My name is Jae Jung. I’m a dermatologist and I specialize in oncological dermatology. It is a specialty in dermatology that deals primarily with cancer patients. I love seeing this patient population. They have a lot of dermatological needs. They get rashes from their chemotherapy. A lot of them have unreceptive skin cancers and there are great treatments that can help them tolerate their chemotherapy and keep them on therapy.
I think that the most important thing is to have hope and being able to move forward. A lot of patients, especially those who have cancer, have reached their limits; especially with their skin… it’s their last straw. If they have a terrible rash and don’t want be to seen outside, it’s so stigmatizing and I love to be able to help those patients feel better and look better. I was actually raised in California in the San Francisco Bay area and most recently I was in Los Angeles at a big cancer center there. We moved to Louisville to be closer to family. My husband’s family is here, he was born and raised here, and my family has moved with me. I have a four year old and a two year old at home, so they keep me very busy. We enjoy hiking and spending time with my family is really important to me.
