for Washington State to have so many fast runners on one team. And to have them break so many records. Suggest checking that school for blood doping
Training for these athletes nowadays must be off the charts. Better and smarter coaching. It was impressive to see Katelyn hang with Alicia and Whittni. She's not training with some club yet and is also a scholar athlete who obviously works hard on her academics. Who knows where she's headed the next couple years once or if her training moves up a notch. But her progression already seems to be coming fast. Her mile time on Saturday converts to about a 4:04 1500m time. So she also might be ready to break 4 minutes for that length race. Only Jenny Simpson has done that and I think it was at Prefontaine as her college career was ending.
You can find Woody's race out there on the youtubes and it's worth a look. He so far behind Klecker with 200 to go he mostly out of the camera frame, and then he drops that 26 second 200. He's moving!
Yeah, it's out there. His kick was amazing of course, but also he stayed tucked behind the lead pack - and eventually Klecker for much of the race, it then looked like he hit the wall before his fast finish.
To put all this into some kind of context or made relative, I watched ‘The history of the Mile Race’. Around 300 years ago people were not even going quicker than 4 and a half minute miles. The official record of 4 and half minutes stood for a long time and even then only got slightly faster in small increments. People did not start to break the 4 minute mark until 1954, when Roger Banister achieved the long awaited Feat then in nearly 70 years Males athletes have managed to shave nearly a further 10 seconds off. Sorry for the long comment but I thought it really puts it into perspective for anyone that wasn’t aware of this, as I wasn’t until yesterday. Keep safe guys, happy 2023 to you all 🎉

Why are these American athletes able to run these times early in the year with lesser competition, and then later in the year they can't produce similar times? Is it (a) overtraining, and then in outdoor/Olympic seasons they can't run in the same way, or (b) they get used to running against weak fields or against the clock, and when they are up against a world class field they can't re-produce these times? 12:51 is a great time that would win many major competitions......why is it so far from happening on the bigger stages for the American runners????
